    The 5 Rules Of Dayz...

1: Close all doors. 2: Have a plan. 3: Don't seek contact with a group that is larger then you(rs). 4: If you engage in conversation with someone be in control, if you don't have control take it, if you can't, get out. 5: It's better to take long and achieve, over taking the short route and lose. And my most important rule: Before heading into a city make a stash with your gear. Take minimum stuff with you, try to look unimportant. If you get into contact and get chased, run around a corner, take that pistol out and let that fucker have it as soon as he turns the corner. Must be one hell of a surprise for the fucker, thinking you were a bambi.

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

You truly think that there's nothing in between what we saw in the video and what you just described? You come across pretty narrow minded and not very smart. I think you can do one about survival, regardless of what I think of the atmosphere you try to create with your trailer the cinematics are very well done, especially when considering that this is a first try. Btw, I didn't mean to come across like total dick in my initial reply, so my apologies if I did ;)

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

Running around shooting at 'the enemy' makes it feel like Arma for me. I don't think this trailer does justice to what Dayz stands for, it doesn't represent the game very well in my opinion. Which is what a trailer should be doing ;)

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

3 and a half minute of shooting, rename it to Arma trailer and it would be quite nice.

Couple Ideas for Camping and 46 Speculation

Have my beans, I like the thought of something like this. Maybe needs some more polishing, but I like your perspective, thinking a little bit out of the box. People only think tents=storage. I like the campsite idea.

    How effective are the notes/paper?

I think notes should be persistent, at least until they are read. Would be nice to be able to put them on doors, walls etc. using duct tape. I sometimes leave goody-bags (backpack with food, water, can opener, perhaps some ammo, bandages) in places where newspawns go, with a friendly note included, but don't know if anyone ever found one.

    Narrow Escape

I'm pretty positive that your best bet is to run as soon as he raises his weapon. Def. not stand still.. Perhaps run of to your right, to the back of the store and escape there.

    Narrow Escape

The guy raises his weapon and you stand still, raising your hand saying hi.... Do yourself a favor and rethink what you'd do next time .. ;)

    BUG

    http://feedback.dayzgame.com/my_view_page.php
  10. Hey :) * No to very low loot spawning. Loot spawns, server was probably up for a while and well populated. There is no respawn of loot (yet), so when the server is up for a while the loot reduces. * Zombie chase noises randomly and regularly with no zombies anywhere near me. This is a known bug that isn't fixed yet. * Very, very few zombies anywhere. I mean perhaps one in a whole town and when it saw me it didn't move. I finally got a zombie to chase me and it seemed to be lagging and juddering rather than chasing me. Zombies are not in the numbers in which they will be yet, once a bunch of server-side and network optimizations are done, the number of Zs will be increased. * I couldn't get my crowbar/wrench to swing in an attack to save my life. This may have been me missing something obvious. Raise your weapon, by pressing spacebar. Then wing it ;)

The opposite view of FrankieonPC's newest video

Just to clarify: I think people that KoS, handcuff bambies, forcefeed them bleach etc. are total dicks, but I don't mind them being in the game. Their pathetic and sad behavior is part of what makes the game 'fun' for me.

The opposite view of FrankieonPC's newest video

Haven't read the whole thread, but to everyone shouting at 'ze Germans' for not playing nice... I ran into the barefoot bandits about a week or something ago. Did not know these guys, but wondered if they were the ones from Frankies vid, turns out they were. They were genuinly nice to me and together we kept Berezino safe from assholes for a while. I played for a couple of hours with Lexta and some others and I can assure you that during those hours these guys were not dicks, but were nice to play with :) That being said, I've played with a couple groups of people regularly and I have notices something very strange; when people play in groups the atmosphere gradually shifted more grim/dark towards people that are not part of the group... Whenever I notice this happening I get out of the group, because I don't want to be like this... I think you can apply some serious psychology onto gameplay and human behavior in DayZ.... Check out the "Stanford Prison Experiment" if you want to know what I mean :D

Is Dayz standalone even relevant anymore?

Hey man, sure you are entitled to your opinion and expectations... But with all the warnings about the game being alpha (yes, I said it) and developers advice to not buy the game if you expect something decent... What exactly did you expect?

Southern portion of map seem sparse these days?

I agree that it's a bit inconvenient to have the spawns along a small stretch of the coast, but I'm sure the devs have a good reason to do this. Spawns will change in the future. I traveled down the coast, South, then West, and I actually did run into people. Note that this was on a hardcore server. I never played HC until a while ago, took a while to get used to 1st P only, but it's true what they say, once you go HC, you never want to go back :D

Plan for release of 0.45 to Stable

Actually not, this is exactly what gaming-development is like. 99 setbacks, and then some victories, followed by 99 more setbacks... I'm super glad that the release of this patch to stable is being pushed back!

    Was I being a dick?

