  1. The Mosin is great... but jeez that flag pole on your back really stands out... are there plans to add the Mosin M44 carbine? Same gun... just shorter, hinged bayonet and a much larger muzzle flash!

    duct tape (mute)

I think this is a good idea... but in the mean time... if you want to mute a player... use a bullet. Works every time.
  3. Actually...AlexeiStukov, would you mind if I repost my suggestion of the SUB-2000 as it's own thread? I would like to get the community's view of it... perhaps Marshall some support for the idea... I really think it would fit the game, if not the region, perfectly.
  4. If you check out my original suggestion post on pave 55... I propose an interesting place for the SUB-2000 when it isn't in the primary weapon slot. I invite you to check it.
  5. Honestly? Kel-tec is a small American firm that lacks the manufacturing capabilities of other mainstream firearm companies. What I love about Kel-tec is how innovative their products are. The level of quality their weapons display but mostly the cost to the buyer. Kel-tec truly produces solid performance weapons for the "everyman". THe SUB-2000 is what I consider an excellent survivor's weapon system. Which is why I instinctively thought of it's value to DayZ. Not only does it's use fit the niche of DayZ but ... as far as I know... the SUB-2000 has never been featured in a videogame before. You would be breaking new ground. The weapon is commonly found here, in the united States. Obviously. I could not find any information about the export of the SUB-2000, specifically but I did look into Kel-tec's export history. They do, indeed, export into europe. If I had to guess; their most popular export item would be the iconic Kel-tec KSG: To the point, I have only heard whispers of Kel-tec exporting into the eastern block... (one rumor of the above shotguns finding their way into russia) but nothing i would bet my life on. So... I don't think there would be many Kel-tec products laying around during the aftermath of DayZ. I just think the SUB-2000 was made for the types situations posed in DayZ... well... I doubt the Kel-tec engineers were thinking Zombie apocalypse... but hey... who knows? Please consider the SUB-2000... a great intermediate weapon between a sidearm and a primary weapon... made to be light and compact! Thanks in advance! super

