Barricading- Will we be able to push couches, tables, chairs, and etc against doors?
sess130 replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in Suggestions
In Dean's roadmap presentation, he explains most of it. However, I believe that you won't be able to move furniture and such. I think it will be mostly finding 2x4's to barricade or build. -
How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
sess130 replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
I think they're headed in the right direction. The dev team is taking their time with the game, which is fantastic imho. Too many games today rush the development and sell an unfinished product for the full price (i.e. bf4), which just annoys the community. At least the BI team is taking the time to work out the bugs and fix the game instead of turning it into a complete money-grab. Honestly, I have sunk almost 200 hours into this game and I still play it every so often, which is amazing for an alpha. Imagine how good this game will be at release or even after release when they (possibly) add more content? -
What would be the point of getting attachments, if they give absolutely no benefit? A compensator (for the mosin) would definitely reduce the recoil of the gun, and the m4 mp buttstock would make the gun more comfortable to shoulder (i.e. increase accuracy slightly). It makes sense in a gameplay perspective and somewhat irl. All games borrow ideas from others, but comparing Dayz to COD is comparing apples to oranges.

Honestly, the suspense and adrenaline rush when encountering other people. Story time! My buddy and I were chilling at the NWAF waiting for the third person of our group, when I noticed a group of three approach the firestation. I was on the metal guardtower and had a bead on them, but I noticed that one of their guys was scoping out my tower. Their sniper drops into prone and and starts scoping me out. So here are two snipers staring at each other through our LRS's and I decide its not a good idea to start a firefight when we're just waiting for our other buddy. So I climb the ladder down and the other sniper lets me dip into the woods. No shots fired, no KoS, just two snipers who realize that either one of us could have killed the other and we just go our own way.

It would be an interesting idea, assuming you could not use your weapon while in this 'animation'. If people could check your pulse to verify if you're actually dead, then it would be amazing. Imagine: you play possum while your buddies have an ambush ready in the treeline around your 'body'. Epic.

Checked this with a compass yesterday and had my buddy confirm it. It rises in the S/SE and sets in the S/SW.
-
I got a running headshot on somebody in Elektro at about 700m quite a while back, when the LRS crosshairs were still slightly to the left...needless to say I was pretty shocked.
-
I let a group of 3 people live when I had their heads in my crosshairs. Also, no matter how empty the server be careful around hotspots because running into the 1 other person on the server usually ends badly.

By aiming through my LRS at the target's head and remembering the slogan, "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast."

Post a screenshot of your current character so we can remember them after the Gods of Dayz eventually take them from us.

So I was looting the NWAF, when I noticed another person looting the tent area through my LRS. At first I thought he was new to the game and didn't know that those spawns are turned off. After he left, I went to loot the leftovers and noticed that loot was spawning in the tents, the pallet-floor tents, and the medic tents too! Can anyone confirm that these loot spawns are re-enabled?
-
So, I'm not sure if this was a ninja edit but I found the tent loot spawns to be working again tonight! Thought you might want to know. Anyway, rarest I've gotten is the press vest and ballistic vest. Never seen the stab vest or riders jacket yet. I think a pristine fnx rds sight should be included on that list...man those are hard to find lol. Also, I found about 6 LRS's on one trip through the NWAF (two of which were in the same hangar)...thought I was being trolled by Dean since I already had one.

Dean Hall encourages server hopping at egx rezzed
sess130 replied to sobieski12's topic in General Discussion
This is a huge misunderstanding. He's saying that certain items or parts will be rare (like NVG's) and will have a limited amount of them on each server. This leaves you with two options: find the item in that server (even though it could be taken already), or contact a group that you already know has the parts and start trading or raiding. -
TMW (Trusted Medics of the Wasteland) have been around since the mod and have a great reputation for helpful service. They actually travel in teams and have the patients follow strict security measures to ensure their safety. Trust me, they have had this happen to them on multiple occasions and they will be prepared for your ambush.

