3 Things that i think is more Urgent!

Can you imagine if they added bases and means of storage and then needed to refresh the database meaning a complete character wipe? I can see all the whine posts now from people who took the many warnings with a pinch of salt when they 'bought into the development phase'. I'm not going to say the 'A' word but you bought an unfinished product, you were told it was an unfinished product and as such you are playing an unfinished product. When the majority of developers won't release a game until it is, in their eyes, a finished product, you should be thankful you have the opportunity to 'test' what they have so far, and your cash goes toward adding content and paying the people that add that content. People need to stop treating this like a full release, be patient with the development and let them get it right, rather than rush out features to appease those that did not heed the many warnings that warned you that it was an unfinished product. Christ, if it were 5 years ago you'd still be watching occasional dev videos and reading devblogs about what is in the game so far with absolutely NO opportunity to play it until it's full release, which equates to AT LEAST another year. Some people don't know when they got it good.

    WHERE IS EVERYBODY?!?!

With the added interiors a lot of people may be running through towns and right past people inside buildings without either party even being aware of each other. Set up in a town somewhere and wait, eventually you'll have players come to you rather than you looking for them.

    my hope for the rope

This isn't ogrish.com or Liveleak dude. I just had my 12 yr old son with me, looking through the forums, he likes watching me play DayZ and has a go too, so he sometimes sits with me while I look at these forums. This IS NOT what I want him to stumble across on a site for a computer game. You even acknowledge the fact that it may not be acceptable yet you do nothing about it, no decency whatsoever. I despair for the intelligence of some members of the human race and I request you take it down immediately. I also hope they ban you anyway. What an idiot.

    I won DayZ PvE....Now what?

Dayum. I guess now that's gonna put me out of business. Thanks..
  6. And if they did you'd be back complaining how your framerate has nosedived. It would mean rendering grass for up to a km radius from you, sapping your performance and probably making the game unplayable, even before you bring up the scope. Maybe in 5 - 10 years, and that's optimistic.

    Bicycle Suggestions/Discussion [Official]

You shouldn't have bought the game in Alpha state then. Everyone knew there were no vehicles at release, yet I keep seeing these posts by people who obviously can't read and who obviously don't understand that once they paid their money, they gave up the right to complain about what ISN'T implemented yet because there were warnings everywhere. That is what's ridiculous. Your fault, pipe down. Be patient / play mod.

    Personalization of the character

They've spoken about journals being included that keep a record of various achievments and kill count. I'd prefer to see the player have an option to 'show journal' to other players to show they are good people or vice versa, be asked to show their journal, and if you restrain a player you can 'read journal' to see if they are a murderer or not. Most people may think twice about killing or torturing them if they have helped others, and if they are a 'bandit' they may inflict a longer, torturous death on them. Either way the interraction will be directly influenced by the choices the player in question has made in the past. Have it as an inventory item up top with helmets, glasses etc that you can't drop on the ground. It also means that if you find a player body you can check their identity as well as a history of their short (or even long) life.
  9. 2 days ago met a guy in a hospital when I was trying to get loot, just spawned I was in 'not a single f**k was given' mode and ran round the corner at the bottom of the stairwell where it's a dead end with the benches piled up. There was a guy crouching there with a magnum in his hand and I said 'Hi, I'm friendly'. No repsonse, no movement, nothing. I guessed he was AFK and was thinking what I could do for a laugh but as I had no real gear I decided to leave him, worked my way upstairs and as I went out onto the roof he came up behind me. I turned round and said 'Hi' again and he raised the magnum at me and fired off 3 shots. All missed. It was like that moment in Pulp Fiction where the guy comes out the bathroom and fires at Samuel L Jackson. He then said over direct, 'I'm out of bullets, your lucky day'. At that I rushed at him as he was standing by the edge and bumped him clean off the roof to his death. I know he heard me when I shouted 'Not yours though is it?!' His body vanished by the time I got down the ladder.

Playing this game as an FPS is the worst.

How would first person cause more lag / stutters than 3rd? If anything there is less strain on your system as the game doesn't have to render your character along with all it's textures at full detail in 1st. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

In regards to items spawning on top of cupboards and such, it would help first person players if the Vicinity loot window worked better. As it is, I sometimes have to crouch for things to appear that are right in front of me on the floor and with stuff on top of cupboards, sometimes they won't appear at all in the Vicinity window, and if I'm in 3rd Person I have to switch to first person to point the crosshair at it to pick it up, and even this won't always work. Maybe increasing the radius of the vicinity mechanic in the vertical plane may help or maybe scrap the loot spots at high level altogether. It's a small headache but a headache nonetheless. As for which style is better, 1st or 3rd, I prefer 1st, but that's because I use Freetrack and is also my personal opinion. I think both styles should be supported on their own hives as someone playing in 1st can be completely outplayed by someone using 3rd. Don't see why people would argue about the two though, seems pretty immature to do so.

Playing this game as an FPS is the worst.

