Know what? I'm calling bullshit on all this ghosting talk. It's possible, sure ... but with connecting to a game as unstable as it is at the moment, it's hardly as prevalent as people claim. Folk bang on about it like it's the fucking matrix out there, with people popping out of, and into, existence like they're fucking Higgs Bosuns. Bullshee-it Firefights in DayZ last seconds ... Nowhere near enough time for someone to disconnect, choose another server, move about, disconnect, go back to the original and hope - through esp or some other six sense - they've outflanked their target. I think a lot of this is just someone getting plain ol' outflanked - hardly difficult to do in an engine with poor periperal vision. Face it OP - you got owned. Butthurt is butthurt. Fume.

Looting the apartments in Cherno in the dark, using a chemlight to see. I hear screams outside, then gunfire ... so decide to go on the roof to see what's what. I put out the chemlight and get total darkness, but can still see the 'up' arrow for the ladder. So I press up, thinking it will be at least a bit lighter outside. Nope - I go up the ladder and straight off the side of the building because I don't know when to stop pushing 'up. Fell to my death - and never saw a thing. gah. -
Good point, this ..... But they're not really that sort of 'crawl out the ground' undead zombies - more like infected zombies from 28 days later. But a graveyard would be a nice atmospheric location indeed.

It's funny. I don't mind dying when I set out. I don't mind dying when I'm geared. But dying when you've just found that last bit of survival gear/1st machine gun/Alice Pack/vehicle really, really, really sucks. I go for a walk when that happens. Cry a bit, too. -

I go back to help noobs out. I stock up on meds, food and extra survival supplies and go to the spawning beaches to hand them out, along with good advice. Sometimes I roleplay that my char was a refugee co-ordinator before the apocalypse swept everything away, and she's still trying to do her old job. This causes much confusion when I stay 'in character'. It's much more difficult than it sounds. I posted a few tales about my adventures, which I'll have to update soon. -
Sun Tzu says there are no bad weapons, only bad soldiers. But he never used a crossbow in DayZ. That thing sucks ass, backwards and forwards.

Um ... I just vault barbed wire and tank traps (at the side). Unless they are positioned perfectly it's pretty easy to do. 'Course, you're risking a broken leg, but hey-ho, risk v reward and all that. -

+1 beans for not disconnecting under fire, OP. I'm just wondering where the headshot came from? I've been in that position and it's very difficult for someone to shoot you if you go prone in a deerstand.....

Was thinking about this post, with reference to incrasing scarcity of food, and have come to the conclusion that it's a good idea. At the moment we have the hunger meter, but I cannot think of any occasion when I've been so hungry I've started to lose health. Thirst is different, as it depletes quicker and there have been times when I've been on a long wilderness wander (looking for camps to plunder hehe) when I've suddenly realised I had to find a coke. But with hunger I can't say it's a problem, and a game mechanic you can ignore is one that's not working properly. Might be annoying as currently implemented. - So maybe you could stretch out the time between being required to eat to give you more time to search? -

Why all the hate? Most of these suggestions are pretty sensible. The syringe thing is a bit far out, yeah, and the boiling water mechanic is a bit too tricky to be worthwhile .... but apart from that why not? Have some beans for the effort. Edit - but really, this should be in the suggestions forum ... -

It's a hack - one of the more common ones. If it happens, try and get a note of who was on the server and see if you can identify who did it (they'll have died as well) They may give themsleves away by boasting .... If they do, file a cheat report. -
If you're going to go all out and start blasting away with heavy weapons, you're just going to attract more and more zeds. I was in the same store and aggored a few today. I back off, switched to my handgun and headshot them as they came in one by one. Six dead zeds later I ghosted out of there.

It's not always like that OP ... I personally never shoot first, would never kill in injured player and am pretty friendly if someone announces they are too. I've never been backstabbed, and I've met up with a few randoms and gone scavenging together. I once even gave an unarmed player a shotgun ... risky business, that. He didn't shoot me. -
There's a delay .. but I find you have to be on the side the stomach is facing to pick up the meat. Not the back. IE you are looking directly at its underside when you pick up the meat.

Dude, that is the wrong choice on a lot of levels. First off, you're playing an Alpha - it's not really a game, more a project that's moving towards a finished game. One you'll have to pay for, like every other game. Secondly, you didn't give any money for DayZ - you bought Arma II, DayZ is free. Just trying to get that out there before people start whining about 'paying for stuff twice'. And third - and most important by some way - Gamers have to support DayZ with hard cash to show we will pay for an experience that isn't a cloned fps-on-rails or MMO where the only freedom is to skip a cutscene or not, and the only penalty for death is a loading sceen. Sending that message - and god do some software houses need to hear it - will cost you $15 tops, probably. C'mon, man - take one for the good guys. -

Look, as far back as I've been tracking this game and rocket's comments about it, he's said he wants to go down the standalone route, following the minecraft model. This really isn't new. It's just that now he 's hinting at a timescale. I'm a bit surprised it's so soon, but I've been suspecting that this would happen as it really doesn't make sense to keep giving DayZ away for free when so many people want to play it. -

So I decide to go on the roof to see if anyone is coming (i can still see the arrow). Press up, climb up into TOTAL darkness, take two steps cause I'm still pushing up, and go head first off the side. You are Dead. Motherfucker ...
