Personally i see no "point" it would defeat. One simply has to remember , that the ONLY reason dayZ is using the location it currently is . IS simply due to the fact Arma 2 happen to decide to use a Russian map Which happen to be the only map available at the time DayZ was first developed . That trend and those original assets have just been carried over from map to map since. Likely due to no one wanting to bother loading each texture file one at a time and changing them into English versions. Which is why you see very few player made maps fully detailed in English or based in lets say an american small town. even though it has been requested a million times. And Everything else in the game that is newly added has been in English , That or the people of this particular region really like doing all their shopping on Amazon buying their cans of beans from English manufacturers . I've clocked in enough hours into this game to personally know my way around with out ever needing to read any signs or look at an external map.(Which fyi should never be a requirement for any game) How ever, new players (which we want) dont seem to enjoy those moments of [Where are you bud ? . I'm in ...umm...3E ..um looks like cursive R?....ehoropck? ) It fails at immersion and simply translates into annoying and unnecessary. I myself and I'm sure many others could really care less where the island is suppose to be located on the globe. But I do think more people would prefer to be able to read and utilize those navigational markers , with out being required to learn a second language or depending on external web sites and 3rd party maps. plus ... it just really annoys me that the vast majority of items in game have English descriptions , yet street signs are in Elfish Runes ... Read that box of cereal , or that news paper on the floor some time.

Exactly . simple changes to the movement and adding stamina and weight `opens the game world and makes things much larger and further away. Ideally it should take several hours to travel from one side of the map to the other on foot, which would of course result in many more chances for action situations to happen . I would personally also suggestion a reduction in vehicle speeds as well , the current V3S tops out at around 80kmph this is too fast in my opinion , for one , high speeds add more work for the server and client, desync and such , as well as reducing the overall scale of the map. Messing around with cars in Arma 3 I've found maxing them out at a top speed of 50 to 60 mph with an avg of around 30-40mph is ideal (avg speeds was around 100mph+). Same should be true in DayZ Also , form what I have tested and discovered with in my own modding. A forced reduction to player travel speed opens a lot more doors than it closes. As an example on my A2 and now A3 mod I replaced the current standard of running zombies with walkers. That change by itself was un balanced , Walkers where too easy to avoid, But by reducing player movement speeds, and limiting avail ammo supplies , Those slower higher number zeds which use up far less system requirements and put a end to nearly all collision and clipping issues , actually become a much higher threat level than the current norm. I now avg 50+ walkers per horde , per spawn mark. So a small town can now easily handle 25-50 walking zombies with out effecting performance beyond the players GPU .Which then in turn allowed me to adjust other settings such as trigger radius and duration to give the illusion of persistent zombies .

Pet dogs. With basic functions such as Follow/Stay And proximity alarms for player /zed notifications when with in X radius ? Later options such as (Tracking) the ability to sniff out and find wild life , (Hunting mode) where dog would run off and return with rabbit in its mouth after certain amount of time.as a alternative to rabbit snares. (Pursue) Where in say your at camp and dog detects player in radius , Set dog to track , and he would start moving toward detected player so you could find them . ( Retrieval ) command, where after you kill target animal or player , dog could go and drag it back to you . (Guard) set to stay at camp or while looting town set dog to auto attack all players/zed who enter X radius of area. Commands could be accessed or gained based on how long your dog has been kept alive to prevent over use or exploiting . ie: newly tamed dog has basic functions, after a week or two of being alive it has all commands unlocked . Ride horses . With saddle bags for storage . Saddles and bags could be crafted from leather , and Horses require upkeep for health,hydration and so on. Wildlife collision . ie If hit by a running cow , you take dmg similar to being run over by a car. Aggressive wild life, Such as wild dogs, pigs , charging bulls, Charging pigs and bulls would be very simple, and just require collision damage with no complicated animations for biting like dogs would. Ai would simply be changed from Passive-Avoid as they are now , to aggressive-attack much like zombies are set to do. Adding much needed chance for random risk and hazards to wilderness areas. Server host/owner loot table control. Ie the ability for the owner of a server to set which items will / will not spawn into their server. not to add more , but to remove. Such as, if a PvE server wanted to remove all military weapons and Canned foods from spawning into server. Or a PvP server wanted to remove all Sniper rifles. Edit: I dont know why everything is highlighted in this post. I cant seem to undo it.

