  1. Not hard enough, I'd say - I got ambushed by a bandit last night (survived thanks to my hyper-leet running away skillz) and he was blasting away with an automatic rifle in the middle of Cherno without a concern. I thought if you did that you were zombie food, but apparently not.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

One can but hope. It's not just glitching zombies that worry me - last night my backpack got rifled by a bandit through a wall. Was funny, but that shit's not gonna fly come the SA.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

This raises a concern of mine. When the SA goes live people will have much higher expecations, and a stronger sense of entitlement. So far, the arguments that 'It's a MOD' and 'You paid for Arma, not DayZ' have kept those of a whiny persuasion at bay. I'm kinda worried that we'll see a lot of tears on the forums, which are generally an upbeat place, come SA time. What do y'all think?

Just in case you missed it...

Bolt doesn't have dozens of slavering zombies chasing his ass - I'm pretty sure I could run a lot harder and faster than I do now if that was the case. Also - logic: The zombies would get tired too.

DayZ Scenario: Would You Kill or Help

After my last experience helping someone as a fresh spawn - gave him a transfusion and he shot me in the back - I'd probably leave this guy to his fate and maybe try and find the sniper.

    DayZ Standalone Challenge.

Gentlemen, I do believe I'm going on safari this April (or whenever the SA arrives) And I'll be a-huntin Rhinos.

    Too hard since 1.7.5.1

That's what you think you hear - How do you know the farmers aren't actually storming the airbase while the guards defend themselves? Eh? I don't think the game is too hard now - it's just about right. Shooting a rifle in a zombie-infested city should be a suicide note. But yeah, them glitches. Not good. Should be fixed by SA.

How dangerous are the zombies REALLY

A zombie is easily overcome - a group of zombies are a different proposition. I find the main danger is you get hit and cut. DayZ has a bleed out system, so you're going to have to apply a bandage - something not easily done when you're sprinitng from a horde.
  9. Have some beans for the phonetically hilarious cow-death-scream. Is it wrong to laugh at the death of a cow?

DayZ: Most Private Hives Are Not Real DayZ

I'm totally with you here. I took a break for a few months and am getting back into DayZ, but it's difficult to find a server that actually delivers the experience as it was ... (apart from ones I favourite on DayZcommander. God bless you, sir) Loging on to a random server nowadays means you have absolutely no idea what you're going to find. I've even been on servers where everyone was cool with hacking, if general chat was anything to go by. Things that get my goat so far are - the loss of female skins, maps where you spawn with guns, maps with 500+ vehicles, maps with NPC soldiers (!) and maps where you get a full survival kit on the beach. That's just not DayZ.

Have you ever had a good play?

Even the simplest games can turn into an adventure - If I spawn in the SW, I'll sometimes make it a challenge to go to the NE airfield (the small one, not the NW), stopping at Berezino on the way. Usually takes a couple of days playtime, and something always happenes - a firefight, a random encounter, a zombie battle. Once I get there I'll loot for a bit and hang around to see if anything happens- then head back to Berezino. It never gets old. I also once rolpeplayed the last emergency worker in the world, still waiting for refugees coming up the coast - I hung around west of Cherno at the beach, handing out stuff to new spawns. I made a thread about it - every single encounter was different. Dayz is what you make of it.
  12. Nice of you to cook their food before serving up dinner! Never seen this before, but the way the build is at the moment, I'm not surprised wierd glitches are creeping in......

    Female character

Good point - I always wear the male skin. as a cloak mwahahahahahaha.

    New Combat Roll Animation

Yeah - While I don't like the ninja roll, I'm hoping this gets filed under 'worth a try, didn't work'. Not chucking my toys out of the pram because of it.

    New Combat Roll Animation

Ouch - this doesn't really belong in DayZ, does it? Combat Rofl Engage! I actually liked the vault as it gave zombies the chance to catch up. and made you think about where you were running when you're being chased. This totally removes the ohshitohshitohshit moment from when you're getting chased and come up across a wall - now I just fly like a bird from danger!!!! LIKE A BIRD!!!!
  16. This reminds me of the update that removed the starter Makarov. The QQ was strong then, too. Haven't tried it yetm but it sounds as though the Z is back in DayZ, and that's good enough for me. Tired of seeing vids of people shrugging off the zombie threat like it's not there.

What Happened On Your FIRST DAY Of DayZ?

I went into Cherno during the day, found a big gun - it looked like a hunting rifle, or something that was used during World War I. Crawled out into the streets, and thought I would test my new toy on a zombie shambling past ........ Then I got to listen to the 'You are Dead' music for the first time. For a while after that I assumed the Lee Enfield actually spawned zombies.
  18. No - T'will be done when it's done, and I'm pleased that's the mantra the crew are working too.

    Reason behind your username?

Poor you ...... have some beanz as compensation. My name came about years ago when I was playing Battlefield 1942 - desert combat mod. I was scratching about for a name, and spotted a wine bottle on my shelf. Looked back at the screen, and I was blown to smithereens by a rocket. There were some say that t'was an omen!

    Why always Russia

My favourite, with reference to DayZ, was: "In Soviet Russia - Door opens you!"

    A question about zombies...

I always assumed that the deer stands had been commandeered by the military as checkpoints to catch infected people fleeing through the wilderness and spreading the virus. But even the guards succumbed in the end. You have to remember that the world that DayZ is set in is post-apocalyptic. All attempts to contain the virus (and you can see a few as you go around such as barricades etc) failed.

What's your best moment in DayZ?

I wrote this up as a story - it's in the DayZ stories thread if you care to look (where's that gone, btw?) Anyway, I think I was in Stary or somewhere similar. A city with a supermarket opposite an office. I was in the office looting, and I was sure I could hear footsteps. Every time I stopped, so did they - but I was convinced there was someone else in the building too. So I jumped into a side room, and sure enough, two guys - one in camo fatigues - come running down the stairs, flashing their guns and clearly hunting for me. They backed out of the office and went into the market, but they aggroed some zombies on the way. From that moment on all hell broke loose. I could see out the front door of the office, and the guy in fatigues was at the entrance of the market, blasting away while his buddy was in back. This was back in the day when zombies could knock you out with a lucky punch, and one must have landed one on camo guy, as he got flattened and eaten pretty soon. His buddy retreated further into the market, shooting at the zombies coming in, but he forgot about the side door. Sure enough, a second horde came barreling in and slammed right into him. I ran to the first floor and began to shoot through the window in an effort to save him, but it was useless, He got swarmed and eaten too. When it was over I picked off the remaining Zs, looted the corpses (Hey! An M4!) and snuck out of town. This all played out in real time right in front of me and made me addicted to DayZ from that moment on.
  23. Please no - Cherno already looks too much like Glasgow on a Saturday night, with all the zombies stumbling around going mental at the slightest bit of provocation! Edit - but yes to Irn Bru:

Longest time you have stalked someone?

About half an hour, in the woods north of Cherno. I spotted this skulking along the tree-line near the road while I was deper in the woods. I'm not a baddie, so I wasn't going to kill him. It was just interesting watching another player doing his thing. I spied on him as he killed a few zombies (his gunshots attracted me) and looted their corpses and followed him for a while before losing him. Was a lot more fun than it sounds!
