Oh I understand what you do and why. It certainly doesn't make it any less douchey or cowardly. And for simple logic to be lost on me you need to state something logical first.

I found this the other day. Its just north of Gorka I believe. The town(s) are on the map, they just arent named. There are a couple of them.

Because DayZ isn't Battlefield. DayZ isn't a run and gun pvp game. It has that element but thats not what its about. It's a survival game. Period. If you think part of survival is murdering other people for 'no' reason then so be it. You're the one who has to live with being a douchetard coward. I suppose it takes far less effort to kos than it does to actually interact with others. I for one prefer not to be a lazy gutless coward but each to their own. :)

Why is everyone in this game such cowards? OK sorry to generalize if this does not pertain to you but 99% of my encounters with people are either A) snipers trying to shoot me from 800 meters out, or B) combat loggers. I FINALLY encountered someone off the coast. AMAZING! I was passing through Koslovka on my way south from the NWAF (I was there by my lonesome on a 40 person server I might add) and started looting some houses in hopes to find some extra food and water, can openers etc to pass on to fresh spawns on the coast. I like to fill yellow protector cases with food water etc as care packages for freshies. ANYWAY.... Some dude logs in inside a room just as I opened the door to the house. He has a chest holster and a .45. I tell him to put his hands up. He complies, then vanishes. Fuck dude I was gonna help you out! Then I head farther south and find myself at Bolota. OK, fine, maybe the MP shack has some loot. Ive been looking for a new combat vest since the one I had was damaged. Some dude with a mosin runs by and doesnt see me. I call out stop or I will shoot. He pulls out his rifle of doom and shoots where he thought I was. Missed by a mile. I light him up until he drops. Everything he has is ruined so I leave his corpse. Heading into the jail I find another corpse, everything ruined. I assume this is the work of the mosin guy. On the bench beside the stairs I find my pristine camo assault vest. Awesomesauce! Thats all I needed. Time to leave. As I walk out of the MP shack (jail, prison, call it what you will) some dude starts shooting at me with an M4, from what seemed to be from the moon! REALLY? Dont be such a coward. Come closer. Dont try to light me up from 500m away with an m4. So I simply slip in behind the jail, through the fence and start circling around him to the west. Ive had this character for sometime and have been playing rather haphazardly, as dying and spawning anew would be refreshing, but I'm not going out without a fight. So I tuck my head between my legs, kiss my ass goodbye and run towards the barracks as the shots were coming from across the airfield. Shots are still ringing out but I think he is still taking pot-shots at the jail. I see him through my ACOG hiding in a bush. His red cap and clown mask gives him away. I move in closer slowly and quietly until Im about 200m away. I fire a couple rounds at his noggin but it appears I just winged him. I hear him moan in pain and then POOF! he vanishes as if he had that shit macroed. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY FUCKING COWARDS IN THIS GAME???

It's not that it just works for me. My point is that this works for anyone, especially new players having difficulties starting off. I just can't wrap my head around why everyone hangs out on the coast. The first thing anyone seems to do when they spawn is rush to Elektro to play CoD or they just hang out on the coast to kill fresh spawns for their batteries. I just don't see how that is fun.

OK I just played for 1 hour starting at Berezino. Not using a map or compass I ran west inland to see how much gear I could find in as little time as possible. 1st stop was Polana where I found a water pump and drank until I was stuffed and then drank some more. After looting a few houses I found 3 Taloon backpacks, 1 screwdriver to open the several cans of food I found, and a canteen. OK this was the first 20 minutes of playing. After that it only got better with all the spiffy new clothing I found such as hunting pants, hoodies, raincoats, etc, not to mention a Magnum and 2 boxes of ammo and a speed loader, bags of rice, water bottles and canteens, lots more food, saline IV, etc. If you get off the coast where 99% of the players are you are bound to find gear since nothing will have been looted yet.

All the coast has are cowardly, turdcutting KOS'ers looking for new players just like the OP to kill and ruin his experience.

I dont call KOS'ers kids. I call them cowardly, lazy bitches. Interacting with people takes way too much effort for these cowardly pansies.

There are good players in this game. Only lazy, cowardly bitches kos and camp/snipe. The good players, while few and far between, actually will interact with other players and help where we can.

Ignore this. GET OFF THE COAST. Dont run the coastline. HEAD NORTH. Go inland and avoid the coast.

Encouraging him to be a douche? Instead of being a cowardly sniper, once you get geared up try helping people in your shoes find water, food, gear and retain your humanity instead of listening to peopel telling you to murder others.

Get. Off. The. Coast. Go north as soon as you spawn. Head to Msta or Staroye for the water pumps, and then begin looting northern villages. Most are only 1-2km away from each other. 95% of the players stay on the coast so the northern towns are untouched and unlooted and that is where you will find lots of goodies. 1) find a water pump. 2) find a weapon, axes are preferable. 3) get a backpack and clothing with storage. 4) stock up on food and water. 5) profit.

I carelessly sprinted into a trainstation the other night and came across 3 guys all armed with shotguns. I got nailed almost pointblank by at least 2 of them. I was hurt but not even bleeding. I managed to pull out my m4 and mow them all down and I just got some scratches and ruined my green hoodie and my ttsko pants. Shotguns suck (for now).

People who KOS are cowards at best. It's in the game and I accept it. In no way would I ever tell someone how to enjoy the game they paid to play. But it doesn't change the fact that they are cowardly bitches, too lazy to actually interact with someone. Take pleasure in the fact you are not like that, and know that not everyone in the game is like that.

Great guide. Lots of effort put into it. However, and I'm likely to get flamed for being a grammar nazi, but apostrophes do not make nouns plural. Barracks vs barrack's when talking about more than one. If you meant a barrack's door that would be correct to use the apostrophe. Don't use apostrophes to pluralize items. Sorry its just something that sets off a nervous twitch in my brain anytime I see stuff like that. :P

i FORCE MY HEROISM UPON THEE! oops caps lock. I like to loot unlooted areas and dump the food in the woods so that when I, the hero, come across hungry travelers I am a godsend. Actually I enjoy gearing up more now that things are harder to come by. I like to get geared up, go to the coast and dump ALL my gear except maybe some food and water, then I start over, and hopefully helped a fresh spawn attain some gear. I dont dump it all in one place, but all over. (Passive-aggressive heroism?)

I was a graphic artist in advertising for 12 years working on top of the line, high-end Macs the whole time and would never ever own one. They are overpriced garbage, at best. You can build twice the 'PC' for half the cost and Windows computers can do anything a Mac can do these days. The only reason people say Macs are the go-to computer for graphics and such is because years ago the software was only available on Macs, which is not the case these days. :)