Help with tactics, and avoiding miscommunication
sess130 replied to pskitz's topic in General Discussion
^This. Dean has announced that eventually you will be able to put armbands on to help distinguish friend from foe, so that will help. Until then, make sure your team knows what you are doing before you actually do it. Using a VOIP program like mumble, teamspeak, or even skype can help this be much smoother so that your enemy cannot hear you over proxichat. Edit: I especially agree with the military sniper slogan: Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. -
Yes. Any building that spawns attachments (clips are considered attachments too) have a chance to spawn the LRS. I have personally found one in the barracks, tents (when it was enabled), and the hangers. However, the LRS is currently one of the rarest spawns in the game, along with ballistic vests.

It depends on what your main weapon is, really. If you have a mosin or sks, the fnx is a great sidearm. They just need to make it more realistic (accuracy, damage, etc). .45 acp has amazing stopping power irl and they are going for realism, right?

Anyone worried there will be too many ammo types ?
sess130 replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I think its a good idea to have a variety, personally. Assuming they don't tone down the amount of ammo in the game, as this would make finding the right ammo nearly impossible. Once they add in all the weapons and ammo types, it will be much harder to find what type you need which will force social interaction to get what you need (i.e. high-risk trading). However, I think they have nearly exhaused their variety for pistol calibers though. I couldn't really see them adding in too many more types (except maybe .40 SW or 10mm). -
I agree. Usually bandits try to keep you alive so they can get undamaged loot, then set you free or execute you. I think raiders is a good term for them, leviski. The few people I have robbed with my buddies, we set free with something they need for their trouble (assuming they were cooperative). If somebody is extremely rude though...bandits can still kill or kneecap them lol.

Has the desync when playing with friends been fixed?
sess130 replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
I think so. I still have desync issues, but they happen whether I'm playing with my friends or solo. Mostly it happens after I loot a building and try running outside. I get rubberbanded back inside repeatedly, until I walk outside and sit still for a few seconds to let the server catch up. -
Subsonic and Supersonic Rounds [Torchia Tweet]
sess130 replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully, they just make suppressor work without subsonic ammo. I would like to see suppressors work similar to real life. They don't 'silence' the weapon, but distribute the gas and sound from the shot into a wider area to lower the range at which you could be detected. It would still make the sonic crack near your target (for weapons that have one) but would draw less zombie aggro and possibly confuse humans so they don't know exactly where the shot came from. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
sess130 replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I love the new speed and animations of the zombies. I'm actually a little scared when I get mobbed by more than 3 zombies at a time now! However, fixing the wall clipping, aggro range, and other such problems should come before making the zombies more difficult. I have noticed that zombies tend to run around objects more frequently than before, though. So that's a step in the right direction. Edit: Once the devs implement the 'quadrant' idea for loot respawning, they should use that same idea for zombies. For example, you clear out a town and loot it then leave the 'quadrant'. The loot and the zombies would respawn for the next person to come through. Maybe a little addition would be to respawn 1/2th of the zombies that were in the 'quadrant' outside the town and have them move towards it after a 10min delay or something to that effect. This would enable people to clear an area, but still have pressure to move on afterward so they don't get blindsided. -
I agree and disagree. Rarer ammo would help deter KoS in the short term, but not in the long term. This due to the fact that they will be adding a whole plethora of new weapons and ammo types. This in itself will make the ammo you're looking for harder to find. Also, people will always KoS. Dean has already implemented item degradation and that hasn't slowed it down a lot. Why? Some people just want to see the world burn. In all seriousness, KoS'ers aren't usually after your gear, they just want to kill. Bandits are a different story though.

I actually just jumped onto dayz and looted the hangers, hoping to find a RDS for my fnx...but i found a LRS instead. Yes, the loot with be semi-random but specific buildings will still have specific 'loot groups' (i.e. weapons in police stations). As long as you are looking in the right places, you'll eventually find one. As for the LRS: check hangers, ATC towers, barracks, and jail houses. These buildings spawn attachments often. Edit: Don't forget to check the tents, once the devs enable those spawn again...
