I'm not saying I was worried, but until I read this I may have started pouting a little. But good. What you have said isn't only on your mind. There must be many on here that fear that the game might die, or that development ceases and we get an unfinished game. There are obviously some that are so passionate that the game will succeed, that they only make it through some of your first post and then dive right into smart debates. Yes, passionate. No idiotic. Not illiterate. Not aggressive or angry due to personal problems that they take out on you. We'll call them "passionate."

I can honestly say in most cases i would agree. I am always ready to rage in with my alpha argument, In a lot of cases it's true. but in this case, there were actually enough constructive (or, at the very least civil) responses made that the OP's last post summed up everything swimmingly. And wrapped it up for that matter. I know, i know. 9 pages of pure text is a bit daunting. Imagine how I felt the first time I read Goosebumbs. But it was concern that was worded to seem overbearing in the first post. Maybe he just said that to get the hounds called off, but I doubt it. And as for the helping the community, it may. They let us know of a lot, by updating us with fixes, new items, new cities, but the concern with some, like, say a developer with the know-how but a different background with a different staff and different community (we are a different breed), he might see that flashy, newfangled items could unintentionally distract us from the fact that serious game issues are being overlooked. But, since I have read too many interviews, Reddit AMAs, and forum posts, I personally assume that this game is on the right track. I don't see how this could possibly fail. I have PC gamer friends, and XBox gamer friends. I made the switch for this game. And I got 2 more Xbox'rs coming over to the Dark side. These 2 guys are CoD dicks that only spam lives and watch sportscenter everynight. And they are building rigs and getting that twinkle in their eyes. DayZ will not fail. it is something else. Special. And I lied, I switched to PC to play the Skyrim mods that made every chick naked and you could bang them all over. And I don't really have any RL friends.

This is on Page 8, soon to pass over to page 9. I have learned a few things in my time on this forum, and when page numbers get high, it's either a hilarious post (like the one of Dean at the Last Supper, or Matt Lightfoot as Justin Bieber) or it is a discussion that no longer resembles a nice, point/counter-point back and forth. When you are on the side of failure (no offense, you guys seemed to have been royally screwed over) you start to see the signs in others in the same profession. I don't know, but I will assume, for optimism's sake, that your heart was in the right place and this was a topic started out of concern for the games future, rather than you being a crazy man holding a sign saying THE END IS NIGH! I don't care what you say, I just try to read into how your saying it. Although, after reading your many other posts (you don't have to respond to everyone. Most of us are idiots. I mean them! Most of them) you seem to actually care (since I could quote you saying that) While I appreciate the concern a bit more than others that have replied, I will beat the dead horse and say a month and a half in to Alpha release is a bit soon to say the ship is sinking. That is obviously my opinion, and it is based off of what I observe on these forums. And honestly, that is good enough for me. I have loads of experience with video games, but only as a player. And up until very recently, only console games (I learned about Steam and haven't looked back. Though I do wonder what the Occulus Rift combined with the Kinect sensor will do for the future of porn, but that's another topic for another time). The one thing I have learned about PC games, at least the few I play, is that the community isn't what you experience over Xbox Live (13 year olds trying to justify their use of the N word, then giving up and calling me a faggot). This forum is the DayZ community and it is strong. And if anyone hasn't noticed, pretty vocal. So although I do think this topic is not quite necessary, not yet, it wouldn't hurt to keep it in the back of your minds. Just in case the day comes where we need to show Bohemia how strong we are. A response should be either be to agree, and state reasons why, or to comfort the OP, and tell him(her?) why you think this game will be a smashing success. If you want to troll or attack, go find the thread that is most likely popping up somewhere about logging in to find a fresh spawn when there should have been a fully geared toon. I used to do this with 2 different Mosins but the same scope and bipod to test weapon accuracy before the Weapon Condition was shown in the tooltip. With the PU, did you ever change the Field of View? I find zooming it all the way in makes the PU operate closer to LRS range, and the LRS operates like the eyes of God. Before I get beaten up, I used the vague term "closer" because if you use the LRS and the PU, there is a difference regardless of the FoV. CrazyKage, I almost missed that Goldmember ref. Nice one. And thanks for turning English into food. FOR ONCE it is useful. But I want a sub. Also, if you are a writer, or are in grad school about to write your dissertation, ignore what I said. As for Weapon Cleaning Kit, in stable it is bugged and using a Pristine Kit on a Pristine Weapon will cause it to go Worn. Using the Pristine Kit again will not help. I used the Spray Paint can and it got my Mosin back to Pristine, but can only chamber one bullet at a time. So many bugs, *sigh*, but as the french say, "C'est la Alpha." As for your situation, yeah, I don't know which factory currently makes them...but...methinks an old war gun should act like an old war gun. Like the Winchester Rifle in the Winchester Tavern in Shaun of the Dead. But hey, when it's on, it is on! And I love me the Mosin. And yes! I spray painted my mosin! I had to! I was in a jam, and the paint made it work. Odd gut call but it worked. But now I have a black mosin that looks like it was hand painted with a runny coat of cheap black paint and I hate it. I miss the wood. Sorry, I'll take my crying somewhere else.

