  1. AToC actually does make a huge difference in combat situations, as it can decide whether you can see somebody hiding in a pine tree. I wish this setting was locked to the "All trees" setting. It doesnt come with a huge performance impact even on medium range graphics cards.

    Respawn if bugged?

    Select the energy saving plan in your system control panel so you'll get bad framerates. Then keep sprinting against the wall and keep jumping. Eventually youll glitch through.

    There will be basebuilding at some point, but I seriously hope it will NOT be like in Epoch. Bases I've seen in Epoch just look ridiculous...

    Then just imagine the infection mutated the eyes in a way that they become more reflective. :) I'd really love this as it enhances nighttime atmosphere a lot.

    So if this gets fixed, should every player have the same blood type on different characters (you could use the GUID to calculate the bloodtype, so it will never change), or different bloodtypes on different characters? Having the same bloodtype would of course make it easier, and you could quickly get to know the bloodtypes of your mates and who is compatible to who. Having different bloodtypes on different characters would make things more complicated, but more realistic if we assume you are a different person after respawn.     Not all of the halves can be combined though, you can only combine half maps that will make a full map, so a North map and a West map wont work together.

    Select the energy saving plan so your CPU doesn't run at full clock. Bad Framerate always helps with glitching through walls.

  11. So basically the idea is to make a forced, voice-activated ingame VOIP-system. This way people can still use TeamSpeak, they should obviously mute each other ingame to avoid echoing, but you could still hear them ingame. This is how it could be done: First time you run the game you have to read out a sentence the game shows you, so the game can then set your voice activation level. This can of course be adjusted later on but setting the activation level has to be done by the game, otherwise you could just set the activation level to a value where it wont activate. But there are still a few problems: -this would exclude people who dont have a microphone, and I dont think it's possible/righteous to change the game requirements so it sais you will need a microphone to be able to play the game, since we bought the game under different conditions -if it is possible to adjust the microphone level seperately for different applications, this system wouldnt work at all And last but not least we need a better VOIP to do this, especially there has to be a dynamic range system which would also need to take into account if someones inside a building and the one listening is outside of the building. I'm not even sure if this is possible with the engine at all, and we could end up with a complicated system that has to determine whether someone is indoor or outdoor. A small example of why we need this kind of VOIP-system: A couple of days ago I was near a prison building and there were two guys sitting on the upper floor and talking over the ingame VOIP. Even from about 50m away being outside I could still hear them very clearly and understand what they're saying, and that is just unrealistic and ruins the whole idea of having ingame communication. I myself prefer teamspeak, but if it helps with immersion, realism and makes the game fairer for everyone, then I wouldnt say no to it. IMHO systems that scan the PC for external communication software should not even be a topic to discuss since it's just a no-go, which is why I make this suggestions.

    Yeah why not make it possible to pick boogers from your nose otherwise you won't be able to breathe as good and will get exhausted faster.

    Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay

    The easiest way of achieving this would be to built a forced voice-activated VoIP system. People could still use teamspeak, of course they should mute each other ingame to avoid echoing, but players around them can still hear them talking. But seriously we need a better VoIP system, especially dynamic range, before this can be done. I dont like the fact that some 100m away can hear me even if I talk quietly. Edit: OK, on second thought, due to different sensitivies/recording levels of differents microphones, this could prove to be more difficult than I initially thought.... Edit2: Is it possible to set the microphone level independently for different applications? This would of course ruin the whole thing...

    First day of the release: I've spawned right next to Elektro, didn't find anything yet. First person I meet tries to punch me, I run away telling him to f*** off. After five minutes of being chased through Elektro by some maniac I decide to give him the battle he wants - and punched him to death. PS: After punching the guy to death he told me I was a douchebag... yep, what a warm welcome to DayZ Standalone. :D

    I also appreciate realism but some people need to learn that you cannot make a game 100% realistic. There will and must always be a compromise between realism and playability. I really wouldnt want to have to drop my gun every time I want to pick up an item or eat something or even my gun falling off my back, thats just annoying and doesnt contribute to the gameplay. And maybe Sidewinder needs to learn the difference between mocking people and discussing...

    Then why dont you just play the game the way you like and stop mocking people who play differently? It's really getting annoying and its childish behaviour which is why I replied on your level ;) , not just you though... BTW I dont see myself as a casual player, I also prefer 1PP servers and would prefer to use an ingame map over DayZDB if it would give me more information (see my thread in suggestions concerning maps). And I also like the idea of radios to communicate in game, but the VOIP just isnt good enough (no voice activation, bad audio quality, no dynamic range etc).

    My friends arent idiots who try to dictate to me how I play the game... and from your reply I can conclude that you really dont have any friends who want to be in teamspeak with you, which doesnt mean that I am not allowed to use teamspeak with my friends.

  19. I have a HD7870 and all settings in the catalyst control panel are set to application settings (dont know the english term sorry). I see only very little difference between anti aliasing off and very high, but a notable drop in performance. Check the screenshots, edge smoothing is set to off. Anti aliasing off: http://www.abload.de/img/dayz2014-01-1512-46-1v4oil.jpg Anti Aliasing very high: http://www.abload.de/img/dayz2014-01-1512-46-3u9rx8.jpg If this is MSAA then very high should be like 8 sample, and 8x MSAA certainly does make a bigger difference in image quality than you can see on my screenshots. Also using FXAA/SMAA and anti aliasing together seems to break both anti aliasing and edge smoothing, but still costs performance. Anti aliasing very high, FXAA very high: http://www.abload.de/img/dayz2014-01-1512-54-4flp7i.jpg However when using only FXAA/SMAA I get some proper anti aliasing but not on all objects/not from all viewing angles (look at the scaffolding in the back), which I believe is in the nature of FXAA/SMAA. Also there's absolutely no drop in performance from edge smoothing. Is it an AMD related issue?

  21. So I was wondering what's going on with all the empty roads in the north, for example north of the NWAF. They look like it's a basic layout for villages but there are no buildings. Also the harbor city in the north-east is only half way finished? Are we going to see new cities in the future?

    TIp for the future: make your performance as bad as possible. Turn all the settings to max, maybe choose energy saving plan so your CPU doesnt clock up. Then just run against a wall and keep jumping, at 10FPS or less you'll glitch through in no time.

    Not sure, but I think it's the object quality, this setting at least dictates how dense the grass is.
