Has anyone managed to figure out where this thing spawns? It's everything I want in a firearm!

What is the issue in this game with character location registration?
ThatSwoleGuy posted a topic in General Discussion
I can't figure out for anything what the issue is in this game with the clients monitoring where players are. It seems like the game is in a constant state of synchronization with player characters hopping around like fucking neutrinos, I've come back from a bit of a leave and I'd like to know if any steps are being taken to fix these issues? It makes PvP a bit of a luck game. -

Look I don't expect you to know solely from my post but I've been around DayZ for a LONG long time with this account and a few others, I certainly realize it's an alpha. I would just figure with the immense amount of financial support the team has received that there should be larger steps towards solving these big issues, it's hard to even play this build with the mindset of testing it because of this issue. -

Hmm, I understand the release process, I suppose it's just very disappointing keeping up with this game for so long and what could easily be the no.1 worst issue is still yet to be fixed. -
I wish more servers near me would switch to the newest build :/, panzies.

Is it perhaps a possibility that there is a hardcoded limit somewhere to the amount of spawn points available for items ? It seems to me that each time a new spawn point is added an old one is deleted, now these spawn points may be disabled purposefully but it is my guess that is not the case. It is my theory that old spawn points are being deleted by new, is there any information on this made public by the devs?

Theory about bugged spawn points.

Damn! They found it before me, I'm curious to know if I'm correct. -
Lol it's alright! I am usually only an idiot on the gallery board anyway.

I don't disagree at all my friend. Just thought I'd throw my distaste out there. Now that it is out of the way, funny video OP.,Your's Truly Edit: if it was too hard to realize I'm a devout hardcore player teasing a regular player. This board is for fun ah? Apologies for offense.

Looking for people to play DayZ "Hunger Games" with.
ThatSwoleGuy posted a topic in General Discussion
Just curious whether or not it would be possible to find a 'clan' or group of people who play survival games in a fairly regular fashion. By this I mean say a regulated game of DayZ on a specific server in which everyone would be restricted to a specific area and try to survive. Is there anything like this anywhere? -

You deserved it, corner peaking 3rd person weasel. That is all.

Anyone actually enjoying the game more at the mo?
ThatSwoleGuy replied to Jonah_Hobbes's topic in General Discussion
The hoe is a two shot kill on zomboids I believe. I'd like for the zombies to be improved in the glitchy/wonky sense before they increase the numbers too much more. Right now it's fun and if I am wise I can avoid most all blows. As long as I am able to skillfully avoid damage and detection later on I want as many zombies as possible. It'd be awesome to entire the fire house and see a scene from the Walking Dead, 100 zombies slowly turn to meet my eye. -
What Do you Guys Think About Not Being Able To use Certain Mask With Certain Helms?
ThatSwoleGuy replied to Deathlove's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty butthurt. In a game with not many customization options I choose the gas mask over the helmet nearly every time. I could care less about a little clipping, they can fix that later. -
player characters are too fat for an apocalipse
ThatSwoleGuy replied to papazombie's topic in General Discussion
I stoutly support any effort in regards to customization, probably not large height differentials for reasons previously stated, people would just make their characters 3 ft tall. Probably no height changers for now and maybe ever. DEFINITELY good body type customization though, I work out and fitness is incredibly important to me. I hate seeing my scrawny skinny fat character. Can't look at him. Some customization would be great. IDC if people. Choose to be skinny for slightly smaller hitboxes. -
You spotted me at the fire station but I evaded you. I watched you kill the zombies and take a few hits, I watched you patch up. I looked to your hands and saw the SKS, I knew you had the ammo I needed. I stalked you with my fireaxe but your awareness was high! I zigzagged as much as I could and managed to count out 10 shots, I knew I had you. I gave chase and hit you twice with my axe, one more and you must go down I thought to my self. That was when it happened, as my excitement peaked you switched to a fully loaded m4. Being that it was obvious we were both fresh spawns I know you couldn't have been holding a spare primary, I hadn't seen it on your back either. Rot in hell you bastard for cheating when I outplayed you with the lesser weapon. Rot in hell. Edit: And now my friend you have made me look a fool, not only did you recover from my axing to kill me but you did it with style, with a purposefully stashed second primary. I stand served.

