All guns one shot kill = more authentic

I think fear is easily already simulated. The only players who don't jump at the sound or sight of a gun would be combat loggers and hackers. Aside from that I don't even like 1 shot kills being mentioned. If we are simulating blood and broken bones then by NO means should we be unrealistically downed by 1 shot. In reality there is a very low chance that one bullet is going to instantly incapacitate you. -
I wouldn't call what I do combat logging, if I get a good beach spawn however and some maniac is shooting around I will enter a house and log off. I do think though that it is very dishonorable to log out within active combat.

I don't think 3rd person has any place at all within such a tactical survival game. I'm using it for all it's worth now as others are but I hope for it to be gone. We have the inventory screen and load up screen to look at our characters and although it's fun to look at your character in game I'd much rather 3ps be out of the game so it couldn't be exploited. -
To any dev I'd love if you took a look at my weapon thread! There are near 300 votes and the results are pretty unanimous.

Damn I am on the stable version, I'm really sad here, this could take quite a long time to starve/dehydrate and I'm not even sure that's going to work, Server hopping isn't doing it either. -

I'm playing the standalone, I'm not sure what you guys mean by stable build. Is waiting out by starvation/dehydration my only option here? I will try to hop but I tried it once and it didn't work. -

The only reason I'm even giving this post a reply is because I so vehemently disagree with the arguments here. KOS exists about as much as the players let it, the only way to rid of it would be to suck the fun/difficulty out of the game. I have heard Rocket has said regardless that he plans to add psychological affects to random killing, but death or any of the things mentioned in the OP? Please no. I'm hardly even okay with the psychological negatives. -

I'm pretty much in agreement with you above me there, I think as far as finding better loot it should be much further inland. Hopefully we will see a largely increased zombie presence within high quality loot areas. -

My thoughts pretty much exactly. I think that a lot of the changes we are talking about here are the exact changes that make this game into an incredibly exciting and gritty survival. Emergent firefights are going to be a lot more interesting with a greater variety of weapons and an increased rarity of high end ones. -

We're pretty much on the same page then as well! You're just saying you want the option of finding a rare long-range rifle which I entirely agree with. I'd really like to get some Rocket insight on what the future outlook of weapons is. -

Of course there are a lot of people who will use long-range rifles if they can get their hands on them, that's exactly why I'm saying they should be incredibly rare. Fights are going to be notably less epic/exciting for everyone if a good amount of players are equipped with high powered rifles and easy to use military assault rifles. We'd have a much more intense environment with more stereotypical post-apocalyptic weapons. I very much agree with a good bit of your post. Regarding the last bit, would you really have less fun with those weapons? More specifically don't you think fights would be more interesting if weapons more similar to the later two mentioned are used? -

I really hope that Rocket takes a look at this, and I sincerely hope that DayZ standalone won't be dominated by long-range military grade rifles. It seems by our pole that a VAST majority would prefer for the game to at least have MORE low/medium-grade weapons than now/before. -

The way that I would figure it is that scopes and the like are incredibly rare based on poor maintenance of such things. My idea is not however entirely based on realism, more based on what would provide a fun post apocalyptic experience, an experience that would more involve close quarters fighting as opposed to instant medium/long range kills. Essentially a long range rifle would be very rare to see put together. -

A lot of the discussion here sounds great to me. Keep in mind that this is not necessarily about the ease of arming up in the game but more about what we should find when we do arm up. The votes look pretty one sided so far! Let's keep the votes coming in and discussion going. Maybe Rocket has an opinion on this. -
