Keep in mind, if you're using any kind of scope, you are NOT looking down the barrel, you're looking slightly above it, so while there may not be anything blocking your line of sight through the scope, that doesn't mean your barrel isn't pointed directly at something. This happens a lot when people look over a ledge on a roof and see a player in the scope, but end up shooting the ledge.

I agree, if shooting someone is going to ruin their loot, the hit detection system, as it pertains to the damage system, needs to be greatly improved. I don't shoot unless I'm being shot at, but if I have to shoot someone, it would be nice to get some beans out of the deal.

Unless they fix the damage system, headshots have been known to ruin loot in backpacks.

Let me start by saying, I have no problem at all with how you play the game. In fact, I think the fear of "dying", either by zombie or another player, makes this game more intense than any other game out there. My question is, killing someone for loot works for now, but what are you going to do when the condition of loot actually does have an affect on it's usage? Currently, damaged or ruined condition only affects scopes and magazines. What happens when you kill someone and everything they have is ruined and you can't do anything with any of it? You'll either have to learn to hold people up, whether they're armed or not, or you'll have to go back to looting buildings instead of dead bodies.

I gotta say, this is the first time I've ever heard anyone complain because people just walk away without talking. Look on the bright side, at least you're not being attacked / shot by everyone you meet.

Logging out on top of anything just seems like a bad idea during the alpha, especially the Green Mountain tower. I'm surprised you were still standing when you logged in and not face down in the dirt. -

Preface: I use 3PP when I play, but I couldn't care less if they removed it. I'm fine with playing strictly in 1PP also. Having said that, everyone does realize that 3PP will never go away correct? Server admins will be allowed to turn if off if they choose, but the devs will NOT take it out of the game all together. In case you're not a follower of Brian Hicks on Twitter, when it was suggested to him to completely remove 3PP, his response was "That'll never happen. Its not up to us to force a definition of the DayZ experience on players to that level." -
If you're wearing headphones, the sound of the gun fire should be pretty obvious as to which direction it came from. Then it's a matter of zooming in, watching for either the muzzle flash, the smoke from the barrel or movement that's not natural. If you're not wearing headphones, it can be hard to tell which direction noises are coming from.

Staying in an ATC tower for 10 minutes is bad for your health. -
Agreed, while you can drop it and access all 10 slots, it best to just keep it in your hands, even if you can only see 6 of the 10 slots. You never know what's going to happen to something you drop on the ground. Better safe than sorry.

I found 3 of the .357 magnums tonight, all within about 20 minutes. Two were in that mini military compound at Zelenogorsk and one was in the jail building on Green Mountain. I also found ammo for it in that same jail building on Green Mountain.

Zombies do need to breath. The muscles used in their movement and the little bit of the brain they have left (the part that controls motor skills) still need oxygen. Also, no breathing, no air in their lungs, no air in their lungs, no noises coming out of their mouths, and if there's anything we've learned about zombies from DayZ, they make a hell of a lot of noise. -

If they were to add breating issues for the sake of realism, I think they should also limit the field of view with it on. I've worn one for a while when I was in "the desert" and the loss of your peripheral vision in a combat situation is unsettling. Speaking of realistic vision changes, I wish the sun glasses in the game would actually block some sun light too. -

My current character, who I've named Frank, is currently carrying 3 can openers for this same reason. I give them out as presents to any non geared person that needs one and didn't try to punch me first. -

I used to be really particular about sorting and arranging the loot in my backpack, until I realized the system was never gonna save my loot layout and I'd be reorganizing it every time I logged in. Thank you DayZ, for curing my OCD. -
It may or may not make the game more difficult but it would deter server hopping. Imagine if the military loot spawned based on a player to loot ration (i.e. 1 m4 for every 5 players on the server). No matter what the population is on the server, you always have a 1 in 5 chance at acquiring an m4. This way, there's no incentive for someone to bounce around on low pop servers. If / when the loot system becomes dynamic and not just or server restarts, this could work. I like this idea. The cool down timer is a good idea, but I think it should only apply to people that actually clicked exit. I realize there are other ways to log out on purpse without clicking exit, but I don't think people whose connection dropped should be punished. Just my opinion.

Wow, you're like the best FPS gamer EVER man... oh wait, you're not playing a FPS. I know you won't admit it, but I'm pretty sure everyone you've killed has either not been as well armed as you or was busy playing DayZ when you hunted them down and killed them like the Special Forces commando that you are. -

Once more zombies get added, where they don't need a server restart to spawn and they're more aggressive and faster, I think the KoS (for no reason) will slow down. They'll be just as busy evading or fighting the zombies as the rest of us. Also, I think zombies should spawn on players even in the woods around buildings. That would reduce the number of people that just camp on hills over towns and snipe people for hours on end. You can't just lay there sniping all day if you're always looking over your shoulder for a zombie, not to mention that your first shot will draw their attention. It gives that guy sprinting across the airfield just enough time to get across safely. -
Fast/Safe Item Trading (serverfriendly)

I like the idea, if I'm playing with a friend, but I'd never do that with a stranger. It does also give the devs an alternative to the trading via taking stuff out of other players backpacks... illiminating pick pockets. But dropping it on the ground gives you the chance to give someone something and back away to a safe distance. Imagine handing a new spawn a water bottle or something and he punches you in the face while you're stuck in the animation. -

Same here, ENDLESS amounts of m4 mags. I just started emptying them into my ammo box and dropping the empty mags. With that ammo box and 3 mags (one of them a double), I have about 350 to 400 rounds for it. I could supply a small squad with ammo, now if I could just dual wield a pair of m4's, I'd storm Bolota airfield in a minute screaming "YOLO MOTHER TRUCKERSSSSSS!!!!" -

I did it again last night just for fun. This time the guy got tough with me and started shouting "I see you too, I'm gonna murder you with my fists mother trucker" and went on like that for a minute. I knew he couldn't see me because he just stood there in one place spinning around and around looking for me like I was in the house with him. It was so entertaining that I actually came out of the dark, something I rarely do, and gave the guy my can opener and a full, purified, water bottle. He was a good sport about it and I got a good laugh. -

The new spawns at night, blazing their "come murder me" signals are fun to mess with in direct comms. Sneak up really close while still being hidden and start saying things like "I seeeeee youuuuu". The last time I did it, the guy started screaming "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god" and then poof... logged out, can't really call it combat logged cuz there was no combat and I had no intention of hurting him, although I'm pretty sure he needed to change his underwear after that.
