  1. Here's a list of the size of same major cities across the world . . . Moscow, Russia = 969 sq miles (2,510 km²) Cape Town, Africa = 948 sq miles (2,455 km²) Tokyo, Japan = 844 sq miles (2,187 km²) London, England = 609 sq miles (1,577 km²) Bangkok, Thailand = 606 sq miles (1,569 km²) Los Angles, United States = 498 sq miles (1,291 km²) New York City, United States = 468 sq miles (1,213 km²) Berlin, Germany = 344 sq miles (892 km²) Chernarus = 86.8729 sq miles (225 km²) And I believe, please correct me if I am wrong, but ARMA 2 can support maps the size of....193.051 sq miles (500 km²) Now when I say a city/suburb only map, I don't mean tomorrow, next week, next month, but possibly in the next year or beyond. I know it world be something I would personally love and probably most other people as well.

    No competent player should die

I love "dumb" players....... I was on a freshly spawned survivor this morning in Elektro (my own stupidity of not paying attention lead to the death of my 9 day old Survivor, climbing down from the tower at Devil's Castle; let's say the first three steps were fine and then I went SPLAT!). Anyways with just my trusty Crowbar as I walked out of the Grocery Store, I noticed two more Survivors standing on the roof of the building next to me. I climbed to the second flood, then climbed the ladder about half way up to the third floor to see where they were facing. Climbed back down, threw an empty whiskey bottle for LULZ and noticed they actually walked towards where the sound of it shattering took place. Quickly climbed the ladder, a few swing of a crowbar ladder, and I was just as geared as my old survivor again! >.<

Shooting everything you see isn't realistic...

I'm not a PK'er as my main objective when playing DayZ. Survival and Scavenging are what I like to do most, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with Bandits at all. Senseless killing, PK'ing just to PK is slightly annoying (like people who don't kill for gear, just for the lulz), but hey who am I or anyone else to dictate how someone enjoys their time on a video game, because after all ARMA 2 and DayZ are just that, a VIDEO FREAKIN GAME!!!!! I also LOVE how so many people like to argue that Shoot First, Ask Questions later isn't realistic. I'm sorry if a Z-Day were to ever happen, I have children and a family to protect along with my own hide. Guess what I'm gonna be doing. I'm not gonna be yelling down the block "Are you friendly?". I'm either gonna try to evade a group or if it's one or two people, most likely take them out before they could do any harm to me or my family. Think to yourself, are you or would you be willing to trust an absolute stranger(s) in a life or death post apocalyptic world?
  4. I've been playing ARMA 2/DayZ for a little over a month now and have grown kind of tired of being a "lone wolf" all the time and with the community (for the most part) the way it is, it's impossible to trust just random people within the game. I'm a Restaurant Chef in one of the great casinos in Connecticut, father of three, and have an amazing girlfriend (she loves to lay down on the couch and watch me play DayZ if I stream it on the TV for her). BUT! Because of these three things, I'm limited to 10 to 20 hours a week of play time (which is honestly more then enough for me personally anyways). I mainly play at "off hours" for most EST (UTC -5:00) people, with 2 am till about 5 am being my normal hours. My two days off a week are a bit different, with it being summer time right now and depending on the weather, I sometimes get to play a few hour session several times through out the day. What I am looking for is either a small group or a clan to join up with and do in game activities with. Whether it be just going out to scavenge to build up a base camp, raid another group/clans base, help other survivors, etc. It doesn't matter, I just want something more to do in the game, since there isn't really a ton to do right now once you gear up as a lone wolf and make your way to the wild to survive. I'm not super huge on PK'ing, but I will do what I need to do to survive and to protect my brothers and/or sisters in arms. I won't just go around senselessly killing people, unless they are a threat to me and/or my "family". I at one time was a super huge World of Warcraft nerd and lead a top server guild for 6 years, leading many and many of raids to achieve lots of Realm first achievements in that game. I also have played more then my fair share of other games such as CoD: MW, MW2, MW3, and BLOPS, L4D 1/2, Brink, and Battlefield 2. I have no problems with using Ventrilo, Teamspeak, or Mumble. Though I do prefer Ventrilo, but that's because I like hopping on it with my iPhone when on break to just BS at times; I believe Teamspeak 3 has an app as well; which I would most likely end up buying and downloading if that was used for my iPhone. If there are any clans recruiting that would be interested in picking up a "mature" player (cause face it, even at 30 I can have my 12 year old moments) feel free to contact me in this thread, on Steam (slick_gemini) or a private message. I'm not looking to hop into the sack with the first group or clan that contacts me and do plan on doing a little "shopping around" to make sure I find a group that is the right fit for me and that I am the right fit for them as well.
  5. I'm all for melee weapons, in fact they would be the HIGHEST of priorities to have in a post apocalyptic zombie world. You obviously wouldn't ever want to draw attention of other Survivors or Zed in a real life or game scenario. Some things that "I think" would need to be implemented with any kind of melee system though.... * A swing stamina system; sorta like Dead Island. Fact of the matter is, it takes a lot to bash in a humanoid skull, unless you are all juiced up. The human skull is the hardest part of the body, so it should take a toll on you to use a melee weapon. Limited amount of swing in "X period" of time. Even possibly forcing you to move slower for a short duration of time, multiplied by "Y number" of swings. As well as a toll on your Hunger/Thirst for each swing; it doesn't need to be big, but some kind of toll none the less. * ANY and ALL items that are melee capable should and would need to have some fashion of durability to it and eventually break. Again with the human skull being the hardest part of the body, you are only going to be able to swing an axe/hatchet so many times before the handle breaks and/or the blade dulls to the point were it becomes a blunt instrument. Same could be said with a baseball bat which would eventually splinter, a golf club would bend to the point of not being useable, etc, etc, etc..... * Some weapons; smaller ones in particular (ie. Hunting Knife or say a possible screwdriver and such), should have a random chance of not being retrievable. You lodged that knife into a skull, there should/need to be a chance that it is now stuck.

    impossible to find anything?!

I've seem to have quite the opposite luck. Before the latest patch the best I would typically find is an Enfield for weapons and maybe a knife, hatchet, matches for most characters. Since the patch I have been finding a wide assortment of Rifles and Handguns and all other assessors, food, water/soda, medical supplies etc.

    WTF agro bat man

    WTF agro bat man

I've had ZERO problems when crouching or crawling getting around ZEDs. * Don't be dumb and think you can move close to them * Use any and ALL cover around you * Plan your way into and out of areas I've actually come to enjoy DayZ now 100 folds compared to previous version of the mod so far. You really need to think things out instead of just going in and scavenging cites/towns. If anything this latest patch has taken a step into the right direction. Watch any Zombie movie/show, they tend to be able to sense humans from a pretty far distance (ie: The Mall in Dawn of the Dead)

    Pending Update 1.7.1 Details

Does this means that Zeds will no longer be able to "clip" through walls as well? It was kinda disheartening last night when I finally got a character fully set-up the way I wanted, only to be killed by a Zed that I never even saw while talking to my girlfriend on the phone for a minute. :(
