    Digestive System?

Not sure if you're trolling or just bad at having ideas. Allowing players to take a shit is going to open the floodgates for various fecal related abuses on other players. Aside from that I get annoyed enough as it is with my whinging baby of a character without him going "I need a pee" or "I need a shit". No. Just no.

    Thread in defense of banditry

I wouldn't define KOS as a play style because people do it for different reasons. I am generally what you might call a friendly player, however if I am at a military area I will kill anyone I see unless they are obviously not a threat (in which case I would make them leave). Everyone has their idea of when it is okay to kill on sight, so its difficult to describe it as a play style when most players have a KOS line as it were. I would define a bandit as a player that seeks to exploitatively gain at the expense of others. Whether that is holding them up, or KOSing them. They are doing it for a reason and make a choice about who they kill. This in my opinion is a valid and necessary component of DayZ. I would define "griefers" as players who KOS indiscriminately for their own amusement. This is all they really want from it and any gear is a bonus. They have no problem shooting unarmed players. I don't think there is a valid means of stopping this play style, and one could argue that it is therefore legitimate, however it is rather pathetic and childish in my opinion. All I can hope for is a large number of clans and organisations to emerge with the sole purpose of griefing the griefers and sharing their tears with the world. Mmmm sweet justice....

Me vs 4 guys in the piano room

Lol why were they all in the same room. Have 1 or 2 downstairs watching the doors and and someone covering the stairs. It doesn't take 4 to loot that room at the back upstairs.
  4. Owls at night time. Ravens cawing during the day.
  5. Yeah I agree, there are lots of false positives when it comes to people calling out hacker. I've been playing with my friend and had him go invisible on me and stuff, so it is definitely hard to make an accurate call given the desync issues etc. That being said I also don't think it helps when people who may have experienced people using hacks get treated as though they believe in some whacky conspiracy. I am not saying that of you personally, but whenever you get a thread about hacking you inevitably get people instantly dismissing it as desync issues. Sure the problem is lessened compared to the mod, but a smaller problem is still a problem, and it does not help that people treat it as if it is non-existent.
  6. Considering that even Rocket acknowledges the existence of hackers, and the video evidence for them, I would say that your experience or lack of having seen any evidence does not count for too much. I've not encountered any either, but I acknowledge their existence.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I believe getting through walls is a well known glitch, that can be replicated by following certain steps. It is terribly annoying though and should be fixed asap.

    Something is missing in DayZ

Obviously it would be tough to simulate and implement, but it sure would be awesome. Maybe rather than representing it graphically, there could be a "study body" option that would say something like "this person died from an axe wound to the back of the head", or "this person was shot 3 times with an M4 from the North East". This could be complete with an animation so that there is a risk involved with doing it.

    Something is missing in DayZ

Anything that lends a CSI element to DayZ would be good for two reasons: 1. So you know what happened and likely where the murderer is from the death scene. 2. It would add something to do. Going to the NWAF with a group and trying to figure out who killed who and in what order...

Sal's 13 Rules For Lone Wolves

Also you don't need to alt-tab, just shift tab and click "web browser" on the bottom of the Steam overlay.

    We need server restart warnings

So I was on the outskirts of Electro today, my first time in DayZ for a while. I needed a drink so I decided to head towards the pump outside the green house on sniper hill. I hear gun shots and figured they were close by. "Yay some impromptu Electro sniper hunting" I thought, so I crept around through the bushes, prone, waiting to get some idea of the direction of the shots. I hear more shots, and begin to close in to the location. Got right behind where I thought the shots were coming from, and decided to wait it out to see if they fire again, just to make certain... "No message received for 10 seconds" I was getting so into the moment, and my heart was pounding at the tension, wondering whether or not I had what it takes to outdo another player, and it all came to nothing because the server restarted. We really need warnings for when servers restart. I don't give a fuck about when players are kicked or have a bad connection etc. I just want the red text at the side to say "warning server restarting in 10 mins" etc. Then at least I would have known to either not bother with my pursuit or to have sped it up a bit.

