  1. I actually like the zombies in breaking point. They are dumb as someone who has a brain virus but there are way more of them. Sometimes they'll walk right past you other times they'll attack. I think maybe reducing the complexity of zombies and increasing the number would work. As it stands we seem to be trying to create complicated ai when maybe someone with a zombie virus isn't going to be that complex. Also with hordes, you need horde ai not to have each individual zombie super intelligent. Birds/ants aren't super clever yet in numbers they can create incredible stuff. Same with recreating human crowds. You don't need to model each human to be intelligent you need to examine the group dynamic. What I always hoped in dayz was that the zombies we saw were the leaders. Like in a flock of birds. You only need the leader to be 'intelligent' the rest of the crowd can just follow - only the head zombie needs to spot/chase, the rest follow and attack nearby targets. Making all the zombies as buffed as the leader is just a resource hog. Essentially follow the leader and lash out at any local targets. Not all individually scan in all directions.
  2. Maybe leave the town. I played an hour on high pops and haven't died yet because I didn't run into town. I heard gunshots and ran to the closest place I thought people wouldn't be. Best plan is to run away from the town you spawn in and go to the closest smaller town.

Client is stuck on experimental build

That is almost exactly what I did.

Call me a fan boy if you will, but I'm pumped!

I'm generally lone wolf on exp so it'll be good to play in a group again.

    Status Report - 14 Aug 2015

I love the way zones are evolving It was originally this http://i.imgur.com/Bvov6gf.jpg which was way too arbitrary imo. Now it's looking like prison island or the bases at zelen/pavlovo can be part of zone 1 despite being geographically quite far away. I am so cool with that. Absolutely no reason for zones to be contiguous.

Anyone else have a huge problem with combat?

close quarters combat is a crap shoot. you are better off getting a bit of range between you and your opponent

    Abundance is Realism

I've searched this thread for the word "loot" and it's not in any of my posts. Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else, just like you are confused by the concept of strawmen and the way the world works. I'd hate to think that mr. anti-strawman is attributing arguments to people that they never made. That'd be a bit hypocritical imo.

    Abundance is Realism

Oh hai, I'm back. Can you tell me what argument I refuted that wasn't presented because that's the very crux of the idea of a strawman? Earlier in this thread I refuted the abundance argument and through-out this thread this is the only argument I attempted to refute. If you can point me to a post where I refute some argument that wasn't made then go ahead - otherwise your straw man thesis, just like your maths is based on ignorant nonsense. I take back that you were trolling. I don't think you are capable nor clever enough. Here's a strawman argument as an example as you obviously don't understand the concept: Beizs doesn't think we landed on the moon so what would he know about this.

r/Games AMA with Lead Producer Brian Hicks

I mightn't agree with Brian 100% of the time but I trust him 100% of the time. It's amazing that he puts in so many hours over and above his office hours into the game. He's a real dayz evangelist.

    Abundance is Realism

where have I presented a straw man? Do you even know what a straw man is. Please point out exactly where I use a straw man. Straw men and mathematics are two things you like to talk a lot about yet have very little knowledge of. Anyway I'm out. Reminds me of the wrestling with pigs quote.

    Abundance is Realism

It's not because it's based on false assumptions about how the world works. This thread and the theory that abundance is realistic in a post-apocalyptic world where a virus is the main cause of the downfall is asinine. If feel like it's people trolling as the idea is so stupid.
  14. At least he spared us the dirty protest

    Abundance is Realism

Sorry but your logic is flawed. It's more like: Day 1: Panic. People stock up, Stores are emptied. People can eat. Day 2: People are holed up, most people eat as normal. Stores are not resupplied. Day 3: People are coming to the end of their food. Most will stay holed up. Those without supplies will begin to search for food. Vulnerable people will become targets. Day 4: Anarchy. You seem to imagine a situation where the stores and larders are full then with a snap of god's fingers most of the population just die.

    Abundance is Realism

Realistically stores only contain three days of product. If they don't get resupplied they'll basically be empty. The are resupplied "just in time" - if people panic as they do with impending bad weather or crisis then they often get left with empty shelves. Google "three days from anarchy" or "nine meals from anarchy" and you'll find plenty of information backing that up.

    How tall is the character?

It's not so much the tallness of the character, it's the position of the eyes.
  18. I think Vera has gone lesbian. She's been hanging out with that dark haired one out of vybor. Hate to be the neighbours with the sound those two make.

    Sooooo...whens .58 going stable?

It's going to be part of the next status report presumably. Thing is I'd imagine the status report that Brian intended to deliver today is significantly different to the one we will eventually see. Also the .58 patch one back was better than the release candidate currently on exp which was great but had a couple of bugs. The latest patch was chasing perfectionism and in doing that there were unintended consequences when they tried to fix one last bug. All that said .58 is a huge leap forward. CLE mostly works, Persistence mostly works, Phantom sounds are gone. I played a bit of .57 this week and honestly I don't how people are still playing it.

    think he meant "calm":D

    Sooooo...whens .58 going stable?

You would have found it irritating if it had been released. Why not play some exp? I think they made the right call not releasing. Next week probably btw.
  24. freethink

    Where has the fun gone?

Stable is boring because it's so easy. On the previous .58 it took me two days before I had a scoped rifle and decent handgun.
