You need to have a reason before shooting someone, unless you find yourself looting rare items and you see another player headed your way. If you're in danger in any way, it is allowed to KOS (1)No shooting fresh spawns (people with patrol pack and no weapons) on the shore. They are as follows: Admins: - Jakobb987 - D1NGOR Rules explained: (1) Shooting a person on sight even if they have no weapons can be allowed to in certain situations. An example: if you see a player without a gun carrying a patrol pack (the one you spawn with) about to head into a military loot spawn, you're allowed to shoot because they could find a gun inside the loot spawn and come back out to kill you. Basically, killing a player is not allowed if the player is no threat to you. If you play like a bandit it is never allowed to kill on sight if you're not in danger, but you're free to hold up and rob a player if you want. That player is allowed to refuse to hand the bandit their items, and attempt to kill the bandit. (2) If you see a person without a gun carrying a patrol pack (the one you spawn with) on the shore, you're not allowed to shoot. Chances are the player just spawned not even 5 minutes ago, and had no chance of finding a weapon to defend themselves. There's not really a point in shooting that player anyway, because you lose ammo and only gain items the person spawns with. Abusing this rule in any way will lead to a warning and a kick. (3) Camping a high value loot spawn from a distance is not allowed. If you know a player is inside looting the items you want, you're free to rob that player and take his stuff. If you camp a loot spawn just to kill people, you don't belong on our server. Take it to another server, maybe even a PvP one. (4) Shooting a player for no reason other than getting their loot shows you don't belong on our server. We want player interaction and want to make gameplay fair for most people, by forcing people to play like it was real life. We want you to think: "What if this was real life, I was about to kill a real person to take his stuff? Would I actually have the guts to do it?" and enjoy the game to its fullest like it was intended. (5) If you have a base or hideout of some sort you are not allowed to for example have two urals or two helicopters, because what is the point in having two helicopters when you're alone? You can't fly both of them anyway and there's many other ways of storing loot than in vehicles, since we are playing Epoch. Gather the required items for a tent and use that instead. It's both smaller and more camouflaged than a huge helicopter. They're also harder to steal from, since the thief would have to loot everything into their backpack and run off with as much as they can carry. A car would just be entered and driven off. If you're teamed up with another player, you can obviously have two urals and two helicopters if you're so lucky to find that. (6) If you shoot a vehicle's tires out for no other reason than to make the game annoying for other people, that counts as being a douche. Generally, annoying other people or "trolling" them is not accepted on our server. We will not accept any form of trolling in a game like DayZ, because a lot of people spent hours working on something, and we know that seeing the thing you worked hard for being taken from you for no reason, is a real moodkiller. If you troll other people, expect to be trolled back or in some cases banned, depending how significant the troll was.
  3. We're also adding a script that improves AI. Edit: Ran into more problems... gosh darn it. Server is up and running, but without scripts until we get it sorted out. You need to download Taviana (dayztaviana.com) and add launch perimeters in your DayZ launcher settings. They are as follows: -mod=@Taviana
  4. We've decided to change the map to Taviana. At the moment we are working on adding as many of our old scripts if they're compatible, so the server will be back up in a bit.
  5. We're hoping to be online most of the weekend, so come join the fun! It would be great to get some active members on the server. We've also been discussing another map change, this time to Taviana. This time we are sure it will not be incompatible, so if people think changing to Taviana is a good idea, please respond to this post with your feedback. Thanks!
  6. Added a poll about a map change. The server is not very populated and active, so we thought changing from the old Chernarus to another more interesting map would spice things up, and make the server more interesting. Edit: deleted poll due to incompatibilities between Epoch and different maps, may attempt to make the maps compatible with Epoch at a later date.
  7. More updates to the original post. I added an explanation to most of the rules that aren't completely clear.

  10. Updated layout of original forum post. We're currently working on a seperate forum to have more categorized discussions. Will not share the link yet though, as it is still very much a work in progress. A few players have been online the last couple of days, and I'm hoping to get some constructive feedback from them. Hopefully they check this post from time to time. Anyway, the server seems to be working quite well. The next few days I will spend most of my free time on adding plugins such as towing/lifting, self-bloodbag, godmode in trader cities, full moon nights and other.
