They've only gone and changed depots! I'm raging even though I honestly have very little idea what that means! https://steamdb.info/app/221100/history/

Possible Issue for the Cause of Motion Sickness
freethink replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
For me, the main thing was stuttering fps or fps going below 20ish (Once i'm in teens fps for a while I'll start to get a headache.) I was one of the assholes thought people were using it as an excuse btw. I never got it properly in third but 1st person plus low fps and it was guaranteed. dayz was the first game I've ever got it in but I noticed playing miscreated with an average 17fps that I got similar feelings. I think also once you get it once you are much more susceptible to it. I think having a narrow fov added to it too. I never got it with arma3 despite going well below 30fps but I think if arma three had a lot of going up flights of stairs then I may get it there too. -
I'm the kids in the back of the car saying "are we there yet?" over and over. But seriously, are we there yet?

community contributions outside of artwork/Youtube - unwanted?
freethink replied to 12eggs's topic in Gallery
I think you'll be fine but you may want to contact a mod directly. -
car parts maybe. more on the cle. zombie numbers and the bugs they cause. biggest issue for me in stable is the mad desync/lag in close quarters combat - so maybe something on that.

how to get dayz to run better without turning graphics down loads?
freethink replied to JarheadLeeds's topic in General Discussion
i have a 980ti and have to turn off shadows and actually got worse frames in berezino than I did on my laptop:D the op is basically asking how long is a piece of string. You just have to check out the various guides then tweak, test then tweak again. As kichilron intimated sometimes turning stuff up gives better results than turning things down. I have the following: bloom 0 alpha to coverage: disabled antialiasing: low (disabled is another good choice) edge smoothing: fxaa high hdr quality: low post process quality: disabled terrain quality: high (it actually makes no difference what you set this to afaik) texture detail: very high texture filtering: high video memory: auto also in dayz.cfg I have GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; and in username.DayZprofile I have the following: sceneComplexity=1000000; shadowZDistance=100; //irrelevant if you have shadows off viewDistance=1800; preferredObjectViewDistance=1200; terrainGrid=6.25; I'll be changing sceneComplexity to about 200000 and terrain grid to 12.5 if needs be. Those two have a big effect. But throwing even the best card at dayz without tweaking the game settings will equal low frames. tbh I haven't played that much with the new card. I probably spent more hours tweaking the game for my old 570m than I have played with the new 980ti. -
One of you has to change your port number Go to launch options and add -port=27010 as an example. Only one of you do this.

Makes me lol thinking of the thing that makes people quit is the size of the supermarkets.- 34 replies

mr. gorbachev, tear down this small mall! seriously, I've seen a load of small shops like this. It doesn't claim to be a supermarket.- 34 replies

So what? I'm sure e3 took precedence over trying to placate people who look for stuff to complain about every release. If it wasn't the changelog you'd be complaining about something else. So it goes.

Come on now, credit where credit is due they changed "things" to "items." That's professionalism right there.

It's just too easy on stable re loot. It's a real double edged sword, .57 is a solid release and people like it but the loot is a joke and there's no real reason to leave the coast. When they eventually take away the loot there will be hysteria. I love pvp and I quite like the coast but the best part of the game is the struggle early on and there's no real struggle in .57 stable. Cannot wait for the next experimental. I think I've honestly had more fun trying to survive in a broken game than in stable. And I'm not one of those people loves picking apples either. But exp had a bit of The Long Dark feel about it for me in various exp releases i.e. fucking hard to survive and when you do it feels like you've achieved something. Anyway onwards and upwards.

Say goodbye to you flashlights. (and free batteries)
freethink replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
Must've been an hour before I released you needed to put the battery in the torch:D What got me hooked to dayz in the beginning was I didn't have (or know how to use) a torch, couldn't see a thing, had no idea where I was, was dying of thirst and then I hear my footsteps splashing and I look down and get the 'drink' option. 1200 hours later -
I've been playing black mesa (hl remake) the last couple of days and it just looks and feels right. The only time I feel like I'm a midget is when I can't get on a ledge that I could in rl. The view is spot on as is the fov.

You need to create a separate account for the tracker. Your forum username/password won't work. edit: I probably spoke too soon.

Yes you'll be able to play. It's pretty good. Better than the one I play on.

I'd guess it's your router. Like I have a thing where if I refresh the server list a few times in a row, it'll kill my internet connection. When you say you game stops do you mean freezes or what?

I use it a lot when i'm in highly dangerous places (e.g. veresnik mil base) but less so when I'm in fields or woods. I miss it not being in other games. But even though it's great, my fov being kind of narrow is still an issue for me. Since I brought it up, Veresnik is the best example of how much more exciting the game is when played in first. It's pretty exciting in third but in first it's terrifying. In 3rd you typically get to the outside wall and survey the compound for a couple of minutes before entering. In first you go in pretty much blind.

I moved from 3rd to 1st around christmas when I got ssds so could guarantee ok frames most of the time and it's funny how it feels like the camera is in your characters chest. Then you realise, it's not, it's just that you've been used to a camera up high in third. It still feels like maybe it's slightly too low though, as if it's in your neck or mouth. A wider fov (but not to the point of being stupid) is a biggie. It's very easy to run right past people in dayz (and arma too) that you'd definitely see in real life. A big reason people probably don't play 1st is it's jarring after playing 3rd. Suddenly you get all the super load breathing, the cam seems super super low so it's off putting initially.

This was a decent suggestion when sticks were a spawn and you couldn't get them through cutting down bushes or search on the forest floor but now it makes no sense. I remember having to crawl from north of the neaf to svet just so I could get killed by zombies before you could make splints easily.