I'm sorry to say , but in 700 hours , you have completely failed to learn how to play this game. If you struggle with any of the mechanics beyond basic run and loot survival. Then you really should stop and re take a few hours to learn the basics. It will create an entirely new game for you . With 0.58 the Devs made it abundantly clear they are aiming at going far beyond a simple run and gun shooter. (Their are far better games for this on the market anyways ) You now have a multitude of factors to keep track of while attempting to survive long enough to get that pvp action your after. You are now forced to loot for more than just guns and ammo Ways of feeding your self . Loot-able none perishable foods, Abundance of static apple trees. Gardening Hunting fishing trapping Hydration Wells Sodas ponds Warmth Fire Heatpacks clothing torches crafted heat packs Crafted weapons allow you to be instantly geared before you leave the beach. Everything beyond that is just an upgrade to look forward to . After a mear few hours of survival training learning the base mechanics , your group should never have these problems, they all simple become side tasks , to do when required. Of course this is all moot if your one of those old players that wanted the game to be so ridiculously easy that you spawned in on the beach with full gear and weapons... Just so you could run into cherno and KOS .. Which eventually was tested and proved to fail to keep players interested for more then a few weeks

The core requirements for this is already in place with tents. Now its simply a matter of creating the scripts to craft tent X , with x+y=item. And the creation of a new model for the improvised shelter. I'm fairly sure these bright blue tents are not going to be the best we see.

There are a few very nice small areas on the current map that look like they are going in this direction. Its a matter of interpretation as to the age of DayZ. Some would see SA being placed after the DayZ mod which contained all new shiny items . Mod was in what 2012? so its been a few years now in real time. Since the fall of civilization. Mod was all new still working stuff.. SA could easily go a few extra years past that point . Which would allow for over growth of vegetation, aging of buildings and vehicles . With out going too far and everything being in ruins . Which would start messing with current modern weaponry and items . ( 3 years , sure still find nice items.. 20+ year.. no way. We would all be using sticks and bows ) My best argument for this style of map . Is the simple question of who exactly is still going around mowing the grass in the Apocalypse ?

I think many could agree they would rather see dogs being developed before dance animations... Personally I think some rush order needs to be put on sunglasses. So they properly tent the glare. This actually causes physical eye pain at certain times of the weather cycle .

Simply expressing just how badly we want these features added in . As fun as 0.58 has been to learn... things progress to quickly and we have ran out of things to do . Game is growing dull. Once learned Food acquisition is a simple side task to be preformed on a as needed bases . No point in storing or stocking up food supplies . Wild life behavior seems purely random.Which makes you unable to actually go hunting. Just dependent on pure chance to cross paths with a deer or something. Cooking is rather high on the risk/reward balance, As food status doesn't show properly , causing unknown chance for sickness, And any desync on server can result in death by burning minutes after you have finished cooking and walked away from fire.Causing many players to avoid the task entirely . Lack of security on camps results in massive progress loss if random troll stumbles into your hidden camp site and decides to steal everything. Lack of environmental hazards such as no zombies or aggressive animals , leave you sitting around with nothing to do once geared , except go hunting for random players to shoot , Which without self defense motivation , grew dull long ago. Currently I entertain myself on public servers by utilizing the none lethal hostage taking features and taking captives into the woods for a little Deliverance re enactment. Leaving them alive , but too ashamed to speak of the experience. Its the last resort in an attempt to utilizes as many new features as possible while providing myself with enough challenge to keep pvp interesting .

True.. I didnt really considered possible exploitation in that regards. I was thinking of global server settings when initial set up was built. And set for private hive servers only , so not to effect global loot tables . Our p.Server is a PvE server. So we voluntarily opt out of using a majority of the available items in the loot table. The ability to just turn off things like military gear, heli crashes, certain lootable items, Would just add better customization server to server.

