You are going to remain alive until you can find a means of leaping suicidefully from a building, being a zombie's lunch, or getting put-out-of-your-misery-ed by another player. If you ever go unconscious, though, you will have the option to respawn. So keep that in mind.

Be sure to use water purification tabs on any refilled drinks before taking a swig. This will minimize your chances of getting sick. Or y'know, you could just go to a cafe and grab some coffee instead.
