  1. Hello everyone, Thought you might want to check out an interview I did with Soma about the upcoming "Survivor GameZ III" event this Saturday. The rest of the article is stuff you guys probably already know as it's aimed at folks who don't closely and constantly follow the DayZ scene but you might find the Q&A interesting. http://vortex-1.blog...e-05232013.html Feel free to check out the rest of the blog if you're into gaming-related content. Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, Wanted to share this video of a song I wrote which was inspired by DayZ. For more on the song, DayZ and other games, check out my blog. http://vortex-1.blog...ed-by-dayz.html Thanks!

  4. Hi there! Closed out "Season 0" of my DayZ video series with what I think are three pretty solid episodes, so I wanted to share. Note that the third video won't stream to mobile or TV due to a YouTube restriction so you'll need to watch that one on a computer. For more DayZ and gaming content, check out my blog: http://vortex-1.blogspot.com Thanks and Enjoy! Have to put the third one in a reply as only two are allowed per-post.
  5. Hello, Back with more group gameplay videos this week: For more DayZ content, check out my blog: http://vortex-1.blogspot.com

Videos: More group play madness in Elektro

Thanks for the comment. I've definitely been trying to shoot from the hip more at close/medium range but I'm still getting a feel for it on servers with no crosshairs. Also, yes, those videos take up tons of space. :) FRAPS is great for quality but it really chews through the HD. I have a dedicated 300 gig partition for capturing the raw video to make these and it fills up in no time. :)
  7. This week, more group play in Elektro. I know there's not much to look at until we leave the train station but I liked the audio so I decided to keep it. And here's the Bonus Reel: Still lots of room for improvement but I think we're getting better or at least more entertaining, I hope. :) For more DayZ content, check out my blog: http://vortex-1.blogspot.com

  10. Hello everyone, Posted a video of my DayZ group's first-ever raid on Elektro. Things don't go so well but I saw an opportunity to use the video to point out a lot of the big mistakes we made as a new group of mostly-new players to try to help others who are getting their own groups started. I also tend to put a lot of regularly-updated DayZ-related content on my blog: http://vortex-1.blogspot.com Hope this is useful to someone or at least entertaining. :)
  11. Hello everyone, Trying to expand the content of the DayZ Updates on my blog with some gameplay/commentary videos. This week, a couple videos that show looting runs through Balota with a new character at night and during the day. http://vortex-1.blog.../sit-rep-6.html There's also a test video that shows a quick looting run from a spawn at Prig, which ends poorly. :) Hope these are helpful or at least fun to watch! :) Thanks for your time!

    My suggestion list

Been jotting these down over the past few weeks. Figured it was time to share. New Features: - New players should spawn with random gear. It's kinda strange that everyone starts with exactly the same stuff every time. Perhaps create a sub-set of "starter" items in the database that have point values assigned to them and randomly dole out x points worth of gear to each new spawn. Some might start with a gun with no ammo or ammo and no gun, others with medical supplies, others with food, but everyone should get something potentially useful. I think this would do more to encourage people to co-operate with each other in the starting areas than the current approach. - Add walkie talkies and batteries and let players with both use global chat (or at least a longer range than direct comms). You could even have different channels or entirely different bands/ranges for say police walkies versus military ones. Ham/Civil-Defense radios in certain structures that could reach the entire map would be cool too. - There should be support and designations for PvP and PvE servers so people can opt in and out of PvP if they want to do so. It should be a server admin preference just like crosshairs and 3rd person, which are just as if not more un-realistic than players not being able to shoot each other. If people want to host and play on care bear co-op-only servers, they should be able to do that. - I know this is more of an ARMA thing than a DayZ thing but a lot of the smaller interior environments are really clunky. Having to stand up just to walk through a narrow door or breaking your leg crawling across a door's threshold really kills the experience. If the engine can't handle something consistently and properly, it probably shouldn't be on the map. Perhaps it's time for a more DayZ-specific version of the map that negates some of these issues by changing the geometry of some of the more problematic buildings? Stuff almost not worth mentioning: I know you are probably already aware of most or all of these, but just in case... - Hatchets are currently spawning way too frequently in barns. I've seen 3-5 in every barn I've been in since 1.7.1.5 - Infected still attack through certain objects. Shipping containers and some free-standing walls near the Elektro docks for example - Flashlights do not aggro zombies. Seems like they should. - backpacks seem to be way harder to find then they used to be. Perhaps the spawn rate was turned down since people start with less now? Either way, they're too hard to find or I've just been incredibly unlucky. Those are the things that have really been jumping out at me lately. Hope this is useful. Thanks for reading! Also, I've been posting some DayZ-related content on my blog if anyone wants to check it out. http://vortex-1.blogspot.com
  13. Seems like a lot of folks are struggling with getting started now that new characters spawn without a gun. Hopefully, this will help. http://vortex-1.blogspot.com/2012/06/dayz-starting-without-gun.html

    An Introduction to DayZ
