I just don't get into the same amount of gunfights in exp to judge it but I think it's pretty much accepted that at close quarters combat is a crap shoot atm in dayz. The freeze part is a different thing and may or may not be related. I haven't had a freeze in combat like that, I've had plenty of sudden frame drops to single figures but not necessarily in combat. I'm honestly not sure, All I know is I avoid close quarters comber. -

yep close quarters is a disaster. bit of distance between you and the target and it's fine but anything under 25m is a disaster edit: i'm talking about stable specifically -

if there are beards then we should also be able to shave. These days when I see someone with a beard I think 'hipster' - I used to hate shaving and still do but the idea that I might be classed amongst those those hipster pricks has me shaving at least twice a week.

First night was awesome, second was a bit depressing lol. I've too many guns on stable atm(I can arm you if needs be.) I'm looking to go out in a blaze of glory before I head back to experimental so give me a shout whenever you fancy it. @Madmcardle - sorry man, I wasn't judging. When I started out I played on low pops too but once you taste high pops you don't want to go back. You may not necessarily see more people but you constantly feel the threat of people being around. -
People don't typically nail a load of planks on top of a well for a laugh. Wells dry up or worse.

Last few times I checked you were playing on a servers with less than 10 people, sometimes a lot less. Fair enough if you want to do that but don't try to claim I'm into cod just because I'm willing to be on a 225 sq km map with more than a handful of other players. I bet you have great gear though:D Also, learn what controls? There aren't that many. You have over 200 hours in game, -

man, just play on full servers. So what if you die? It's so much more exciting. Give me a shout next time on steam and we'll do it. I pretty much only play on full servers. -
yep it relies on killing background processes making a difference. On a high end pc they make very little difference but if you have an older cpu and less ram it may help. I tried it on my last laptop and it didn't do much good but then again I manually removed a lot of startup processes myself to get as much juice as possible. There's always a ton of junk e.g. apple stuff, adobe stuff and various other bloatware. This prog removes all that, at least temporarily.

Give it a go. If it doesn't do anything for you then uninstall it. I shouldn't do any harm.

Was about to start a thread but this came up in "Similar Topics." It really is odd considering all the hats/trousers/clothes that we don't seem to have clothes shops. In fact we only have two (edit 3 - the one behind the shutter) shops and both look like general stores. Most main streets of any town I've been to in the world have lots of shops with big plate glass windows.

Some guy posted a video on reddit saying 10 gave him huge improvements in dayz a while ago. As others have stated, I feel a lot of it was down to it being a fresh install. However hearing rick mention it gives the claims a bit more credence. -

have you done the router firewall stuff too? also is this something that has just happened out of the blue or since the last update or what? if it's out of the blue then a virus is highly likely try adding this to your launch options in dayz -port=25007 (right click game>set launch options) -

It doesn't necessarily have to be high value. If I saw a pumpkin on the road with a note beside it I'm going to think 1) someone has left a note and pumpkin 2) it's a trap. The only bits of paper I've ever read were when they were in unexpected places. Last one was at the bottom of a hunting stand. It was blank and obviously someone was just clearing their inventory but because it was in a place paper doesn't spawn I read it. And I think I've attempted to read notes maybe 5 times in well over 1000 hours -

Find firewall/security setting, turn off (or to low security settings.) HOWEVER if this is just a new thing happening to you, see Steak's post above - I'd be a little worried you have some sort of virus/spyware in which case turning all your security/firewalls off may not be the best idea in the world. -

If you log in too soon after a server restarts you can lose your character. Were you rushing back on the moment it looked like the server was up? Always wait a minute or so. -

I'd guess it may be a firewall issue, either software or your router's. Temporarily turn off windows firewall and the firewall on your router and see if you can join. If you can then you can start narrowing down the exact issue. -

Leave it beside a high value object i.e. an akm, a scope or a hunting backpack, and in an obvious to see location like the middle of the road. -
exp .58 has been fairly low pop in general but given that caveat I can state that I didn't hear phantom sounds once on exp. We'll see what happens on stable high pops but I'm optimistic the most annoying bug in the world is on the way out.

is it like you are not moving your mouse and it's looking up at the sky and 360 all around you etc and you can't stop it - if so then that's your internet/the server you are connected to being laggy. I've had the same, I thought it was a hack, other people have had it too. it's generally a laggy server or your internet connection isn't great. I've had it once or twice. have you always had this or is it a new thing?