Oooo, can this be moved to suggestions? Because, inadvertently, War Path made a fun one! Think of protecting your camp with Zed's on leashes. Or just walking around with two in tow. if you did it inside a building, especially on the second floor or higher, it floats outside the building at the level you painted it. Although if you stand directly under it you can loot it as if it were at your feet. At least it worked for me.

I am the same way, man. Once my group gets into an engagement my heart rate quadruples and I feel on the verge of a panic attack. It's so intense for me still and i love it. Nice job, by the way.

Well, to undermine the majority of you and stick to the tuth spoken by the op, I will try to tie in what he says with observed "laws." ALL people that play 1st person want to play the game the way it was intended, according to them. SOME people that play 3pp want to play the game the way it was intended according to them. MOST exploiters will play on 3PP servers to use the wall peek and be able to scan behind them while running with no obstruction from backpack (I don't mean that to be negative, but it is true. Hell, I LOVE 1st person, but the group I run with uses 3PP for battle awareness because it is WAY easier). ALL hackers will only be found on 3PP servers. Why? Because they go to the fullest server, and they exploit like crazy. ESP in 1st person? That would be a waste. Almost as much of a waste as buying a game just to cheat at it. But I digest... KoS has been strongly against 3PP for as long as I've been on the forums. Now he is saying he is learning to love them since most douches will be on 3PP:ON servers. Turning this into a Rabble-Rabble-Rabble fest over which is best is useless. He was using humor and common sense to make a point. A true point. If you hate KoS, play in 3PP:OFF. I've never been talked to more. It's so easy to sneak up on someone, and most people that play 1st person either want the immersion, maybe some roleplaying, so they will say "I'm friendly" and I dont have to think He's friendly? Oh shit, he is going to kill me! Like everyone on 3pp servers. Also, these are generalizations. So unbunch panties. take deep breaths. realize we aren't going to agree and don't have to get along. Accept that you use 3PP for increased (and possibly unfair) observational awareness. move along.

Just kill yourself and dont listen to the people that say "Just Run." You will be close eventually. there are cliffs and buildings to jump off, but if you dont spawn in Elektro, then you are on the East coast and should be close enough to make it a 10 minute journey. But suicide is still an option. Once they make it so suicide can't be abused for spawn location, other things will be implemented to assist you. Not to worry, this game won't be as unforgiving as the players that play it.

