If there's one thing that Zombie survival guide has taught us, it's that firearms are not to be trusted in a Zombie Apocalypse. 1) They are noisy, and attract other zombies. 2) They are indiscriminate - you are just as likely to shoot a fellow survivor by mistake 3) They require ammo. 4) They give you a feeling of invulnerability because of their effectiveness against people. The Walking Dead, however, do not give two fucks about the effectiveness of firepower. Garden tools or a good old museum-raided medieval weapon is your best bet.

When this happens they should introduce a hurricaine-load roaring wind noise on every server for a minute or too, followed by the sound of a thousand exploiters crying out in rage.

Ah just remember it happens to us all. It's an Alpha and we're just testing it. Everyone has died through some combination of wierd luck, bad gameplay, evil bandits, super zombies, man-eating stairs, paper-thin walls, unexpected glitches, homicidal trees, high-velocity rounds, short drops, killer bunnies, 'magic bullets', traffic accidents, bad karma, unjust hax, femme fatales, apache gunships, nuclear strikes, barbed wire, starvation, infection, dehydration or just random, unexplained deaths. I myself ran into a barn, heard footsteps, saw a zombie come in, shot it - and was then headshot by the survivor hiding above me who's footsteps I'd actually heard. The only certainty in DayZ is a series of messy, violent deaths.

Just wondering if anyone has done this? I got cornered in a warehouse without a weapon, and started throwing cans at the zeds that came in. Only managed to hit one, but it let out a grunt and the skin changed to the 'bloodied zombie' one. Was wondering if it's possible to pelt a zombie to death with trash? Might be helpful for newly spawned players.

Did anyone hide a bike in a fir tree near the outskirts of Berezino? near the church? I left it there while I went in to loot the apartments, but temptation got the better of me and I took it on my way out. I didn't see anyone, so I assumed the owner was dead by then. Anyway, thanks. It ran out of fuel to the west of 'Zino and its stashed in another bush.

Short one - I was trapped on the roof of Berezino hospital by a horde I'd aggroed on the way there. Casting around for some way out, I noticed another survivor in the store across the road. So I lobbed a few flares at the door. The horde was her problem after that :)

Guys, DayZ is an Alpha build, and we're testing it. A total wipe is inevitable when it moves on to the next phase. It's just being developed, so if the Devs decided to do a total wipe tomorrow (which I'd be cool with, despite having pretty good gear) I wouldn't complain. It's their call and it will happen.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to be that 'crazy sniper guy' in DayZ. The map is so big that unless you're in Cherno, Elektro or the NW airfield, chances are you'll never see anyone. There's also so much more you could do - it's likle being given the keys to a lambourghini and spending the day reverse parking.

It's bad for the servers, also.

Excellent! That fact it was by the Wu-Tang was the icing on the cake.

Not so .... teaming up in this game makes it better, and you get a real feeling of victory when you do it with strangers and it works out. Some of my best and most memorable moments in game have come from doing this. Don't get attached to your stuff, is what I say. Everybody dies in DayZ, and we're all getting wiped one day anyway.

Yep, priest zombies are in the game. They hang around the monastries. They look like Orthodox priests- black hats, big beards, long black robes. You can see them in Novy Sobor, I think - it's east of Stary Sobor. The pedant in me must point out that Stary Sobor means 'old cathedral'. Novy Sobor = new cathedral. Because there's a new ... ah go check it out.

I've been against it since I started playing DayZ, and have railled against people on these forums for doing it. But watching that vid made me want to get a hold of a sniper rifle and murder any noob dang fool enough to wander into my crosshairs.

Just noticed on Steam that I've put more hours into DayZ than I put into Skyrim - and I'm nowhere near finished with DayZ yet. I know I'm only speaking for myself ....... but if that's not proof that Rocket et all are on to something, then I'll eat my baseball cap.

Yeah, I struggle to see what anyone would get out of this style in Dayz. There's just so many games that offer this type of gameplay - only much, much better. There's so much going on in DayZ, it just seems that moronically sniping people who offer no threat is like being given the keys to a lambourghini and practicing reverse parking all day.