After a few "questionable deaths" One of which occurred miles from the nearest town. While I was checking out the old debug type areas.After a couple hours I stopped for lunch near some rocks . After a few minutes I was showered by full auto M4 rounds splattering all around me with no delay for reload. This shower lasted a good 45 seconds before they stopped for about 10 seconds , at which point I was teleported into an open field and shot pointblank. For me it was final confirmation. Hackers have arrived in Standalone. So , it looked like I was once again going to face the same old challenges from the mod. Hacker Hunting Season. But this time with out proper weaponry . I log out and chat with buds to figure out a strategy. In order to properly Know thy Enemy . We hit google. Sure enough a depressingly high amount of results from the top sites for these things. I wont go into great detail. But for it being sooo soon after basic launch . I am a bit surprised at just how much is available. So for those of you that like myself enjoy a bit of counter hacker hunting. Turn on your recording software. And take note of this list of what to watch out for . ESP, Give Gear Teleporting Unlimited ammo No recoil / reload AimBot. I've already noticed a lot of the streamers and youtubers are using these in an attempt to keep there videos action packed. To the Devs. I REALLY hope you guys are tracking this and are planing a mass ban soon . VAC ban would be nice. So they lose there entire steam account. The the legit bandit players. Take a break from wasting your bullets on the poorly geared survivors . And start hunting for guys that are fully decked out. Most hackers are highly predictable in there actions and become easy to hunt down and lay traps for. To the typical none pvp focused survivor .. good luck. You really stand no chance in hell .

I wont link videos here due to forum rules. But a quick google search will show you just what all is released. There is no point trying to troll or flame this topic. I was simply making people aware, that the hackers are here in full swing , Just like in the mod. I am fully aware of the difference between lag , desync , bugs and hackers. Those of us that played a lot of Arma 2 are fully aware of whats to look for. And when a M4 fires like a LMG mainly hitting the rock I'm hiding behind. Due to its aimbot trying to auto target my head.. At a higher rate then typically allowed even in full auto. Its not a couple of guys. Its a combination of No recoil,inf ammo,no reload. I know the scripts, and know how they translate into the game.

Lets not get overly generous . You drop this map into A3 into a mod such as BreakingPoint. Get creative with the crafting system, health and hunger codes, Toss in a few new models, And with in a month you have the same thing on a much nicer scale.

I've been back in this hell hole for about a week now. Narrowly avoiding deaths release many times. At first simply staying alive and fighting though constant infections seemed to be a never ending challenge. But all seems to be going well. I've managed to find peace far away from the cities filled with both the living and the dead. I've acquired all the supplies I need to maintain on my own . The challenge I face now. Is the inevitable on set of boredom which I have seen lead so many to there deaths. I must find something to do for entertainment...

Sounds like they ported way too much from the mod , including the bugs The Novy Sobor spawn point will sometimes glitch you inside of a house , causing massive damage and broken bones. Sadly the more I play the more disappointed in how lazy Rocket chose to be with this development

I wont share yet. But there are ways to make some rather nasty poisons . Some of which can take a good few minutes to register and take affect .

no DayZ SA is a stand along game title. The mod is made off Arma 2 . Totally unrelated That said. DayZ SA is VAC secured. Which means your entire steam account could get banned. In which you will lose all your games

Been trying to test out all items and compile a list of what they are used for . Some items I can not confirm are Shoes - Do they actually give any movement/ stamina benefits Combat helmet - Does it give any actual armor rating or protection ? Gas Mask - Does it really do anything ? Face Masks- Same question as combat helm Hand tools- pliers , screw driver, hammer . have yet to be able to repair anything Rain Jacket and other type clothing - Aside from storage space to they add weather protection ? Bayonets- Can they be used in melee if so how ? I have figured out the extensive cooking and medical system , and will be making a video on that soon .

Thanks for the useful responses . I can now dump some of these items I'm hauling around trying to figure out if they might be useful on my next loot run. Guess I'll have to put that stupid helmet back on .. The cooking system is amazing. I went all night after a proper meal with out eating or drinking . Really need a tent to store all these items

No shit its alpha stage you idiot . If you took a minute to stop trolling the forum. You might consider reading the damn posts first. You see that little part at the top that says "trying to test all the items " Get off the damn coast for a little while trolling new spawns and try testing the actual game. Figure out what all the items are and are used for . Compile a list for the community