    Is Dayz still the Anti-game?

    What does anti-game even mean?
  13. I appreciate that you are not racist and I appreciate your above response. However in my opinion you should not make racist remarks jokingly or otherwise. First off it does come across as genuinely racist and secondly it lends an air of legitimacy to people who actually believe those kinds of things. I just don't think it is a fit subject for humour. I also hope you understand that I am not being overly sensitive. I grew up in a small town where a lot of people are geniunely racist and its not pleasant to hear in any context. I also feel it necessary to challenge, especially those that think it is okay or normal.

Any way to raid a military jail with armed people in it?

You could maybe try to lure them down somehow. If they are dumb that might work.

    Periscopes for Hardcore mode?

Stance adjust from Arma 3.... It's soooo good, DayZ needs it.
  16. I'm not against that one bit. All I am saying is that someone reads the proposed description, plays the game for a bit to see if it matches said description. If it does not then they should ask them to change the description. If they refuse then the game does not get listed.
  17. Yes, but it should never have got there in the first place. And you should also note that it is still there under a different name.
  18. Just because you have been screwed over for worse things doesn't mean that Steam should not support checks and measures to ensure that the Early Access program is not abused. I'm not necessarily saying that it should be scrapped. But perhaps developers need to pay a fee for every three months in Early Access or something. There needs to be all sorts of checks and measures implemented on Steam to be fair. Some kind of vetting procedure would not be a bad thing, whereby someone checks the see whether the product is as described and so on.
  19. Yes, but most products also have certain standards to meet. You cannot for example sell someone half a washing machine as a whole one and so on. All I am saying is that Steam implements some checks and measures to ensure that the scenario I outlined cannot happen. Are you not for consumer protection?
  20. The problem is that it can happen given the structure of the system. We've all seen how literally any old shit can get on Steam. It would not take a lot for the scenario I pointed out to happen. I mean it pretty much did with the War Z.
  21. The history of gaming is littered with tittles abandoned in mid development. The risk nowadays is that we might very well have already paid for them.
  22. Like I mentioned my sentiments don't apply specifically to DayZ as DayZ is pretty good in the regard of letting people know what they are in for. Imagine I start a games development company and I manage to get people interested in my game from various blogs and youtube videos etc. People start to get interested. I release the game into the Early Access program on Steam, people start to pick it up. There is not much to the game, but I promise users that it will get better and that I will listen to their suggestions etc. Once X amount of money is made I decide its no longer profitable to carry on with the game so it gets left unfinished to linger in people's Steam libraries. I then do the same thing after having changed my development company's name etc. There is not much to stop me doing that. There is also no requirement to tell people not to buy your game in the Early Access program. Developers can presumably put what they want in that little blue box. I could write "This is going to be the best game ever, buy it now to make sure you don't miss out!" Just because DayZ did the right thing doesn't mean everyone will. I'm not sure a system whereby the consumer has to ensure 100% that they can trust the product they are buying before commuting to purchase is not a good one. In all other areas there are various quality checks etc. This is what Steam needs; a system that doesn't allow anybody to put anything for sale on there.
  23. I know about the warnings etc thanks. I read them when I bought it. I bought it knowing full well that it might be unplayable. The main motivation behind this was because it would be cheaper. Most people just bought it because it is the top seller on Steam. Maybe they are suckers if they don't like it, or maybe it shouldn't be available to them? I dunno the exact answer. My comments were about early access in general.

Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)

I'm not particularly angry, just trying to emphasize the fact that it is impossible to tell whether this game will be good at the end of all this.
  25. No it wasn't. Early Access is a bad idea. Well let me rephrase that. Early Access is a good idea for developers in that it lets them earn money before finishing their product. Early Access is a bad idea for gamers who get no guarantee that what they paid for is ever going to be finished, or indeed what they paid for at the end of it.
