  1. Given that we're seeing a lot more broken bones as starting survivors face zombies without a weapon, wouldn't it make more sense to make the broken bone hit a skull-crushing instant-death blow? I mean, a broken bone forces you to crawl, but seeing as you can't actually crawl into a building, it's kind of a death blow as it is. All that it means is you have to click 'respawn', which I heard was bad for the servers?

goodbye side chat...i shall miss thee...

Found a server with side chat last ngiht and the difference it made was amazing. For the first time in ages I grouped up with two other random guys and went looting. Ok, it ended up with one guy lying in agony with a broken leg and no morphine, but you can't have everything. Please, bring back/keep sidechat - or replace it with this cool-sounding 'radio' idea. Also good.

    The flies!

Anyone else getting a bug* where you can still hear flies but the body is long gone? Happened to me three times so far in last 2 days. *no pun intended.

    The flies!

Thought so - happened 3 times last night. It's hard to ignore dead bodies when you start out with nothing.

After Being Banned Can i play?

Why is anyone helping this self-confessed fucktard?

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

I just see it as flavour - and a way to get new skins into the game. We all look identical at the mo, making teaming wierd.

    Throw bottles to distract zombies

Pick up a can, tin or bottle, press F to cycle to 'throw'. Throw like you would a flare. Run in opposite direction. TBH it's of limited use as throwing a bottle at full strength usually puts it out of reach of a zombie's notice, while throwing it too close brings them to you. Try and hit a wall for extra impact/noise.

    Barbwire really?

I'm all for challenging gameplay, but barbed wire is nothing more than a tool for griefing. Came across it a few times, but if what people are saying on this thread is true, I expect to come across it a lot more. I'm not sure what the thinking behind locking players out of loot spots is. You start with nothing, so you need loot+no lootable buildings=no point in playing. Is that what people want? Some people need to realise that this game will live, or die, depending on the strenth of the playebase......

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. Imagine spawning as a team of five with one of each!

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

Hey Op - I actually suggested something like this yesterday, and got flamed. I think that classes would work - but only as something cosmetic which doesn't unbalance the game. We should all have the same skills and chance to spawn the same loot. Classes should really just be a way to get different skins into the game. I also think that no-one should start with a weapon, which is a step back from my original idea. I think classes should really just be about starting gear and new skins. For example: *Civilian - starts with a coyote backpack, food and soda. *Soldier - starts with Czech backpack, chemlights and a compass. *Medic - starts with morphine, pills and bandages. No backpack. *Hunter - starts with knife, map and binoculars. No backpack. *Mechanic - starts with toolbox and roadflares. So, that's 10 skins (5 classes+male/female= 10) Personally, I'd play civilian. I really don't see what's wrong with this idea as a way forward for thie game. It's going to grow up one day and be a standalone product after all (probably), and will need features to do that.

    Battlemechs

I support this idea for zombie battlemechs.

Spawning Without a Weapon: All of My Butthurt

I hid behind a rock like a boss and lost a zombie that was chasing me. Cowering in fear FTW!

Remove broken bones and make it a death blow.

It's way better.... zombies get to fuck your head up with one hit.

goodbye side chat...i shall miss thee...

Some servers still have it ... and it's still comedy gold. Was on one one last night, lying in Electro listening to 2-3 snipers shooting anyone who moved. When, suddenly: Randomdude: "Anyone in Electro" bangbangbang *pause* Randomdude: "Anyone in Electro" bangbangbang *pause* Randomdude: "Anyone in Electro" bangbang.....bang *Randomdude was killed* LMFAO

Remove broken bones and make it a death blow.

Can you really wigle your way into buildings while crawling? Never been able to do that. Anyone else?
  17. Bottlerocket

Remove broken bones and make it a death blow.

I'm perfectly aware that you can use morphine to 'cure' a broken bone (how realistic is that?). It's just that, if you don't have some - and you don't start with any now - you can't get a dose because you can't crawl into buidlings! Try it - you run into a forcefield.

Just starved to death in Cherno

Found 8+ cans of soda last night. 1 tin o'beanz. So it seems rarer, yeah. Animals, on the other hand, are super abundant.

What is the actual purpose of barbed wire?

Seeing as it only affects players and not zombies, I always assumed it was there for griefing purposes only?
  20. Bottlerocket

For crying out loud give us something!

Problems with zombies? Well, that's because it's "a fucking zombie apocalypse".

    Survivors placing wiring inside buildings

Yep - bloody annoying. Went into a building and managed to hop over the wire - two zombies follow me and walk right through it. Maybe this is realistic, though? Zombies are inured to pain, after all.

    Character classes

I've been thinking about ways DayZ could develop if it was to head down the path of a paid-for standalone game, and as a rough outline, wondered if the introduction of classes would be one outlet for more options. The way I see it, this would give you some diversity when you set out, rather than the identikit 'survivor' we all start as. Classes would have different starting gear and different skins (which could be purchasable, I suppose, if that was one way the game was being funded.) I thought: *Civilian - starts with food, water a backpack and map. *Medic - starts with pills, morphine and/or blood and bandages. *Soldier - stars with a gun and 1 mag, chemlights and a backpack. *Hunter - starts with a knife and a hunting rifle (Lee enfield) plus 1 mag. *Mechanic - I've never repaired a vehicle, so not sure about this one. Are toolboxes in game? If not, how about fuel and spare parts? Of course, this would just be starting gear - you would pick up stuff as you go along. This may encourage co-operation - but the huge drawback is that the two armed classes will simply shoot the others for their stuff. But it's not really that different from starting with no weapon just now (which I support!) Still, might be a worthwhile idea. Who knows?

    Character Clases (moved)

Edit - put this in general, but perhaps it should go here.