Allow me. You bought this as if it were a completed game. it is not a completed game. It is not the mod. It is the Alpha Testing of the Standalone. It is not at all finished. Why did they release this crap then? Because it's not begging like Kickstarter and it helps the devs fund this fabulous world. You know, I bet I couldn't find that barely seen disclaimer that mentions all this, but if it was easier to find it would explain everything. I know, I know. It doesn't mention that once end game is reached people get bored and trigger happy. My previous point was a bit aggressive, mainly because it is so simple to understand, yet nobody does. Here it is in slightly harsh and briefer words: You paid to be an Alpha Tester. You are not doing your duty, and are therefore failing this future game more than the people that kill you. If you want to roleplay, play a finished game. I don't hate you, or even dislike you. I just felt that you were a bit ignorant of the true issues in this alpha. In the end, after all is typed and submitted, the only real, tangible truth that is evident is: DayZ SA is in Alpha. You can try to argue against Alpha arguers. You can even insult us. But the ignorance of others doesn't stop that from being true. Oh, and also I did get the point, or points of your first post. And about that... I am not an average player. I hit 20 hours play time on my second day, and I had work still. I love this game and can't wait to see what it becomes. But until it becomes what it will become, I will do what I can to help. Do your part, and take more screenshots/video recordings, and post bugs in the Bug Reporting section. Right now the game is that black and white. Anything beyond that is grey area which we are trying to help define. Roleplaying will come later.

Penalize combat loggers? Can this be done? Rather than a timer, if they log out in a scenario that the game recognizes as active combat, when they log back in all their weapons are walkie talkies and all their stacks of ammo become batteries. Make them fight with insults. Isn't this game too violent anyways? Let's just replace all guns with working walkie talkies. Instead of firing bullets at anyone running around you, you fling insults about the person's mental stability, or sexual orientation, or intellectual ability, or your mom and her orifices that have been violated by me, your new step-dad! Think of meeting up after an intense battle in Elektro. "Jesus, I barely made it out of there. How many 'Your Mom' insults exist? They even brought my penis size into it." -Do you need therapy? I made a comment under a similar topic about the differences between switching out the base gun to improve accuracy. My 2 M4's were nearly identical so the results are invalid (I only had 2 core guns), but I also used 2 different mosins and there was a noticeable difference starting at 300M. At 500M the 2 were nearly an inch off, one being near dead center of the LRS, the other dropping off and to the left. Some of my group that I run with tested it with 8 mosins (we server hopped for science! And from EU servers, so it's fine). We found, that the same guy shooting the same Mosin with the Bipod and LRS in pristine, that there were at least 3 distinct "shoot modes." One was nearly perfect accuracy (any variation we blamed on the shooter's skill). One was off to the left, and only noticeable at 400+ meters. The other was increased movement left and an increased drop that took off a few meters from overall distance. I took one of the "Pristine" Mosins, then KoS'd my team, because who can you trust in DayZ? Nobody, not even myself... Random thought, did the Sopranos steal the idea for the final scenes of the show from DayZ? You're sitting there, doing something, then black screen. We should get legal to check this out.

Well, in rl I hit one of my friends in the chest ONCE with a fire axe and he died. Then I hit my other friend ONCE in the chest with a slpitting axe and he died. In the game it takes 2 body shots. This should be fixed before bean loss. Another time I punched my friend in the face until he was unconcious (in rl, obviously). Then I used a defibulator on him with a 9V battery wired in. He just flopped around on the ground like a fish out of water and smoke came out of his ears. After me and my still living friends ceased our laughter, we deemed this game too unrealistic to endorse.