Blocked Off Rooms - Breaking in Rare Rooms

Great idea. No need for so many types of bolt cutters, though... if you went to the trouble of looting a construction site... all pad locks should be at you mercy. I look forward to the day zombies can't clip though walls... then the possibility of zombies locked in rooms can come to light... or hell, being able to run away from them by ducking into a house or building.
  7. Yeah... the Czech version of the AK... is far superior to the Russian one... looks good.
  8. All those guns look great! But.... What about the Kel-Tec sub-2000? See page 55 for my full length post!
  9. Hmmm... yeah... I can care less about beans... so... fair enough. Beans I can due without... but some community insight is always nice. I would of liked to be a part of the conversation directly resulting in my thread. In the end though, I suppose the utility of merging all weapon posts is justified. What is the likelihood my suggestion will be acknowledged by the devs? And will there be a way I can keep track of the process?
  10. So... that's it? I write a well constructed thread with a poll, pictures and all... and inside of a few hours... BAM! It is "merged?" So, now what? My post gets buried on page 55, forever forgotten? Is that it? Or... are you considering my suggestion? Can you fill me in?
  11. No, I can't. Should that matter? My understanding is the Czech Republic has a high level of gun enthusiasts. Would the addition of the SUB-2000 (an inexpensive but innovative little survivor's gun) really be so far beyond your suspension of disbelief, that it would ruin your emersion? Please don't take that mockingly. Just asking.
  12. My suggestion is for Kel-tec's SUB-2000... my post would have been way too long... so I published a thread. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/204059-the-kel-tec-sub-2000/
  13. Hello my fellow un-bathed Survivors, I think, the Kel-tec SUB-2000 would make an excellent addition to the DayZ arsenal. SUB-2000 with his little brother, from another mother. Why? Glad you asked: The SUB-2000 is a pistol caliber carbine, capable of semi-automatic fire. It comes in 9mm and .40cal, though I would suggest adopting the 9mm with the Glock style grip variant. First and foremost: the SUB-2000 eats pistol caliber cartridges, making it easy to feed, even early on. Other than using a common round, the SUB-2000 with the Glock lower is compatible with most Glock magazines. Assuming the Glock 17/19 makes the cut, the subby will have access to the oh-so-handy 32 round extended magazine. I do think the 32 round mag should be in game... but I think it should be a rare find, indeed. Another advantage of a common pistol cartridge is, only needing to stockpile one type of ammo... assuming you choose to do so. I don't know about you but having a carbine that shares ammo, let alone magazines with my sidearm would be a fantastic option. Think of all the extra storage space for other essentials. Food and drink is one thing but later on; building materials are going to fill back-packs up, quickly. Oh, did I mention the SUB is a very civilian weapon? I was designed to be durable and inexpensive with civilian ownership in mind, therefore I would suggest it spawn in non-military zones; to help fresh spawns defend themselves a bit earlier. The SUB-2000 is compact and light. This feather of a rifle weighs in at a barely noticeable 4lbs (1.8kg). The overall length is 29.5" (749mm) when locked into the open "ready" position. Which brings me to one of the subby's niffy features: it can fold in half. I suggest the SUB-2000 fills a 2x4 slot in the inventory when locked open and a 2x2 slot when folded. I think this would make for an interesting dynamic. If you have another primary weapon slung and your SUB-2000 is folded in storage (assume your bag is full and has no room for an "open" SUB-2000), placing the subby in your hands would involved a long animation unfolding and locking it into "ready" position. When you are ready to place the SUB back into storage (if there is no room for the extended carbine) a full length folding animation must be viewed. This would make the SUB-2000 convenient to keep with you. No matter what awesome assault rife you happen upon, you won't have to choose between the two. I would keep it with me as a decent "give away" gun. If you meet up with a buddy who freshly spawned or simply as a gift of charity to a stranger, the SUB is perfect. A 9mm Carbine, that takes up little space, would better serve their needs, than a pistol, me thinks. The SUB-2000 is also, rather customizable. With a M4 style fore-grip, all sorts of accessories can be easily attached. There are many advantages to adding this weapon, as stated above but I believe it is far from overpowered. The SUB-2000 is small, light weight, accurate (within 100 yards or so), and easy to keep loaded but let's talk about what balances this weapon. No matter how positive an effect a longer barrel has on a 9mm round, let us not forget... it is still a pistol cartridge. The nine mike-mike was not designed for long distance shooting. In a medium-long range gun fight, the SUB-2000 will be much less effective than say, a 5.56mm bullet. Also, the 9mm round is not suited for defeating obstacles between it and it's target. Even light cover or body armor will reduce it's lethality, exponentially. Even though I believe the SUB-2000 should be easy to handle and keep on target... it will never be an automatic weapon. Semi-automatic fire is not ideal when trying to suppress your assailants and unless you found a few Glock 32 round magazines, you will have to pause to reload every 16 rounds fired. In the end; this quirky little carbine would make any survivor happy, I think. For self defense, I could not ask for more. If you want to learn more about the SUB-2000 you can check out nutinfancy's video review of it, here. I hope you enjoyed the above, super

    DayZ Is Officially Ruined(Player Wise)

I'm in. I keep trying to help new spawns. I keep hard cases with pistols in holsters, a clip and a bottle of water. I give my gifts to thise who are in need... and get shot on sight for it... now if I was in a group... approaching a possible hostile alone can easily mean instant death... but with cover... communication is possible. Remember bandits only care about what they have... so... if they are outnumbered... chances are they will play along to either get away to live to fight and steal again... or wait for an opportunity to stab you in the back. Anyway, shoot me a PM with the details.

    I'm a'scared.

