link not working for me
-
Yep that'd be a good call imo. os on the hybrid then steam on the second drive. The fiddling is not so bad. You'll be fine.
-
If you have room for two that's better. You put you os on one and steam and games on the other. Even two separate drives i.e. a 7200 and an ssd would be an improvement. Avoid raid 0 if it's an option. Have no raid at all if you're using ssd(s) . A lot of laptops with dual drives are set as raid 0 and although it probably helped with old mechanical drives it's not a real issue with ssds and if ever one of your drives fails it's a total disaster and everything is gone from both. Like all of us no matter what machine you end up with you'll spend more time trying in the settings/config files than you've played entire other games. It's the way of dayz and bohemia games in general. I think you'll be fine though.

No idea. There were multiple updates of server software as well as client software. I had at least 3 exp client updates but it could well have been more. It's been a while and I drank quite a lot of wine in the process so my recollections are hazy.

Yeah I didn't get the 60 quid part.

Not that much. Tone down the breathing sounds. That said you do get used to them BUT I still found it painful to listen too. Really the biggest issue for me was/is fps so not specifically about 1p but I found that in 3rd I can cope with low fps whereas in 1st I start feeling sick. Also my fov is quite narrow. I may be wrong but the narrower the fov the better the fps seemed to be. I have head bob off obviously. I think as well in first person that mouse acceleration and sensitivity set incorrectly are the cause of people feeling not only sick but not in control. Maybe better defaults in settings might help? I'm an fps player but I've played far more in 3rd than 1st. 3rd is a good game even with it's flaws but 1st is an absolute adrenaline rush. Sometimes I have to play a bit of third to calm down after a first person session.

They are not up yet. Most wednesdays they do maintenance and updates on all the servers. Today they did an extra big one. Be patient! Hope you have a great time.

I didn't get to play the final .57 experimental but played all the .57's before that. I'm actually more interested in seeing how this is received. It couldn't be as bad as .55.

Say goodbye to you flashlights. (and free batteries)

I usually have a lighter and some change. Random items would be cool if we are to have items. Two from a pool of fairly low level stuff: string, rags, torch, can opener, battery, matches, pocket knife, map etc - items like that. -
I play on a laptop from a few years ago: msi gt780dxr specs: cpu: i7-2670qm gpu: nvidia gtx 570m 1.5gig 8gig ram 2x250gb ssd Your machine seems to have far higher specs (apart from the ssds) so you can play no problem. I upgraded my machine to ssd but I'd played hundreds of hours when the laptop had a slow (7200rpm) hd. You can play. I also play over wifi. Again never been an issue for me.

I wonder will that be this week or next. I'm probably not going to bother with stable.

Should just be the clothes on your back imo. -
Really? Wow. It really did add to the game imo. Odd that it was apparently random. Wasn't just in zone 1 come to think about it but I saw very few backpacks in zone one in .57 compared to 55. Anyway, thanks for sharing the info/thoughts etc. We appreciate it.
-
Yep. Just providing feedback here. I noticed in exp hardly any backpacks on the coast near spawn points but quite a lot of burlap and rope (often together) and it was one of the best ideas imo. It's defines crafting/improvising as something you have to do. That was a case of the zones working. But I think someone should be able to get a gun and ammo with a bit of work even if they don't leave the coast. Say going Berezino to Balota. If you start to define zones then you are kind of taking away player choice and saying ok the game is you spawn at the coast and run inland and basically towards the nwaf. I played on Old School Dayz up until .55 (and will return) but that's all we did and tbh I found having a goal like that got a bit boring. Also the nwaf was just camped by large groups who hoovered up all the gear. Even if you killed a few of them their friends would strip the body and the dead guys would be back fully geared in 30 mins or so. Just food for thought. I appreciate the work and thinking you guys are putting into the game.
-
most excited about this. Not sure on the end goal being the nwaf. tbh I got a bit bored with it whereas I still feel nostalgia for the old (sa) days at the neaf. Some great places in zone two also - zelen mil base and pavlovo. The zones seems a bit arbitrary tbh. Why would a mil barracks at pavlovo be less likely to spawn something thav veresnik? I like the zone Idea but I think maybe spawn zone and then the rest of the map is enough. Then it's about individual buildings. Enjoyed the report though.

I've been banned from this forum and steam so even though I consider myself a fan I couldn't be considered a fan boy. I don't think you understand the difference between criticism and constructive criticism. They want detailed constructive criticism whereas someone saying "omg this is shit" doesn't help. Have you ever posted to the tracker with specific issues? For the record, I think .55 was a terrible release and I think maybe even the devs recognise that. Me saying it's shit doesn't help, Me posting detailed feedback on the shit things happened to me helps. I do agree that blind fanboys are as damaging to the game as people like you though.

You don't need to cheer them at all imo. But they do need you help testing their game. If you have fun along the way great. If you don't then stop doing it. Your point re money: Obviously bohemia want to make money but as well as that they want to make great games. No-one wants a shit game on their cv. So let's pretend this game never gets finished and it just makes loads of money through ea sales - how does that benefit hicks or harton? It doesn't. SO I don't see the logic in what you are claiming. It would destroy bohemia's reputation. Are you saying they'll change their names and go from kickstarter to kickstarter for the rest of their lives and just produce shit games that sell loads in ea but never end up finished? There's no logic to your argument. They could just stop development now if it was just about money. As far as I know they are under no legal obligation to finish the game. And yet what I see is bi staff when they aren't working on the game, they are playing and when they aren't playing they are watching people play. I honestly think people buy stuff just to complain about it and ea means they get years of complaining so it's a cheap way to bitch. Either way it's value for money.

Can someone tell me if this is normal thing to do?

I bet you have another account on here. -

there's no right nor wrong about it. That said, you are leaving your back exposed. If you feel morally compromised then play 1st person. It's a very normal thing to do in 3rd...google veresnik youtube and you'll see a ton of videos of players out side the wall using similar tactics to see everything happening on the other side. -
did you watch the video? I dismissed it at first and even in the first 30 seconds but it's impressive imo.

If I right click on my speakers icon, select recording devices, click on mic, click properties then the listen tab and select "Listen to this device" I can get the same ghostly feedback - check you haven't done that. Sound properties is a maze. I thought I needed a virtual audio mixer or actual hardware mixer myself recently(nearly bought both.*) I didn't just had to set things up properly. Last time I built a pc soundcards were a thing but apparently they are part of the mb now - I only just learnt this myself recently:D *Also priced various soundcards
-
I didn't think soundcards were still a thing unless you are making music or something. My usb headset* has a built in amp - helps avoid shouting The weird voices thing is you have set your headphones to listen too - or some weird setting. It's just feedback. I did it myself recently when I was unhappy with my headset. *turtle beach z22

If I turned on post processing I would be sick for real due to my low fps.
-
I'm getting nothing like that any more. Very odd. The only thing I get is freezes but that's not even consistent and seems to be server specific.