I won't get into how annoying your complaint is in the grounds of Role Playing since the whole idea of this game is the primal nature of being a human in a world without order, and you are essentially saying that other's ideas of RP aren't similar to yours so they are wasting everyone's time. Ok, so I kinda got into it, but still. This argument is pointless for a game that is not yet released. Since the only people that complain about the "Alpha Argument" are the people that are mad at it's logic, I'll throw it at you: It's an Alpha. Quit roleplaying. Zombies walk through walls. Why wouldn't you complain about that? Or the fact that I can only ever see 15% of as mosin since the rest is buried in a wall or floor? And did you know you get 2 axes in this game, and you can't even chop down a fucking tree? That ruins my roleplaying also. Ok, ok, ok. I've taken my deep breaths, my green skin is returning to normal from my Alpha rage, so I will continue. Currently this game has little to offer in terms of actual meat and potatoes. The visuals are spectacular, the core components are there, and relatively easy to pick up (I first learned about, bought, downloaded, and began playing DayZ SA all within a 3 hour time period) and I can say I love it. When completed, this will be a masterpiece, showing what original ideas can do in the face of EA games, and the ilk. But for now, even on a high pop server, you can get a little of everything you need in a short night's play. The end game has no definition, so for now, people like their end game to be to get guns, get shot at, shoot back, and start over. You know it's alpha, as you said it yourself in the op. In order for the game to get where you, and everyone else wants it to be, quit playing this game. Instead, log on with the idea that you want to help this game. Yesterday I tried vaulting through a wall and I did. I made a bug report. When I jumped off a tall building I tried going prone before I hit the ground. Instead of dying I went prone. I did this 5 more times for fun and made a bug report. Never did I run around, imagine I was breathing the cool crisp air of Chernarus, and then complain when a bullet went spiraling into my brain (See? I have them). I've done the last thing since I go through the 7 stages of grief everytime I die. But honestly, It's like buying the first airplane invented by the Wright brothers WHILE they are inventing it, and complaining that it's inability to fly is the fault of the casual observers.

I have experimented with 2 mosins and 2 M4's (at seperate times) at the NEAF, using the same pristine attachments (ACOG, Bipod, MP handguard and butt for M4, bipod and LSR for Mosin). From what I surmised to be 500 meters (from DayZdb) I fired at one of the jailhouse's wall. The M4 hit mid line on ACOG, at almost identical spots. One Mosin hit a spot nearly dead center of the LSR, while the other Mosin (using the same attachments and bullets) hit less than half an inch to the left, and more than that short. I would like to try this with more help to get a better sample size of both weapons to better validate the findings, plus I never said I was whoever Judd Law was in that movie, so maybe a surer shot could assist. If I do it again I'll record it.

LOL WTF. No, you know, like that power that all humans have to get next to a tall wall that you can't see over but somehow you can see over it? And i agree, nothing is realistic about seeing out the front of your face only. But seriously, Although I prefer 1pp, I won't say people can't use 3pp. I'd like someone to say that, but I won't. No town in Chernarus would qualify as Urban Environment since every city is surrounded by tall hills with tree lines. And yeah, you can't disguise yourself as a chimney in this game. they look like chimneys and people look like people. I read the phrase "Skylining" which means its easy to scan rooftops due to the distinct human profiles. No sniper sits absolutely still, and each movement is plainly seen on your profile against the sky or background. Who would think that is a good idea? have you done it on a high pop?

They would be easy to take down by a sniper. That would be a fun series of videos to post on Youtube, but annoying for the rider.

Who runs outside without scanning? The victims were victims because they acted like victims. Victims make mistakes. I'd have shot them too. If they scanned and saw me we would of hand a standoff, where possibly I would slowly creep along on my way or prepare for a firefight. But never would I risk going into open chat and say "Friendly! You friendly? I'm friendly! Lets be friends!" In Chernarussian, that's translates to "Shoot me, because I won't shoot first!"

I have still only been KoS'd 3 times when unarmed. Once a bandit group made me fight to the death on Kamyshovo's docks. Me and another freshspawn. They placed one fireaxe between us. I went for the axe, and learned a lesson as his well aimed punch knocked me out. But I always gather supplies. And still feel that going to a base first is a waste because that will get you killed unless you are prepared. Interior cities, even on high pop servers, are sometimes completely untouched.

Also, the above metnioned route, once completed, run NE to the coast and work your way down the coast to the Lumber yard. One of my favorite hikes.