Hello, I'm baby fresh, I am new to this forum, obviously. I am new to the Standalone... I guess we all are. but this is my first time playing Dayz as well. So far? I love it. This is not my first alpha... so the glitches are tolerable. I love the concept, despite generally being bored of Zombies. So, I played through a few times, got my bearings. I was betrayed and killed by a few people swearing up and down I can trust them (they did it for a baseball bat and a bottle of water in one case)... so ... I learned THAT lesson. Now... here I am. I have been playing it safe and moving cautiously. It payed off, my current character is fairly kitted out, I have: A huge hiker style backpack. A rain coat. Hunter's Pants. A M4A1(no ammo or mags). A FNX45 Pistol(no ammo or mags). A Baseball bat. A headlight with a Pristine Battery. 3x Standard Flashlights with Pristine Batteries. A Full Bottle of water. Powdered Milk. A can of Soda. A box of cereal. 3 rolls of duct-tape. Antibiotics. A screwdriver. A wrench. ... a fresh kiwi? So... that is SOME haul for me. The problem is... I am scared to keep playing. lol... Two Great weapons... with no ammo or mags. Plenty of supplies to live off of and heal myself with AND room to carry plenty more. I love that this game plays for keeps... it creates a tension that I have not felt while playing a game... in a LOOOONG time. I was almost held up by a guy with a gun... but I talked my way out of it... I thought about trying to bluff with an unloaded gun... but though better of it. Anyway, enough rambling. Any tips guys? My top priority is to get my hands of some ammo... so I can defend myself. Any ideas where I can get some? Without walking out into a fire fight... that is. Anyone want to form up and loot? My forum name is my steam name, as well. super

First person only players need to band together

Hey! I am an American.... and I spent the first 10 years of my driving life in an automatic.... then I bought a Mazda 3 hatchback with a manual transmission... why? I wanted to. I signed the contract then proceeded to learn how to drive my new car on the way home... long story, short: no more autos for me. Good idea for the servers, btw... beans? I insist.

Group of guys looking for fresh blood

29 year old east coaster here. I am down... sausage fest or not.
  23. Allow me to reestablish myself, I am a noob. I never played the Mod and (like all of us) am new to the standalone. I am aware there are features of the DayZ mod that have yet to be implemented in the Standalone (as well as all new features, I'm sure). I have stumbled across great gear and have lost it just as quickly. To date... I have only fired on a "live" assailant, once. I will say... I have learned quite a few lessons about staying alive in Dayz and the potential, other survivors have for betrayal and mindless brutality. The most important of which? Stay AWAY from military areas and airfields. At least as long as I am playing solo. Thus; I am not the most trusting... but I certainly am not out for blood... if I have the upper hand... I tend to let strangers go... and I watch them go... before I turn my back. That said. I have sneaked, crawled and darted my way into a large town... the one with two fire stations, one in town the other right on the outskirts. Within it I have found a plethora of supplies. At the moment I have, most notably; A Mosin. No Ammo yet. Two FNP45s... my equipped one has a red dot sight. Four Pristine Magazines and 102 rounds of .45APC. Plus a backpack(small hello kitty style) FULL of food, soda, water and medical supplies... Oh.. and a slightly used Fire Ax... poor zeds never saw it coming. I am feeling pretty confident. But now... I don't know what to do. And so, I have stumbled upon a DayZ Paradox: What is the point of DayZ? Is it to loot? Is it to survive? Is it to loot to survive, to loot another day? I love the complete lack of RPG elements. Too many post Apocalypse games lean on a RPG/Leveling system to supplement their players' interest. DayZ seems like a much more convincing representation of what surviving in Post-Apocalypsia would be. It is based on logic and therefore... you can use your head for problem solving... without having to filter your thoughts through some RPG-dynamic cheese cloth. Anyway... what do I do now? Wander? And if wandering is my only option now. Will we be able to eventually build a base camp? Will clans be able to commandeer towns? Will there be dedicated servers that save overall progress to the environment, only resting loot? My brain is exploding with the possibilities but for now... What do I do? super

Played for an hour or so today and...

Hey mdog... I am new too.... add me if you like. I currently have a "Starter gift" in my pack... a peace offering if you will... I have an extra .45 in a holster and a spare (full) mag plus a head torch in a hard case. I like to keep a extra pistol or something to persuade strangers to trust I am not a bandit... again... handing someone a loaded gun... means I can't complain when they shoot me in the back.... anyway... I am still close to the. Coast... anyone want to squad up... PM me... same name.
