I think it can easily. Once a building is barricaded it becomes a occupied zone and anyone other than the base owner cannot log in inside it. I places them outside again.

The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)

Boats and islands is what I want. That's why I fell in love with Taviana. -
It isn't I think it will be funny if they do make sniping much harder and watching all the current snipers crying when they don't succeed at their point and click mini game
-
I don't think so, I think you'd just see more dead, failed snipers

Beyond the scope of the engine probably but the ability to track animals and players would be awesome

I want a rocket launcher attachment for it

Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?
doctorbadsign replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
I agree its a bit mental that everything gets ruined with a single shot, but I guess its something that will be sorted later. -
Well I think those who kill for fun are open about it. I've killed for fun on occasion (and felt really bad after). There's not really any reason to lie about your motives in a video game. I think there are many, many ex-friendlies who kill on sight because of their newly developed trust issues. I've felt like that at times.

Well that is in itself a moral question raised implicitly by the game. Would there be morality after the breakdown of society? Or even the meta-game question; can a game ever really establish a morality system that is directed by players alone? (For some I truly believe it can.) Sure some people shoot everyone without caring and that does raise the question of whether an individual's morals can survive under such conditions, for many in DayZ it seems that they can't. But those are interesting conditions for the rest of us. Even those who do kill on sight do so because they do not want to trust others---which is a moral decision. Anyway what I'm trying to say is DayZ does raise some interesting moral dilemmas and questions---whether you care about it or not. I think a black and white moral system based on killing is antithetical to any interesting discussion about the morals of DayZ and would ruin the game for those who do like to think about such things.

I think sniping should be harder for certain. Not even because that discourages people but because it would make you feel awesome for pulling off tricky shots.

I'd love to see cards. Betting on poker with bullets would literally be amazing.

Not far enough. Remove all other players and replace zombies with bunnies :)

How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
doctorbadsign replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
Get to cover. It helps if you try to stick to cover all the time. Breathe, take a second and compose yourself. You'll never not panic when shots fly, but you can do a few things to keep you alive long enough to fight back. -
My point still stands, a moral system that allows for retribution by killing is flawed as hell. It isn't that black and white. I've killed loads of fresh spawns that attacked me. I would have helped them if they weren't such morons, but alas I killed them to defend myself. Say for the purposes of this discussion I have to do that 3 times in a go on a particularly bad day. Say on the same server there is a guy camping Electro shooting fresh spawns for sport. The system proposed here would say that we are morally equivalent. Everyone knows that is not true. In real life morality is not a meter that is either full or empty, and that can be replenished by doing good things. I can't kill a child in cold blood and then give £1m to charity to make up for it. Nor can I spend my time killing bad people to make up for it. Some would say that killing is always wrong whether it's bad people, innocent people or in self defence. At the end of the day it depends upon your outlook and on a lot of things. DayZ is awesome in that it deals with some heavy moral issues without it being an in-game system. It all happens in the player's head. It should stay that way. I feel like a bad person sometimes in DayZ, I question my actions. I don't want the game to do that for me by saying "you earned the bandit achievement" so to speak.

Its probably because if they added anything more to the inside of the houses we would get about 2 fps in cities.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
doctorbadsign replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I bound run to one of the side buttons on my mouse (a lot of mice(?) have at least two on the side). (Also if you bind iron sights to one of these you bring your gun up much quicker than if its on the same button as raise weapon) -
Would you like to see a snow zone and a radiation zone?
doctorbadsign replied to HEV's topic in Suggestions
Snow yeah... I dunno why there would be a radiation zone though? -
So I could torture and murder 10 fresh spawns, go bandit hunting and I'm back to being a good person? Morality isn't that simplistic. And a moral system based upon killing most definitely has problems. The reason I like DayZ is because it forces me to make moral decisions and puts me into a lot of grey areas. Good does not equal killing bad people and bad does not equal killing innocent people.

The issue with gut feelings is that they can only enforce a black and white moral perspective. There is no room for this person who didn't want to, but had to murder someone in self defence. Any such system could only take account of the kill itself. Also a bandit who rather than killing people likes to break people's legs and leave them to starve to death would not register as being a murderer. So sadists who haven't technically killed anyone would slip through the system and people who have killed in self defence would be branded as a bandit. I've killed a few players, but I don't really play as a bandit. I have KOS'ed on occasion when I felt like it, but that is not my main play style. I don't want my character to be treated differently because a couple of days ago I had to kill someone or other when I was in the mood to do that. A system that says either you're good or bad based on your kill count is painfully over simplistic for a game with the moral depth and ambiguity of DayZ.

Need motivation to play 3p view servers
doctorbadsign replied to vnratc's topic in General Discussion
I'm saying nothing. 3PP is lame :) I literally only use my 3PP char for messing around and experimenting -
I met a guy once who was being reluctant to do what I said, and was not talking using a mic. It very soon became apparent that they were stalling and waiting for their friends to come to the location so we shot him in the face. You get your own gut feelings in DayZ...

Creating a End-Game for DayZ - How to reduce BanditsS
doctorbadsign replied to gilgamesh333's topic in Suggestions
Private shards with whitelisting is all you need. I had a couple of servers I'd play the mod on where everyone was friendly as it was a community and I never once got killed on sight. Once you have those kinds of server available you don't really need any kind of gameplay changes to reduce PVP. Those who want that can play on the servers that promote it. Those who don't can play on servers that discourage it. Nothing needs to change with regards to game mechanics. -
I'd actually like to see them release a unique DayZ map that is fully designed with DayZ in mind. The main reason I want a new map though is that I want to feel lost again. I really miss those days back when I first played the mod and I had no idea what the fuck I was doing or where I was. A totally fresh map would at least recapture the being lost aspect. It makes me sad that I can spawn in and navigate most of the map without even needing a reference :(

We need a better indicator on how cold we are
doctorbadsign replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think the whole status messages thing needs to be scrapped. As many people state; it is annoying---your char sounds like a whiny baby. A graphical HUD would be so much better. I don't see why the devs feel such aversion to this. It doesn't need to be on screen at all times, and it doesn't even need to be 100% accurate as to the state of your char. It could function much like the toolbar in that it can be toggled on or off. -

Shaking hands and the eventual inability to use them without warming them up first? "My hands are too cold to do that" would make people think about getting warm.
