So you slipped climbing down a ladder, fell, and broke your neck thus killing you. This never happens to anyone ever. Just kidding. :P But seriously, its an alpha. There will be huge bugs. There will be character wipes. Things will change massively without any warning. Just report the bugs and help the devs out. This is Dayz. Never get attached to your loot, but always be proud of how long you survived (or didn't depending). Take a break for a few days and give it another go man. Every play session in Dayz is different. -

@Zeds: I don't agree with you often, but this time I do. @OP: Currently, the objective is to test for bugs, test server and hive stability, and to let the devs get metrics based upon a large amount of users. Also, we're here to give our feedback about mechanics put into the game. Even if that feedback results in a bunch of us arguing about it due to our passion for the game. The overall objective for the game is to survive. How you go about doing that is up to you. Human interaction, good and bad, is part of that equation and will directly effect how you confront the current and future challenges the devs throw at us. -
I think I'll take a break and wait for anti-hacks to be implemented...

EEEEENK! Wrong. Loot isn't respawning now while the devs work on stability issues and the database. Loot respawning would just increase the server and database load. -
Edit: Wait you guys are talking about a TV show? I thought you meant the movie. I saw that movie and recommend it to everyone. Plenty of action, some deep personal and moral questions being asked, and a unique take on the apocalyptic genre. Since it deals with similar themes as DayZ, it does give some ideas of situations or conditions that could be used in game in the future. Though I think it will take quite a while before we are able to see any of them due to current engine and map limitations.

Extreme weather effects would be nice. Adds additional complexity to trying to survive. @Doctor Zed I'm not sure splitting the servers that way is a good idea. Now what might be done is have the seasons set by the hive and change every 3-4 weeks or so (for game play purposes not realism). Then have extreme weather conditions based upon the season be determined by the server.

But does it actually poison you? I've sprayed disinfectant on cereal and canned food before and never got sick. Haven't tried on fruit though.

Until the medical system gets fleshed out, there is no need for blood bags really. Currently Saline bags do a much better job without the drawbacks of blood bags. Its nice we can test the blood typing and such, but I wouldn't worry about it right now.

Barsyl: I've watched that video. While an excellent guide, it doesn't cover the full health system. It only covers those areas pertaining to food/water intake and doesn't take into account sickness or injuries. Just wanted to make sure people are aware of that.

There are a number of threads where people have done test confirming that the bipod+acog+MP parts+prone+ pristine must be used together to get any type of decent accuracy. If any part of that equation is missing the M4 is shit at anything farther than 100m and even 100m is pushing it. I've missed with acog+MP parts shooting at zombies from standing inside 100m and yes it was zeroed to 100m at the time.

Sorry to burst your bubble cupcake, but I only play on servers with 30+ people and I don't bounce around to find one that just reset either. -
Desynch issue here. I've run into it on a couple of servers. I keep a list of 8 servers I generally play on that do not suffer from this issue and never had it affect me again. Oh and never combat log man. Its just a douche move whether you are lagged/desynched or not.

This is true, though some will argue with you about it. I didn't get my healthy status till I used the alcohol tincture myself. Kept healthy by always cleaning my wounds after a fight.

Weird cause I never had issues with using the crowbar or shovel when i got head shots. Course its a bit hard to make sure they are headshots, but at a minimum you should be able to keep them knocked down to finish them off relatively easily.

Don't server hop it isn't needed. That is all.

Hit'em in the head baker. Doesn't matter what melee weap you use they will go down pretty quick. Do melee attacks in first person instead of third. The hit detection is fine, its just that 3rd person perspective gives you a distorted view of where the weapon is actually swinging.

I didn't mean to infer we shouldn't discuss the issue. Just do not think it is immediately needed or should have dev resources diverted to it right now. Rocket already stated they are considering the possibility of including modding capabilities sometime in the future. (People always take this as meaning it will be included for some reason.) But that security concerns have to be addressed. Your ideas have some merit as to how we can attempt to weed out unwanted admins and such. But ultimately it all comes down to security and splitting the community. And after seeing how it affected the mod, I am against the idea of modding and private hives completely. Even if it is a losing battle. -
Straight survival isn't hard even with the new spawns. Move north and/or inland there is still plenty of gear to find. Each of the new spawn areas has a water source nearby so that isn't an issue and you don't need food right away after spawning. Fill up on water and move away from the initial spawn area to one of the more inland towns or Berezino area. I spent roughly 2.5 hours last night watching the southern approach to Berezino and Orlevets area on a full server. I saw 2 people total and both of them were already kitted out pretty good (minimum axe, backpack, upgraded clothing) before even hitting Berezino proper. I moved southwest from there and watched the Elektro eastern approach. Saw about 20 players over a one hour period. Those guys were lucky to have a melee weapon or backpack before getting into downtown Elektro. Key is not to go west along the coast from initial spawn. Everyone is going that way.

Why are my shots impacting the ground infront of me?

Change positions. I've had my gun actually shoot a tree 1m-2m behind me (according to friend). I also had a rock, that was at my knees while i was standing, block a shot. Not to mention this bug as well when lying prone. Probably a mixture of desynch and where the shot originates on the weapon model. -
Your guy looks good, grats on the gear. Quick question: Did find all that gear by server hopping or only playing on low pop servers? I'm not implying anything here just curious. There are so many people saying you have to server hop or only play low pop servers to get gear and I haven't found this to be an issue. I find plenty of gear just by going north and knowing where to look.