Hey guys, I just want your opinion on this: I have a little under 160 hours into the game and recently started playing on hardcore servers. I try to play friendly towards people, and try to completely avoid KoS behavior. Today I traveled through Chernarus, not seeing a single soul. At some point I traveled back East to Berezino, to see if I could get some interactions, or find a shotgun. As I was looting around, doors were opened, someone might be here... Then I heard voices in the distance... I spotted two well geared players in a building, speaking on direct. I just ran towards them, greeting them: "Hey guys, are you friendly?" One of them immediately raised his pistol and aimed at me, foreseeing something like this I ran away. The guy was wearing a gas mask, I promised myself that I won't be nice to people wearing masks. While I hear a mix of English and Russian voices, not directed at me, I run around the building. Now it is important to note that I stashed my gear elsewhere, I only had pants on with a pistol and some rounds in it, I did not have my pistol out, so I must have appeared weaponless to those guys. As I come around the other side of the buildings I can still see the first guy aiming directly at the corner where I disappeared moments earlier. I decide to fire a few rounds at him with my FNX, he drops to the ground. I run back around, go inside and drop the second guy, in the meantime I can hear the fallen talk in Russian. I quickly grab a Mosin from one of the corpses and check out the rest of the building. There's someone on the top-floor. I run outside and drop a round in his body with my freshly acquired Mosin. When I check his body I notice that he's alive. He wakes up, I pull my pistol out. At this point I'm thinking that this guy might not be part of the group of Russians, which I just killed. I tell him to drop his weapon (he had a .22 in his hands) but he flees into a room, firing one round down the hallway. I negotiate a bit and he complies, puts his weapon away and bandages. While he's doing that I ask him who those guys were, he doesn't know them but says he thinks they were trying to get him. Then he asks me if I can give him a Saline bag. I tell him I'm willing to do so, but he has to come with me to a safer place. We run out of Berezino and talk a bit... He's a bit weird and starts complaining that I ruined his Jacket. I just saved his life lol :D In the forest I tell him to drop -all- his gear and then come to where I am standing, hopefully decreasing the chances of him betraying me (can people punch you or grab a weapon while you give them a salline IV? I just wanted to be sure). He complains for a while, asking me why I want him to do that. I tell him it's either that, or no IV for him. He eventually complies and I start the IV. At this point I'm really getting the feeling that I should not trust this guy, but all goes well.. When he gathers his gear again he takes a pistol out of his backpack. I raise mine immediately telling him in a forceful way to put the pistol away, now. He complies, says it was an accident. He asks me if we can go to the Airfield (NEAF), but I tell him that I'm going my own way. Then he starts asking me why I'm just ditching him hear and why I'm being so mean... I'm thinking to myself: "How am I mean to this guy, I probably saved his life earlier, gave him the IV, I don't think he ever even thanked me... Don't trust this guy" So I tell him I'm just gonna go now and run off. He follows me for a bit, so I raise my pistol at him, telling him to run the other way. He does, but after 50-100 m. of running I turn around and see him 50 m behind me in a treeline. I grab my mosin, look at him trough my scope and he raises his hand, like waving goodbye.... This was a real moment of dilemma, because I got the urge to just drop him right there, or maybe scare him away by taking a shot next to him... Before I make a decision he runs off. I continue running away, constantly checking my back. If I see this man at all, even looking in my general direction I'm going to end him. After this I didn't see him anymore. I gather the rest of my gear, run off and log out. Just thought I'd share my experience, wondering if I'm being too nice, or if I was being too aggressive shooting the 2 guys.. Opinions?

    Was I being a dick?

Thanks! I might do some recordings in the future, but I don't have a suitable pc for that right now, and I think my voice/English is too annoying for the listener. I also think I'm not skilled enough to provide people with entertaining vids. But most of all; I don't want to do the same thing that everybody else is doing. If it's not going to be unique, I'm not doing it :D While leaving Berezino for a safer location to give him the IV, we talked a bit about perhaps heading to the airfield together to loot. But I made up my mind pretty quickly that him and I were going to have to head separate ways. Thanks for the nice words! Yea I don't think I've ever had an encounter like this, which might be the reason why I could not get a grasp on how I behaved

    Was I being a dick?

It's so hard to judge myself, especially because DayZ doesn't allow you to make yourself a cup of tea, then sip your tea while thinking about what to do in a certain situation. NOT making a decision will surely get you killed, huge part of why I LOVE it :D EDIT: Small question, when can I safely give someone a saline IV? How can I be sure I won't be betrayed and punched to death?
  20. Hey guys, is it know that glitch abusers now are able to camp the apartments and shoot through the walls off the next apartment, like the guys hiding in the jails... ? I really don't mind dying, but I do mind these dicks ruining the game -_- I'm hoping these issues will be solved eventually, but the issues have to be known in order to get fixes ;)
  21. toasted duckie

Glitch abusers have found their way into the appartments now..

Off course it's still a problem, according to your reasoning I could just stay in the server screen, then stuff like this wouldn't be a problem? ;)
  22. toasted duckie

Glitch abusers have found their way into the appartments now..

My question hasn´t been answered.. I´m not asking: "WHY IS THIS NOT FIXED?!" I'm merely asking if the devs KNOW about these things :)
  23. Both TF2 and CS:S find their origin as being a mod, so I'm just going to repeat myself here to once again stress the value of having modding and a modding community. I play CS:S now and then, I enjoy to hop on so-called gun-game servers then. Guess what, those are modded gametypes, so for me, modding CS:S brought something enjoyable. TF2 I don't play anymore, so I wouldn't know.
  24. How would it limit your experience if, instead of having a small chance of running into any of the 2 mil players, you only have the chance of running into, lets say... 1.8 or 1.6 mil players? I doubt you will notice the difference. Why not allow for people to go to that private party you are on about. Remember that there can also be a shared hive between x servers. Modding is imo what has made PC-gaming PC gaming. Without it we would have had to miss out on so much in the past, and will have to miss out on so much in the future.
  25. I think you've greatly underestimating the value of modding. If it wasn't for modding, DayZ would have never been build in the first place. I don't see a problem with private hives, as long as they are indeed private. Why would you care if people do something else outside of your playing scope? I just hope there are enough vanilla servers left and some private ones, so everyone can be happy? To the OP: I honestly don't see how having private hives would affect your gameplay experience. Also, I get a feeling of you being somewhat condescending towards players who want 'something else' :(
