EZ mode. Popular with the kids these days...
Zogvarn replied to jjw100's topic in General Discussion
Got news for ya man. I'm a bandit. I've got a group I play with regularly as well. Look at my post history. I don't KoS. I think about the situation and determine if I should shoot someone. I rob people when I/we have the upper hand. I'll shoot without warning if someone is a threat. I'll engage targets of opportunity if I think it is in our best interest and if our mission for the night allows me to. And you didn't read, or if you did, didn't comprehend what the OP said. The OP isn't trying to force you to change your play style. He just wants you to think about putting yourself in your characters position on occasion. Which believe it or not you are already doing without knowing it. "I play this game for the survival aspect. Getting gear, getting gear for my group, keeping us alive, building up a bit of stock, a vehicle, etc.." That right there my friend is a bit of roleplaying. You are playing it as a survival game. Which it is. You are trying to survive in this apocalypse which is what the game is about. You, my friend, are roleplaying. Congratulations. Now, are all roleplayers carebears? Not in the least huh? Have fun man and luck to you and your clan. Calm down a bit next time when reading and you'll understand thing better. :) -
Oh Zinger!

EZ mode. Popular with the kids these days...
Zogvarn replied to jjw100's topic in General Discussion
Look at it like this. With the way Rocket is going with development currently and what he has mentioned to be wanting to implement later, the ez-mode coastal warriors will soon move on to another game. SA won't be moddable for a long time. So those players will have to put up with what Rocket comes up with instead of modding the hell out of SA and changing it into nothing but a 100's vehicles and weapons galore like they did with the Dayz mod. That right there will get rid of the vast majority of the ez-mode kids. Just got to have some patience man. Have faith in the Rocket. -

And you didn't read his post either it seems. He isn't saying to get rid of KoS, quite the contrary. -

I came expecting another rant. Left pleasantly surprised. I would redo the title though to something less trollish. A lot of folks won't even read your post due tot he title and just comment without knowing the content. This is well said and really sums up the whole post. And I see a number of people didn't even read the post at all. (replies above mine) -
"Healthy" Status Condition = Blood Regeneraiton?
Zogvarn replied to applejaxc's topic in New Player Discussion
Ajaxc: Yea seems they are canceling each other out. I would put in a bug report just in case though giving the same or even more info as you did here. -
Bad, bad, bad. Remember kids, your folks have locks on the cleaning chemicals and medicine cabinet for a reason.

So... now what? (The DayZ Paradox)
Zogvarn replied to superfluidity's topic in New Player Discussion
Yea its usually a server reset that does that or a internet hiccup somewhere. As for the OP's original question, I advise checking out and exploring the whole map. Become familiar with the various routes used to get between towns and the vantage points to check them out before moving into them. Same goes for the military bases. Though that is more dangerous since most military bases/airfields are considered to be free fire zones. Most people in the north/northeast are very careful and don't trust others easy. But they will often talk to you once the initial "Will he shoot?" dance is over. The northwest side of the map can be....well, lets just say those folks are a different breed. When/if you get bored from exploring solo try to find a friend. Either you will get into a pretty intense situation and start back at the coast or you'll from then on have someone to play with. Welcome to Dayz  -
Just wanted to take a stab at clarifying KOS misconceptions
Zogvarn replied to fathairybeast's topic in General Discussion
This topic= horse The responses = hitting the horse Horse has been dead for 18+ months. The whole things has been done 1000's of times already. The mods need to just lock every one of these threads. Nothing new comes from them. -
Hunter pack with a couple of protective cases I find to be plenty of storage and doesn't block my view when in 1st person. Plus its a greenish shade which is a bonus. I use a black bandana, green raincoat, tac vest, and Autumn pants (they blend in with rocks well when prone). Had friends almost walk on me in high grass and rolling terrain before they saw me.

Why are we making it harder to be friendly??
Zogvarn replied to Lidskjalf's topic in General Discussion
That's all you had to say. And no. KOS is here to stay. Deal with it one way or another. -
No idea then mate. Probably has to do with how your network is set up in your house.

Bow. I was really excited when they added the x-bow to the mod then sad panda :( on how they implemented it. Would love a recurve bow or compound bow but they have to implement it correctly dangit. Decent range (50m max), quiet, good stopping power, and a decent reload speed. Make the fletchings easy to be seen in grass/woods for recovering arrows. Could have red dot sights for them, balances, etc. all type of attachments are out there for bows. Edit: yes I know bows can be deadly past 50m. The suggested range is just an example.

Persistent loot and server resets/stability. Is it possible?
Zogvarn replied to serenityrick's topic in General Discussion
OP couple of points you are missing when rocket talks about persistent loot. 1. There is the item degradation you mentioned and yes I believe it will be enough to make people have to constantly be updating their gear even if hoarded. 2. Rocket also talks about having loot being monitored and decided by a hive wide system. As an example, there will only be 50,000 M4's that would spawn in the game across all servers. There would only be so much food in the game across all servers, etc. This would keep the hugely excessive amount of hoarding that goes on in the mod in check by having a finite amount of each item possible to be spawned/looted across all servers. -
The future importance of hunting, cooking, the northlands and rare items (with pics!)
Zogvarn replied to serenityrick's topic in General Discussion
I really like this idea and the suggestions that followed. One thing we are not taking into consideration is zombie area concentration (ZAC). Large cities would naturally have a higher ZAC than the rural areas in the center of the maps. This indicates that the coastal areas would be harder to loot even if there is more canned food there due to it being less safe (higher zombie count and lack of better weapons). Sure 1-3 zombies now are easily handled with an axe or M4, but get say 10-15 of them after you and things get a lot harder to deal with. I believe the ZAC will naturally push players into the north of the map. Add in the suggestions here for hunting/fishing and area dispersion of game will really make for interesting gameplay. It is one of the reasons I'm excited as hell for the future of this game. -
Game isn't LAN compatible. Leave the LAN, join the game individually. One of you find a server and the rest use steam to join him from the friends list. Easy.
-
1. Not needed and over complicates the inventory system. 2. This is a balance issue. Add too much space and you remove the stress that comes from having to "survive" and scavenge by entering towns. Similar thing will happen once/if storage tents/buildings get added to the game. The more stuff you can carry the less you worry about having to enter towns. As is with a hunter pack and a couple protective cases, I only really have to enter a town to scavenge every 16-20 hours of play time. Sometimes realism has to take a backseat to game balance and smooth game play. 3. See #2 4. I like this suggestion actually and if i recall correctly, Rocket has mentioned something similar to this being discussed for future development.

.357 is glitched to not spawn on regular servers currently, but that is fixed on test servers. So next update we should have the .357 on regular servers. :)
-
Because post count doesn't indicate experience with SA/mod. There was no question in the OP. The tent/storage issue has been covered and discussed by Rockett already. Simple search would have told the op that.
-
Alpha. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
-
You want daylight server? Click on any server with 20+ people and it will be daylight guaranteed.
-
This isn't like the mod where you can kill animals and cook them for food. At least not yet, it is supposed to be coming. :) So for now you will have to enter town to get food from buildings. Edit: Oh and welcome to the new players :D Good luck to you.
-
Yes it does count. You can easily outrun zeds. Double tap "W" and there is no way they can catch you. But OP is excused this time as he was a first time player.
-
*shrug* Was just adding what I had found out for myself. The system seems way more complicated than we currently know about. It also seems to be missing some key indicators still. I'm sure it will get ironed out in the coming months.
