Very true, but I don't want the standalone to be the same way the mod was with several different mods of the mod with more people playing the mods and not the vanilla. You have a fair point.
-
I hope mods are not allowed. You payed money for the game, you should be playing the game the way it's meant to be played, not a modded version of it. EDIT: To clarify: "I hope mods are not allowed [at this point in the development]. You payed money for the game [as it is now], you should be playing the game the way it's meant to be played [and testing it to help the development], not a modded version of it. [When the game is fully released, then modding would be okay, but if they were to allow modding any time before the full release, it would most likely hamper the testing process]." What I initially said was not very smart at all and I realize this. Being late at night when I posted this originally, I didn't fully think through what I was saying. I am not against modding, but I don't want to see mods released throughout the testing process, seeing as the full release still seems to be a long ways off.

I would really like this too, hearing simple things like those in the environment making noises. Perhaps some sort of intense music begins to play softly while in the country side alongside hearing the sounds of animals and trees rustling in the wind, but when you're near/in a city the music stops and you really only hear things like fences rattling and tin cans being blown on the road by the wind. Either way, I would be able to live with either music making a return along with other environmental sounds, or just the environmental sounds being added in. However, the environmental sounds would be most beneficial in terms of immersion than music would be.

I for one would definitely welcome back the ambient music. When I first started playing I too remember the music playing in the background and making me feel that much more tense. It added another layer of suspense to the game in my opinion.

The history tab is nice to have, the only quarrel I have with it though is if you have your server browser settings to search for servers with less than say 100 ping, then the servers in your history will not show if they have over 100 ping which can be annoying having to refresh to see some servers. The history tab should be constant regardless of your ping for that server. (I think I may be getting this confused with what happens in the favorites tab, I can't check to be sure at the moment) As for adding to favorite in game, I would have to say that is what the history tab is for, so you can see your most recent server and then add it to your favorites. Being able to see the name of the server you're in in-game would be nice though, unless you already can and I'm just missing it. But you know, there have been times where I wish I could add the server to my favorites right then and there, so I don't see why not. It would be beneficial.

How many people do you kill in a life on average?
TangoAlpha replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I am more of a lone wolf and survive on my own but on average I kill about 1 person per life. Avoiding players is what I do, but some times there is no other option than to kill them. I don't die much as my characters stay alive for many days at a time before being killed. Up north these past few days I've been on I haven't seen a single person however. One life, I was at balota, coming from the town heading to the military tents when I snuck up on 2 guys at the tree line about to kill someone searching the tents. All of a sudden they all opened fire and me, only armed with an axe, decided to help the poor guy being shot at in the tents. I killed both of the guys in the tree line with a couple swift hits with my axe from behind. I then hid behind a tree and tried to tell the guy "You're welcome, I'm friendly I killed them for you." while he was still opening fire after witnessing me kill them. Stupid me I should of ran the other way, he killed me anyways. -
Is there a point to them at the moment or are they just something you can wear for looks? I had one on my last character before he died, I believe I found it in a hospital.

Some of the posts here have very good points. I vote to randomize. Also having doors left open for long lengths of time randomly swing closed again by the 'wind'.

I should be able to run DayZ at max settings, right?
TangoAlpha replied to doctorrayray's topic in General Discussion
I'm running: Windows 8.1 64 bit i7 4770k @ 3.50GHz Nvidia GTX 760 2GB Corsair Vengeance 32GB RAM 2560x1440 Resolution 2TB Hard Disk Drive (7200rpm) I can run at High settings with hardly any problems at all, but max settings for me is where things start to get bad. Turning down post processing and disabling clouds helps for me though. In time, when the game is better optimized I hope I can run it at max settings without much problem. I expect you should be able to run at high/max settings with your setup whenever some optimization gets done. You may even be able to run it at max now, but without post processing or clouds. -
will there be vehicles in this game you reckon?
TangoAlpha replied to AvaMea's topic in General Discussion
Well fuck you too? Learn to search around for information before just coming on here and posting. What makes my post much different then the other sarcastic remarks? I don't even know why you even bothered to respond to me if your question was answered anyways. I don't know why I'm wasting my time typing to someone like you. -

What you see in Alpha right now is what you get when the game releases. It'll be nice though when they are finally added. -
[Suggestion] Pen + Paper + Tape = Notice
TangoAlpha replied to angry pineapple's topic in General Discussion
I think it can be done. -
I wonder if anyone on here has a Kill All mentality
TangoAlpha replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
So pretty much KoS? Considering there are multiple threads about it, I'd say yes there are plenty of people who like it and plenty who dislike it. What is the point of this? Kill all mentality is the same thing as Kill on Sight. -
Has anyone recently replying read the thread I linked to with Rockets response? I think two characters would totally work so long as each character is on a seperate database as Rocket himself has said they're thinking of doing. For the lazy, I will copy and paste the response here.

I already have a headache right now. This font size is just making it worse.

What does meeting another player in game mean to you?
TangoAlpha replied to Jaybopper's topic in General Discussion
What does meeting another player in game mean to me? Death. Which is why I typically avoid people. -
I think somehow or another they are no longer working. When the alpha first released i heard stories of people finding notes/writing notes, then after a patch people were reporting it no longer working. I hope it gets fixed soon though!

Framedrops every 10-20 sec for 1-2 seconds (Clouds etc already disabled)
TangoAlpha replied to dispx's topic in General Discussion
I have had problems too it seems no matter my settings, I will go from flawless FPS to suddenly a quick 'freeze' then back to normal. And it happens quite often. -
[SUGGESTION]Make EAST much more interesting
TangoAlpha replied to r4nger's topic in General Discussion
I believe military loot should be more inland and not on or near the coast. Balota airfield should be removed in my opinion instead of just spawning everyone on another side of the map. This way you could spawn anywhere along the coast, the south or the east, but if you want the military loot you need to travel to places like NWAF or Vybor etc. I do not like the idea of military areas right on the coast near to spawn points. -
I think the restraining is fine at the moment. Even if the 'nice' bandits that let you go are few and far between, they're out there. I have restrained someone, taken their blood and a much needed pristine can opener, then left them a can of tuna and a soda and released him to go on his way with my newly filled blood bag.

What will the next update bring? Part 2 (No complaining, just daydreaming)
TangoAlpha replied to DevilDog (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
-Flashlights through walls fixed -15 second log out timer added (15 seconds seems reasonable) -Random sounds fixed -
Rocket responded to someone else a few days back about multiple characters and how they might do it. The link to the thread is here http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/155800-one-survivor-urgent/?hl=%2Bmultiple+%2Bcharacters#entry1561167

It was carried over from the mod until they patched it. Not sure of the exact reason it said it in the first place though.

Huh, I was just posting about how I assumed it was a hacker in another thread, but I too had this happen earlier for the first time, couldn't move or anything. Good to know it's a bug and not a hacker though.
