Maybe an events subforum would be a good platform for people to promote ideas and get togethers? -
They definitely need to add something that makes the permadeath hit harder. I'd say some kind of character progression that doesn't unbalance the game (so no 'bullets do twice as much damage' perks or anything). Just subtle things like getting more proficient at crafting etc. If this were wiped when you died then you would have lost hours of work that you couldn't just reclaim by killing a geared fella.

I don't think he should go sooner rather than later. Sure he has his flaws, which are mostly to do with how he presents information to the community (although the negative response I can't help but feel is often mostly our fault not his). But DayZ is his vision, and I think ultimately we benefit from his input. The main thing is that he is an inspiration. If one young modder out there looks to him and sees an opportunity to make something of their hobby then that is great, we need more people like him in the games industry. People who succeed at doing something a bit different off their own back. Despite my often having to cringe due to him putting his foot in his mouth, I like Rocket, and I think he should stay until his creative influence is no longer necessary. -
Nah, gore cheap. What the game does need is atmosphere. Even something as simple as the sound of crows in the background would do this.

I think it is a good thing to be honest. Sniping is not something that involves just pointing a crosshair at a target and killing it instantly. It requires practise and training. I'd say the sway is an approximation of the fact that people in DayZ are not elite snipers. I don't think point and click sniping is realistic or authentic.

They'd have to change a lot about the game to make it consistent with that aesthetic. You're not going to be finding as much loot. If you think about it, even after a few months you're gonna start having a hard time finding stuff, after long enough for nature to reclaim everything, you're going to be on the verge of starvation every day unless you get lucky or are good at hunting. Most likely all the guns will be gone as people will raid all the common places such as military bases. The gameplay as things stand is consistent with a world that is only days after a catastrophe.

Flint and steel could be good too. Maybe have tinder as an in game item that each has a different chance of catching light depending on its condition and so on. You could have an option to peel bark off a birch tree or pine resin and so on. You could find the flint and strike a spark of a knife or axe head etc.

Yeah I quite like the idea of removing the zombies as they are shit and annoying. I would most definitely play on a server that had no zombies and turned loot right down.

Have you followed any guides for getting more fps? These often tell you to add launch parameters... This is what caused the blue screen thing for me. As for the world not loading etc. One of the pics says 'no message recieved' which is an indication that you joined a server that was resetting which might explain things. Did you have the same problem on different servers? Also might be caused by the fact that you are on an iMac but I have no clue how you'd sort that... -
I think if you change server too many times within a certain period you should be spawned in the wilderness at least a km away from any buildings.

Consoles... How They Will Ruin DayZ

People seem to have overreacted somewhat when hearing that the game is coming to PS4. Firstly its been said since before the alpha release. The only difference is not it's been officially announced. Secondly they are not going to ruin the PC version just to accommodate consoles, they have been clear on that. Thirdly enough morons and children already play DayZ. Fourthly please don't use Comic Sans again. -

Depends what mood I'm in... It's also not as cut and dry as being friendly or not. If you are friendly to me and I feel like you aren't acting shady then I'll be friendly. To be fair, I remember consoles being talked about a while ago by Rocket... Not a huge amount of concern then. Now it's actually been officially announced everyone goes apeshit.

It seems as though they intend to go about it in the right way. Hopefully. What should happen is that the PC version is made with no omissions or compromises or anything like that, then this final product is hacked at with a rusty knife if needs be in order to get it to work on the PS4... What should not happen is that the notion of the game being released on PS4 affects the development in such a way that things that might not necessarily be possible on that platform are omitted for PC. I'm unsure as to how the heck it would work on a controller too...

A note book would be a sweet addition to the game. So you could actually make a full blown diary or just make useful notes.

If nothing is sacrificed or omitted in order that it is able to be ported to PS4 I don't give a shit. If there are sacrifices and omissions in the PC version in order to do this they can go suck a big one. DayZ would be nothing without us PC gamers.
