Do you think the OP was actually crying when he wrote that post? I just read it again and it just screams nerd-tears. It's both fatuous and needy in all the right amounts. -
If you watch Rocket's presentation at Rezzed (Google it, it's worth it), he discusses, not a safe zone, but basically player-constructed bases underground. How they would work with friendly fire isn't addressed (but in the past safe zones have been discounted), but they would be intstanced, meaning no-one could server hope and go on a gun-crazy rampage (the other factor which makes safe zones impossible atm). It's coming - but, like a huge chunk of DayZ - it's a case of 'watch this space'. Personally, I think the game needs a hub inside it for players to meet and make plans. Out in the wild it's shoot on sight, and to a certain extent DayZ has ... well, not failed, exactly, but, is being ... let's say ... is being limited by its player base. IMHO. I'm not sure why everyone wants to KoS. Gear is not difficult to come by, and the game is much more fun - and easier now we have better zombies post 1.7.2 - when you play in a group. Perhaps people are just conditioned by previous games? I think that's got something to do with it.

Dude, no-one is forcing you to play this. But you don't to get what's going on here - we're all testers in a project, which will one day - hopefully - become a fully-fledged game. It can't be 'broken' as you describe, because it's not even been built yet. It's being built as we speak; you're literally watching the walls go up around you. Usually, Alpha tests are done behind closed doors. I have no idea why, but this is being tested in the open. The only thing you can be in response to that is grateful. I have to say, that's not how you're coming across. If you don't have the patience for what's going on here, then fine. I would posit that it's your loss. You obviously prefer Arma, so go play that. Nobody's going to miss you and with 500,000 other testers, your loss won't even be noticed. -

Shhhh .... after hearing about this and never finding it I finally stumbled across this location. Got myself a AK-74 Kobra within 10 mins of respawning (after getting shot). Quickest I've ever been back on my feet. Let's not tell everyone, right?

Head north and look for barns and cowsheds. Shotguns, crossbows and leeroy enfields spawn in these. Get your bad self one of those, then head to Cherno and exact your terrible revenge! -

Oh it absolutely has to stay open, and I'm totally opposed to any penalties for PvP of any kind. I just think it's far,far to easy to be a dick in this game at the moment. And I consider people sitting in Cherno, Elekrot, the Bean beaches sniping players who offer no threat and who they don't intend to loot to be dicks. They're just griefing, plain and simple. So let's make it harder for them. -

I came across a zombie vegatarian once ..... He was after my graaaaiiiinsssss! Seriously tho - zombie priests appear near a monastery in, i think, novy stobor. Seen zombie doctors once in Cherno. You occasionally get zombie beekeepers out on some of the farms. Of course, they keep Zom-bees. I'll get my coat. -

Simple - take out sniper rifles and make military weapons extremely, exremely rare. At least until the unlimited ammo bug is fixed. See how many bandits you get when bullets become a scare commodity. -

Had two fairly long sessions since patch, and I can't say I really notice much change in the zombies. Ok, they aggro from further away if you are crouch running or standing, but so what? You should always, always, always be crawling when zombies are in the vicinity. People who are saying it's too hard should remember that this is a "fucking zombie apocalypse". Here's a test. Go into your home town this weekend and imagine that the crowds of shoppers aren't people, but hordes of zombies*. How scared would you be? How far away do you think you'd have to be before they noticed you? How fast and how far would you have to run before you could get away from them if they did spot you? This mod's striving for authenticity, and you simply should not be able to go anywhere near one of the infected without risking your life. Last night I crawled through a field full of walkers and survived. I did this by stopping and watching and throwing flares to distract them - and it was immense. Don't go in front of them. Use your roll to get around. Go back if you have to. Carry trash and flares to throw as distractions. I did all this to get to a market and get some beans, and that's the way it should be. The virus in DayZ has taken down the world - why should you be any different? Getting loot should be a terrifying experience that leaves you with sweaty palms and the shakes. Experiences like this are what makes DayZ unique. Get into that - don't shout at the devs to spoil it. *Don't take this too far, obviously. - Other things about the patch: Have noticed improved FPS performance, but much greater instability. Aside from the initial 'waiting for character to create' problems, I've been disconnected from several servers, had one 'session terminated' rather abruptly. I started characters that never reappeared, and did not get the gender choice on the one I'm using now. Also came across one instance of 'unlimited zombies' respawning at Bolata. Lickily, two other survivors turned up and the all ran off together :) -

Just managed to get into a server! Aggored a zed well outside of a town by stumbling into its radius, shot it and aggroed alot more. Had to fight them off, getting hit multiple times, before I ran and hid behind the rock ... And ... None followed. Line of Sight still working well. Also, despite getting hit enough times to get knocked out - I didn't break any bones!!! So zombies are not the death machines some are postulating. Mind you - I was unable to hear anything after I went down to 5,000 blood, which I'm assuming is a bug. -

Was in this position when the 'hatchets are now weapons' and 'start with nothing' update rolled round. I had a sniper rifle, all camping supplies, lots of food and drink, m1911, plenty of ammo and 200+ zed kills. Hit respawn and never looked back. Starting out is where the fun is, tbh. -

Yep - in the Arma 2 options, I think. Where you change your name. You can also change your face. Not much variety (they all looked alike to me) but there's a few with beards, grey hair, black guys etc.

Commendable suggestions, and a DAMN SIGHT better than most of the others on here. But I'd add that female characters should take 10 minutes to piss and 20 to shit. I mean, how long do girls need in the bathroom, anyway? I also think you should get some sort of buff for carrying wet wipes as well as toilet paper. Although the mechanics for that would be complicated and it's probably best left to some future expansion.
