I didn't get a decent fps boost from turning off shadows completely and imo everything looks weird with them on. I have them very low.

What's get me in woods is when foliage/trees go from low res to higher res as you get closer. I'd love to minimize that a bit effect a bit. I see in in a lot of people's youtube video and it's very distracting. Not sure what it's called - it's like pop in but not quite the same. -

I play with shadows on low and they look better than the second pic. I MIGHT have done something in Nvidia 3d advanced settings though and the config files. tbh I've spent more hours trying to configure the dayz/arma 3 settings than I have playing a lot of other games. -
Best off recording to a different drive. (Not a partition - a different physical drive.) A cheap and fast alternative to an ssd drive is a sd card. If you have a second pc you are best off using that for recording and the first one for playing on. I found losing 10-15fps typical in all software when recording onto the same pc but the above cut that to nothing.

If you have a printed map then you don't have to alt tab or bring up the overlay. The print out I use is dayzdb but just the map and place names. I've also got a couple of paper maps of local areas for sniping purposes. I think you completely misunderstood what I said earlier when you said "haha, never thought about googling DayZ map? :P" in reply to me saying "I literally print screened both halves of the dayzdb map then printed out each on an a4 and stuck them together." Also what's the name of this thread?

I used to think all the motion sickness posts were bs until I got motion sickness. Had headbob etc off. It's basically down to low or stuttering fps. I'd get it after 30 min on hardcore. Once i was able to get over 30 fps in general I haven't had it since. I've never had it in any other game. -

I feel a lot of hardcore players play on 3rd person servers but in first person then die a lot and come on the forum to complain. If those players just stuck to hardcore then demand would increase but they'd rather a good moan on forums than actually commit to anything. I play a bit of hardcore. For me, it's an entirely different game. I've never had an issue finding a server of any kind (low pop, med pop, high pop) -

You should use this map: http://dayzdb.com/map and figure out where you are by reading roadsigns. Zombies will soon be unable to go through walls. We are about to test the initial implementation of this on the experimental servers.

Judging by the steam forum it seems like quite a few scum got banned. -
once you get past the first couple of hours you can, if you want, live forever but what's the point of that? When I was playing solo in my early days I went 50/100 hours but it was tense and boring. Since then I've died lots of times but had more fun in those short lives.

Seriously I only noticed footsteps days ago despite them being in since the beginning so I could've easily missed it.

Is there a chamber option with the sks? I only get it with small arms and maybe the sporter/possible the akm. Basically any weapon that requires a magazine will allow you chamber afaik. Guns like the magnum/sks/mosin don't have the chamber option, I thought.

yeah they are similar to the speedloader for the magnum. You should drag six bullets into the magnum and leave the speedloader in your inv then you can just press r when you are out of bullets. Putting your speedloader in when you aren't under fire loses the advantage of the speedload completely.
