yes my res got screwed up after using the newui earlier , didnt notice it until i reviewed that days screenshots and videos

So I get the kid up and off to school and decide to jump on for a few. Normal early morning routine , Do a little trapping and fishing, feed my character and then off to bed for a few hours. ( I get off work at 5am ) So I get on sure enough my guy is hungry . So I head off to the hunting grounds, Set up my traps in my normal spot and head to my fishing hole. On the way I spot a herd of cattle moving down a commonly used game trail . Sure enough they are heading toward the same small pond I fish at. I stop for a minute , switch my gear out a bit , put on my ghillie hood and gun wrap. And start stalking them on foot. Too many trees in the way to get any good shots in, I know where they are going after the pond. So I go head them off . About five minutes later I'm set up on a hill side, I dropped my backpack in the bushes and put on my full ghillie suit now . Watching the herd move across the valley toward my location , it will take a few more minutes , but I can wait . Switch my blaze over to double fire. Maybe today I'll get lucky and be able to pull off that double head shot i been hoping to do . So I'm sitting there waiting , watching for them to get into just the right position to attempt a double kill shot . It looks like it might just line up.... they are so close now. When out of nowhere , the two i had in my crosshairs drop dead.???!!!?!? I zoom out a bit . Look around, It's another guy in my territory ! He's running through the field right at the cattle , full auto bursts mowing them down . Annoyed I sit back and watch . I zoom in to start inspecting the situation . AKM, suppressed ,. drum mag for sure too many shots fired .. Son of ... oh well fair is fair.... I'm about to pack it up and move on , when it dawns on me , This guy.. is in full military gear. Helmet , akm , improvised backpack,plate vest. Sure enough i watch as he finishes gutting the last of the four cows, he reloads, ANOTHER 75 round drum mag. I thinks to myself..I bet money he cant pack all that meat, AND those drums, .. This guy isnt a hunter.. Hes a fcking pocher ! ON MY LAND ! I drop back down , steady my shot , aim just at the neck , 180-200m easy enough for the double shot spread not to ruin his gear. Squeeze the trigger. Clean shot , if the engine allowed it , his head would have popped like a water balloon . I reload and wait a few minutes to see if anyone comes to his aid or for his gear.. Scope out the valley , no one around. I head down to collect my breakfast and inspect this guy's gear. Sure enough , AKM fully decked out, ,Plate Vest,3x75 round drum mags.a few grenades . a suppressed 45 acp , adrenaline, bandages all pristine , all empty slots filled with rags .. This guy was out to do some damage..And worst of all , had almost no room for half this meat , let alone all of it !!!! I take a few moments to dismantle all his gear and throw it around the field. gut his body and save the meat for later. I have tabs so no big deal if i get sick. Collect my pack and head off back to my traps and to cook my breakfast. Content with the idea of one less murderer in my area to compete with.. And enough meets to last me a few days. Moral of the story, If he wasn't a pocher and killed more than he needed , He would have lived ..

Doors can be weird due to player desync or something .. example. My friend opens a door and enters a house. I'm right behind him , see him run through closed door, and have to re open it myself to enter .

Their is a legit way to move dead silently on any surface. I use it a LOT , learned it when i stopped using firearms for a while and only use stun baton on full pop servers. Its not something I share outside of my PvE hunting groups now though .

When you go fishing , you have some weird off chance to catch a boot. I thought it would be nice if something similar was applied to Rabbit snares, Like the off chance to catch a fox ?

I went full non lethal for a while,.. stun baton and cattle prod are about 50/50 on rather or not they will knock out on the first hit.

Possibly, I can understand where he is coming from , I don't much care for KoS with no rhyme or reason either and tried for the longest time to be pure non lethal .Where in I would only knock out or tie up people, But honestly Standalone simply just does not cater to that type of game play well enough to make it viable. At Least in the mod you could fairly reliably break legs with the dmr . And in breaking point we had tranq rounds... DayZ really needs to catch up with that aspect of gameplay soon. Pure pvp for the sake of pvp got old a long time ago .

Ok so yea I killed the guy, but for ( in my opinion at the time ) a justifiable reason , I'll break it down for you since you seem to miss most of what I carefully worded out in observations. 1. The guy was in my territory : We all stake claim to certain areas of the map , we frequent most often . At least the group I run with does,.... Rather it be the little corner of the woods near camp, Or that town your looting in at that moment. Rather you let them live or not depends on the threat level you perceive they present . 2. I'm a Role Player, So yea.. if i see someone wasting precious resources , I react. 3. After scoping the guy out , it was not hard to determine his threat level. At the moment he may have simply been collecting meet. But looking at his gear, and his shoot em up mentality, It was easy to assume he was a PvP centric player. The type of player I try to avoid at all cost, and the type I remove from my enviroment for my own safety as well as the safety of others. 4. My current turf ranges a fairly large area at the moment ,As I move from hunting ground to hunting ground I patrol the towns and watch for anyone that just doesn't seem right . I let far more people live than I take down , and trust me , I see a LOT of people who never see me. Its how I manage to follow people to their camps, Kill dupers and hackers, and try to slow down the CoD kids as much as possible. You want to talk KOS ? I once spent an entire weekend in 58 camping the Myshkino tent officer barracks ,. Just to kill server jumpers and loot cyclers .Killed nearly a hundred people that weekend. THATS KOSing The rules I currently play by are simple. But offer up enough of a challenge to keep me entertained. And honestly more of a challenge than most people can handle right now. For example. -When i travel , I walk , I dont sprint -I rarely if ever eat spawned lootable foods, I consider them dog and cat food, To be used as a last ditch resort. I've ate worms befor i would open a can of tactical bacon. -I use as little military spawn loot as possible. (currently my only acceptable items are boots, Smersh vest, and backpack (until i find a hunter's pack) Most of the time I go without a backpack at all due to the ghillie suits I like to use. And I refuse to use any of the other civilian backpacks. Only the improvised, -Only play on cold winter servers -try to never use the gamma exploit -only take on players when the reason would be justifiable in a real life survival situation ( Risk vs reward) - Travel as light as possible, I rarely lug around more then i absolutely need . ( this becomes even more important once you have a ghillie on . I also try to calculate realistic space and weight into account when gearing items. one or two mags at most, one box of ammo, so on so forth . just to name a few...

