Did you go anywhere different to where you were when you had 40 fps? Towns and other places can cause an fps drop. Did you change server? A laggy server might cause an fps drop. Did you have any other applications running that weren't running first time around? Did you change any of the video settings? Too many variable to give a decent answer as to why it happened at the moment,

There are multiple warnings on the Steam page, this website and at the beginning of the game itself that make it clear these kind of errors will occur. Not meaning to be rude, but you should have read them and considered them before buying, as Steam does not give refunds. Whenever I buy a game I spend at least an hour or two looking into whether it is worth my money. If you're going to be impulsive with your purchases, you only have yourself to blame if they do not turn out to be something you're interested in. This isn't such a problem when you have a physical copy of a game, because you could always return it, but as Steam does not do refunds it is important to do quite a bit of research before committing to buy something on there. With the example of DayZ, it is quite clear to any prospective buyer willing to spend even a couple of minutes researching that the game is unfinished, lacks features and contains some game breaking bugs and issues. If you did not know this before you purchased the game that's your problem. The development team have been very transparent and do not dress DayZ up as a finished or even nearly finished game. You should have known this, instead of clicking 'buy now' because it was on the top sellers list. Furthermore, coming here to criticize the game, after apparently being unable to comprehend said warnings, demanding unobtainable refunds is only going to get yourself and many others riled up. It would be more worth your while if you just left us to enjoy the game :) rather than having a furiously heated argument with most of this forum's members.

Actually I can make a better guide in fewer words. Make a mistake, die, learn from said mistake, repeat. Do that enough and you'll be a pretty decent player.

Did you change to a different server when you logged back in? Regular and Hardcore servers are different hives, so there is a chance you switched between the two hence losing your stuff. Then again it could just be alpha whatnot...

My biggest concern is burning out before the game is finished. I try not to play it too much.

I agree, complaining about getting killed is stupid. I died at the NEAF yesterday. My immediate response was not to come on here and whine about it, I just shrugged and said to myself "I'll be more careful next time" and got on with it. Whining about getting killed is a waste of time and it achieves nothing.

You can record a lot more than the last 20 mins of gameplay on Shadowplay if you set it to manual, then you just hit alt+f9 to start and stop recording

Also from my experience, the cross hair does not always correspond to where you will hit with a melee weapon.

Do you use space to raise the axe before attacking? I find it easier to not raise the axe.

Yeah the melee doesn't seem all too great at the moment for handling zombies... My advice is to use the mega super sprint (fists up, double tap w) to get away from zombies until you find an axe.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by abandoned safe area, could you clarify for us? A lot of people seem to assume you mean an area in the game which denies zombies and other players the ability to hurt you, but its not actually that clear in your post

How drastic is the change in speed? Do you have fists up to do the mega sprint? If you tell us exactly what you did we can see if we can recreate it

Hmmm to be fair I think its worse to run at someone who yells friendly when they have a gun pointed at you. That is taking stupid to a new level.

Yeah before crying hacker, people should research what kind of effects desync can have... It's easy enough to blame hackers for the weird shit you see, but one must first rule out other possibilities, including desync, as hacking is a rather serious allegation to make of another player (could result in VAC ban potentially).

Whether or not people like Epoch is a contested matter, but largely irrelevant in what I have to say, but they have it right in terms of logging out. You cannot log out near another player You cannot log out in combat And you cannot click Abort for 10 seconds A system like this would work in SA

I prefer the style of guns that they are going for in SA. If you enjoy modern weapons I can recommend Arma III