I know you outplayed me my friend.
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
I didn't realize dual carrying was so popular. He very well may have been doing just that. Seems a little cheapy to me :P, viable tactic though. Definitely served him well, he panic fired the SKS and then had to fall back upon his second primary. Makes sense now. -
I know you outplayed me my friend.
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
Well Irish I didn't know that. Either way given what he was wearing and specifically his backpack I'm thinking it very unlikely he was carrying two primaries. If so good on him. I would prefer though that in the future this be removed as an option OR included as a balanced feature. Either way just thought I'd share this littl bit with everyone. -
I know you outplayed me my friend.
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
You can't log off with two AFAIK, we were in Elektro and I'd looted one firehouse and he was in civ stuff just like me. I think it highly unlikely given the circumstances but admittedly possible. Actually now that I think of it he had a children backpack and at one point before combat had to patch him self from zeds. Still possible? -
I know you outplayed me my friend.
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
Hey for his ammo! And I'm not claiming moral high ground lol! Karma is dirty though. It'd be nice if admins had more info so they could look into logs and see this sort of stuff and from whom if reported. Not sure how that'd work though. -
I know you outplayed me my friend.
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like you could have run into a separate player there. If hacks though my condolences. What bothers me the most is that I can't figure out how cheating remains fun for anyone. Even in an entirely roleplay situation (opposite of competitive IMO) things are less fun if you don't have to work for them. -
DISCLAIMER: The game IS in alpha, so as you all read this keep in mind that I know that the game is in alpha, and also keep that fact in your mind as well. Hello everyone, I'd like to start off by saying although this is a freshly green account I have been following the game nearly all the way back to the beginning, even when I didn't have the hardware required to run Arma 2. I say this not to claim that I know best regarding the game because I've been involved for a long time; I say this to let you all know I have been enjoying DayZ for quite some time, and as long as most around here. On to the topic at hand; The game would be much more fun if the VAST majority of weapons people find would be handguns (personal defense weapons), melee weapons (also makeshift melee), and perhaps a group of simple hunting weapons (such as bows, xbows, shotguns, and one-shot rifles). Now as stated I don't mean that there would be 0 military grade weapons, I only mean that the vast majority of weapons, and I really mean vast here, would be less efficient weapons. This does not refer to other military equipment, which I think there would be more of anyway on account of military surplus stores and the like. What would this do for the game? Well I've prepared a list of things I think this idea would do to help make the game better. Progression The first point that occurred to me is that progression with such an idea would be greatly improved. As of now while finding a good assault rifle is exciting, it is mostly exciting because finding a weapon in general takes a little while (which is also great in my mind!), however it is not exciting because you've been running around with a beat up 9mm that you managed to find while scrounging about for an hour. There isn't really much sense of progression and I think that my idea above would help give a sense of it (in cooperation with other new features). Climactic Happenings My second point is that having a decreased level of weapon arsenal available would do a great amount to add to those movie like moments we all love. A group of survivors duking it out in the city with some 12 gauges, pistols, and makeshift melee weapons would be much more interesting setting than the military grade oriented PvP. Imagine you are looting through houses and you are buzzing around every nook and cranny as you always do. You're armed with a Ruger GP100 and you've got a lucky 6 in your cylinder. You hear some footsteps outside and you go to the second story of the house to get a vantage point, low and behold it's another looter (who would have guessed?). He's armed with some generic 9mm pistol and you have no idea what his ammunition situation is, do you call out to him? Do you act with humanity and try and communicate? Well if you do there are only a few things that could happen, and most of those things result in you being pin-cushioned. You decide to wait until his back is turned and you let loose a few rounds. Too bad your aim sucks (and you can't just spray here because you don't have an assault rifle) you only manage to hit him once in the shoulder and he sprints to the next building. For the next few moments you proceed to have a shootout until you run out of bullets, which you didn't have many of to begin with. Now you know you're in trouble and your last chance is to rush him with your hatchet and hope he doesn't have much either, you take off out the door. He hits you once in the leg and you slow down a bit, but you manage to make your way to him and you hack away inhumanely at his flesh. The deed is done, the bout is won, and it looks like he had a good amount of medical supplies and food... Now while I know I'm not the most entertaining writer, I think the above story is one of the most thrilling situations we see in DayZ and I think there would be more like the above if there weren't so many guns that you allow you to point in someone's direction and blow them away. Immersion Now my last point (and most debatable one) is that these changes would add to the immersion and perhaps add to the atmosphere of the game. It would be a much more believable post-apoc situation that before long most military grade weapons would be far and few between. Perhaps this would be because of intense use and poor maintenance of such weapons and their rarity to begin with. When I imagine zombie post-apocalypse weaponry I picture rusty rifles and small weaponry along with any melee weapon an individual can find. I don't imagine survivors running around in full military gear. Perhaps the availableness of such gear can be argued one way or another regarding a real life situation but I think that either way, we would feel much more close to post-apoc if we had lower tier/makeshift gear. Now I state all of the above perhaps not to persuade you (my writing skills are poor anyway) but to bring up some points that perhaps haven't been thought about in regards to the weaponry. So I ask all of you, my fellow DayZ forumites, would you support such a balance?

Level of Weaponry Available (Poll)
ThatSwoleGuy replied to ThatSwoleGuy's topic in General Discussion
Hey guys! I'd like to bump the thread now that there are quite a few weapons in the game, how is everyone feeling about the distribution of guns now?