Personally I like first person, always believed that DayZ should be played that way and don't like how third person gives an advantage like peering over walls etc. But, saying that I have an advantage in that I use Freetrack in game. It's a poor man's (lol) alternative to Track IR and allows me independent control over the view using my head to look around instead of using ALT. This means that I can be running around and looking around while still being able to change direction with the mouse which wouldn't be possible without Freetrack / Track IR. It also allows me to lean in game by leaning in real life, again without any keypresses so on top of the added freedom of movement I have the ALT, Q, and E keys free to bind to other things, although I haven't yet, waiting for added features to be implemented that may need some quick access keybinds. Doorframes are a pain, always have been in the Arma games unless you had the movement mods of ShackTac but with my setup they are minor annoyances if at all. I'd recommend anyone give Freetrack a try as it's not overly expensive to set yourself up. In my example I bought a second hand Microsoft VX3000 webcam from eBay for £8, a Trackclip Pro (made for Track IR but works for Freetrack) for £20 (which was in a sale, but don't expect to pay over £30 tops), and the software is free. The only downside is it takes a bit to set up and tweak the software and you may (not always) need to remove the IR filter from the webcam. So, £28-£35 for a system that will increase your situational awareness in game without giving you hand cramps. A Track IR setup would cost you at least £150 and although is more sensitive and may perform better, I am more than happy with my Freetrack and could never justify paying £150+ for a negligible increase in quality. There are many games that support Track IR and most of them will also support Freetrack. I use it in Falcon BMS, DCS World (and A10C), both flight sims that utilize 6 axis (X,Y,Z, Yaw, Pitch, Roll), and Arma 2 which works exactly the same as DayZ (I use the same profile). So there's just one way you can overcome the clunky movement in DayZ / Arma2, plus it gives more immersion, realism, and some may argue an advantage over other players. Search YouTube for Freetrack and see some demonstrations of how it looks. One thing is for sure, I could not go back to playing without it, and sometimes when I'm playing other games I find myself moving my head expecting the view to change, lol.

  14. Hi all, I was thinking about how easy it can be to get fully kitted in a short amount of time and how this can have a negative effect on gameplay and occurances of KoS. Obviously, everyone knows where the military camps are aside from the airfields and if they don't, a quick Google search will clear that up with a map. Now, as things stand, people tend to go to these camps / airfields with no risk aside from other players either camping the area or server hopping and putting a bullet in your cranium when they spawn behind you. To explain my suggestion for making these things difficult / impossible I first need to set the scene that is the basis for a system that will make high value loot areas a dangerous place to be for both loot seekers and loot seeker murderers. So, a back story: When the zombie infection first reached Chernarus's shores, the military were completely unprepared for the speed of it's spread and in the final weeks before the area became a wasteland they resorted to chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in a last ditch effort to quash the infection. Unfortunately, these weapons were never used due to the speed of the infection so we'll never know if they could have ended the crisis. The nuclear weapons were held at the (then) secure airbases and the chemical weapons were sent across Chernarus to various staging posts (military camps/bases) with some also held at the airbases. After the area was abandoned or the military contingent wiped out at these areas the nuclear and chemical weapons containers began to decay, leaking radiation and biological agents into the surrounding atmosphere and contaminating the air. This meant that now, in the current day when survivors are desperately trying to survive, these areas carry a high health risk to those that venture near them and certain precautions must be taken before any attempt to do so. Even so, the concentration of the airborne agents is such that even with full anti radiation / biological gear / meds there would still be negative health implications involved. The zombies however, as it turns out are unaffected by these airborne agents so it seems this last ditch effort would have been inneffective. So that's the basis of the changes I suggest, now onto the mechanics. First of all, any time spent in any of these areas will carry major health risks for everyone. As most know, gasmasks are already in so it's obvious that they have a planned purpose in the future, so this plays straight into that. Also, new clothing that can lessen the effects in these areas (Hazmat suits) would be lootable in the towns around these areas, left behind by military personnel who lived there and in hospitals / tec buildings. These alone will not be enough though, there would also be anti-radiation meds and anti bio pills / syringes to break down any agents absorbed into the bloodstream. Any attempt to venture into these areas would need to be well planned, preferably by a group (encouraging players to team up), and with enough equipment / meds to counter any lasting health issues. It would be possible for an individual to venture into an area but even with the best counteractive equipment they would have very limited time in the area before the effects would take their toll and the damage done would either kill them or cause lasting health effects that would need continuous addressing with meds for the rest of the player's life cycle (this is an idea which may not be agreed with, but is realistic, discuss..). Also, server hopping would be addressed as anyone who logs out in these areas and then joins another server has a random chance of spawning unconcious, and while they may wake up in time, the contaminants are ravaging their body the whole time forcing them to immediately leave the area upon waking up. Some may respawn and be ok but it's the possibility of not that will deter most. Those that log out and rejoin the same server would not be subject to the random chance and will be able to carry on from the point of log off, to make it fair on those that disconn legitimately or who have to AFK for RL issues. So, this is a preventative measure for what is a lot of DayZ players' pet hates as well as a gameplay mechanic that encourages group play. So let's take a look at what would be involved at raiding let's say the military camp SW of Stary Sobor; First of all, I'd like to state that I'm a fan of having more traditional weapons and equipment with military grade gear being something that needs planning and co-operation to obtain. The nearest thing to a sniper rifle you can find by just roaming the countryside is a CZ550 or the Mosin and similar. DMR's, AS50's, assault rifles and the like should only be obtainable through co-operation with other's, luck, or by killing a kitted player (which would hopefully lessen the killing of newer spawns or midrange kitted players). I'm also a fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and many of the items in that game, geiger counter, anti-rads, pills etc have inspired this suggestion. Groups: Let's say 4 members in the group. Each member would need a Hazmat suit, these suits would negate a fixed percentage of the effects for each level of damage, pristine=max effect, ruined=little to no effect. They would also need to take blocking pills, that also would have their effects degraded according to their condition and would add to the percentage of protection offered by the suit. There would be no possibility of completely negating the health effects in these areas and as such, time spent in these areas is limited, forcing each member of the group to plan out what building they would search, so the guy with all the pristine gear would search the main building with the jail cell while the other guys would hit a barracks each. There'd be know hanging around, get in, grab what you can, get out. This also means that one player, or even a small group couldn't clean out a military camp in one go, and airbases would need majorly co-ordinated, multi-run missions to hit every loot spot. Given that restarts are currently every four hours, everyone on the server has the chance to get something from these areas if planned effectively. After leaving the area, meds would need to be taken if anyone has been over-exposed to the radiation / chemical agents. All this means is just having the preventative items is not enough, you need the aftercare too, as over exposure and being unable to find the relevant meds to combat that could mean death hours, or even days after the raid. Individuals: Same requirements as groups in terms of clothing / meds but at most you'll be able to hit one, maybe two barracks, that's it. Find some players to group with in other words. So yeh, that's it basically, I don't know if all my suggestions are doable, but if they are they address multiple issues; Server hopping. Stripped military sites, no good loot. Camping. Encouraging team play, grouping up. EVERYONE having military loot (and then using it to kill fresh spawns) <Reduced, not eradicated of course> Added level of gameplay and a goal beyond kitting up easily and looking for things to do / shoot. Other things I may have not thought of, discuss. Thanks for reading, I look forward to people's input (and possible beans).