Watch it again , The female was infront of the male. When I pulled the trigger I had the crosshairs at his shoulders, , but it hit the female in the neck According the the DayZtv map , The shot was roughly 80-90 m , If zeroed to 100m , The shot should have went over where my crosshairs were aiming Not below it . This is how zeroing works to account for bullet drop. My only thought is that because i used the select fire to double fire the rifle, It either affected the sights , ( which it shouldnt, as I've tested this many many times ) OR the two bullets spread apart , But the female was struck first which somehow cancel out the second bullets ability to hit a different target

...Sigh.... Poaching Poaching has traditionally been defined as the illegal hunting, killing, or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights. ie: He was on MY land , Killing MY cattle .. Without MY permission.... In what I decided in that moment was a disrespectful manner. Using a Assault rifle to mow down wild game , taking no pride in the hunt,, waisiting meat.. lol... make sense now ? *Facepalm*

Yes a barrel is pretty much the center of camping life. Its needed for tanning hides making quality fertilizer , dyeing clothes and now , can be used as a stove soon it will also become a rain catch from what I understand

I know some of you guys are a lot better at this than I am , So I'm asking for help making maps marking all the Game trails / Foot paths in the game ( trails through the woods , not dirt roads or paved) Actual freshwater locations with something like a blue highlight overlay. All the streams,ponds and puddles Animal spawn locations marked by type . I have been working on these on my own using photoshop and DayZTV squad maps. But its probably not the best method

You might be interested to know a lot of us survivalist tend to steak out certain territories we tend to call our own, Maybe its the surrounding area around our camps, or a particular favorite hunting ground. Either way , a lot of us tend to do it , and protect it fiercely. Its always wise to carry a walkie around with you and try to contact any locals whose land you might be trespassing on. Because we will always see you , way before you see us.

I have a feeling we will see this argument again in the future of this game . When it comes to culling the wild dog and wolf populations. And to those few that had something to say about the the theme of this post... come on guys.. don't break the fourth wall on a story that is obviously role play in nature......

Pigs are in , I've shot a few in my travels. I have so far shot Elk, Cattle, Deer,Hogs, Chickens , and caught all the fish. Have yet to see a living rabbit , or fox, or any of the others that might be ingame. Chicken Huntin Tonight was actually the first time I bothered testing out the improvised fish trap made from a PET water bottle . After catching six of them , I recalled a video from awhile back using a knife to gut them , which would turn the little pile of sardines into one fish fillet . I tried this , but did not get the option . Just Eat and Eat all , So I ate some . ( no frying pan to cook fish on ) Got an upset stomach a few minutes later . Did not get a change to try cooking them on a stick before the server suddenly restarted and i lost my traps . Anyone know for sure the proper way to process and cook sardines ?

Read my other forum post on this subject, WIP of a proper hunting map Key to living off the land is not to rely on one single means of obtaining food. Always collect wire as a backup for trapping, Netting for fishing I have a video on how to properly do this well. Here, some seeds to farm , And if worse come to worse, apple trees and berries are everywhere. You should , DayZ is all about your interpretation of what it should be . What other game combines , GTA, Skyrim,CoD, And Big game hunter all into one ? I've been using the same pack of .308 for over a week now, Just switched from a Winchester to a blaze a few days ago . .. Mostly chosen for its better hunting use , op nature , and extreme rarity of the .308 ammo type, further emphasising the "rare ammo" struggle. Of course I am always on the hunt for a new VSS . because of it ideal PvE nature .

Small suggestion, Just during the testing period of the game, Or maybe just on experimental servers basically just to help with bug hunting and testing

Just watched an Anime . And it got me to thinking What would DayZ be like if ( as if possible ) What if the entirety of the player community could fit on one server , granted it would be a much larger map , How would your playstyle change if their were thousands of players on the map , only one server , And death = perma ban?

Or it just resets and starts over lol

most of the iron sights in the game are pretty much crap. Majority of them at the least block your target making good shots damn near impossible . Same goes for most of the scopes as well for that matter.

I just tried to use the bow last night. Been a week or so since i used it last i think . When did they break the reload option ? In exp last patch ,and before i found my VSS on stable . I know i was able to hold the bow , slot the arrow stack in the hot bar and reload after each shot by selecting the Hotbar key the arrows was in . Now it seems the only way to reload after each shot is to open inventory , drag and drop one arrow at a time . Tested with all the different arrow types to confirm . This little surprise nearly got me killed by a town full of zeds when i had to take off running .......