    funny moment while cooking

Just shows ya, women are always listening...
  16. Keep reading... You'll see that it was a plan that never came to fruition. But the nuclear aspect is not a requirement, chemical / biological achieves the effect just as well on it's own. Note to everyone else, read the whole post before commenting.
  17. Seeing as cans of food can get damaged, I'd imagine the plan would be for them to carry a chance for infection or food poisoning at some point. As it is, I've already limited myself to only picking up food in pristine condition, to get myself in the habit.

Dont you guys think (payday masks)

You're not one for people's opinions then? One thing about opinions, you may not agree with them, but you have to respect people's rights to have them. Your comment adds nothing to this thread, and you should have moved on. And before you claim that was your opinion, anyone can see it's borderline troll. Kthnxbai. In regards to masks and bike helmets, the loot spawns haven't been properly balanced and you can be sure more items will be added, increasing the number of items that can spawn in a particular spot, therefore making items less common. Everyone has had plenty of warnings about this being work in progress yet all I see is posters talking as if this is the final product, lol.

    Hackers all over place

It's going to happen, hopefully as this is Alpha, the hackers are using all their tools too early and it just provides the dev's with the info on the methods they need to block it from the final release, so more fool them. Skills in coding doesn't necessarily equate to intelligence it seems.

    The horribel Roll menu

He's talking about the context menu you can use with your mousewheel. I'll admit it's far from perfect but as I remember, it's one of Rocket's pet hates too, so I have to say that word again... Alpha....

Why do we already have so many 24/7 daylight servers?

There's nothing I like more than playing til the sun goes down or heading out into the world at dawn, the idea of playing on a server where this isn't a feature holds no interest for me, it's not even a case of not being able to find a daylight server when it's dark in your locale, I've managed it numerous times and had no ill effects, and have pretty much no issues with a ping around 120-150 when my local servers are all 25-50. But then I'm not going out to kill people 99% of the time and I'd bet that people who want 24/7 daylight are the more PVP oriented players. Although I'll probably get mildly flamed for that comment. Meh.
  23. MrNomadic76

    server hoping wipe?

Talking of 'testing' I think they should have a shooting range option on the front end where you can test fire all weapons in the game with all attachments available for practice. Not mulyiplayer or anything, just like a mini Armoury as in Arma2, seeing as this is a standalone and the weapons are brand new.

Yeh, I know, they are for my FNX doodah pistol, I was having trouble finding actual mags to put the ammo in, rendering my pistol a novelty paperweight. Thanks for the info, have some beans.

    Xbox 360 Controller Support?

Why would you even want to use a controller? I don't get the attraction over mouse and keyboard which despite any arguments you may have, IS superior.
