Status Report 7 November 2017
blackberrygoo replied to Baty Alquawen's topic in News & Announcements
status report for this week ? -
I agree that the game is probably In it’s most boring state right now , which is incredibly ironic due to all the years that we actually had fun playing this game- and how all the beautiful tech came in right when it got boring . Unfortunately the novelty has worn off after 4 years of playing the crap out of this game . Now all me and my squad do is hang around the most populous areas so we can get some cheap and easy pvp in . We need hordes of zombies that aren’t so easy or boring to kill, we need base building , barricading and electrical generators so we can restart towns and take over territory creating new community’s and new rules for all the towns of chernarus . We need new player controller and animation system so the game doesn’t feel clunky, and for fucks sake we desperately need a better cle because this one is really piss poor : multiple guns sitting on top of each other in towns that are barely touched due to them being completely empty of loot for literal real life days , but then going through a half dozen towns to only find a couple pairs of pants , multiple inches of rain and nothing to do but freeze everytime you aren’t in front of a fire . Oh and can we talk about how bullshit making / placing fires are now ? “It’s not safe here “ “went out cuz of the wind” — are you serious ? It’s unsafe to make a fire on a concrete surface inside of a massive hangar with no wood structures ? What a joke , I’m inside a shed with no windows yet the wind is making the fire go out ? Yes we all know that the beta is “right around the corner” but It definitely doesn’t make this .62 patch any less boring , in fact like I said above .62 is by FAR the most boring patch we have ever had . Devs just move the fuck on - whatever you are waiting for is defly not justified, just push it out to experimental, we no longer support your ulterior motives for holding off a perfectly suitable experimental release - whatever it is swallow your pride (or your hidden opportunities) and let us help you fix it for Fucks sake ! Almost a half a year on ONE PATCH !

For those complaining about the development time of DayZ
blackberrygoo replied to Guy Smiley's topic in General Discussion
It makes sense ; he’s waiting to play the game when it’s in a complete state . I have to agree that it’s maddening waiting for the game , but honestly it’s even worse playing it ... getting frustrated at the state of the game day after day because all you want to do is have fun but most of the time all you can do is loot and rp with those that don’t shoot on sight . Its literally killing me and others (sorry 2 dudes at NWAF on the DUG US server , but you shouldn’t have shot at my silly loot whore friends) waiting for the full game to come , right now I’m just looting for as long as I can bear and when I encounter other players it’s an instant shootout - it’s like the whole community has lost hope and fell back into the COD shooter mindset (which I truly believed was going away when dayz was on a roll before the .61/.62 patch debauchery). Long story short , when soft skills , advanced cooking , electricity and basebuilding comes in this game will change for the better and will finally feel like it’s worth playing the time it takes to get that little bit of fun via encounters of any kind , but until then i can safely say that it hurts to wAit for dayz but it also hurts to play the damn game unless you get lucky with some fun fights like I did tonight . Give .63 now please , no more waiting . Oh ya and Aug Steyr is OP . -
Inventory wipe of all players carrying unreleased items
blackberrygoo replied to Baty Alquawen's topic in News & Announcements
So in other words , m249 scheduled release is with .63 ? That would be awesome . -
October 26th will mark 5 months of having .62 On stable ..... not very inspiring to see each patch 5-10 months apart on average . Can’t wait for the final product but some hibernation is necessary to not go fucking insane waiting for the game to be interesting again .
-
Funny thing that you won't admit : official servers are just as bad as unofficial publics . Lots of loot disappearing , lots of server outages . No thanks , I'll stick to a private server .
-
In the next patch ? Hahahahaha you're so funny . Try like 6 months or so. Not much news lately , we knew base building was coming with beta , same with modding . I'm very disappointed that we missed a status report for this "demo".

DayZ Standalone Base Building is almost here! How do you plan to use it?
blackberrygoo replied to DR. IRISHMIKE's topic in General Discussion
Lol . Nice analogy man - you seem to be completely infatuated with this game and will defend it no matter what , I guess I can understand that ... Ignorance must be bliss. I'll be back to play the forum game closer to beta which should be "soon" . -
Looks like baker is looking for people to tell him to play again , and not the opposite . You can see his bias through the beans he gives - anyone with a response related to not playing again recieves none , anyone with a cheery fan response receives beans . why did you even create this thread there bud ? It's clear what you want to do .

DayZ Standalone Base Building is almost here! How do you plan to use it?
blackberrygoo replied to DR. IRISHMIKE's topic in General Discussion
No the devs screwed their priorities because they are perfectionists (positive assumption) or they just love making publicity at those silly ass game shows which made them complacent (negative but more realistic assumption). The devs adamantly stated so many times that all the features would be in BEFORE BETA , now they go back on their word because of game show greed . Well done devvies , well done . Base building is still planned btw - devs just screwed us with the timing of the implementation ... i was so disappointed in them when I heard Hicks first announce that , it's literally the one thing I saw as still truthful regardless of all the setbacks ... in spite of all the delays I still had hope that when beta arrived we would all be flying choppers and building / raiding bases , I guess we'll have to wait months , maybe even a half a year AFTER the start of beta to simply play with the mechanics that should have been here long before those two massive graphic overhauls ! a 2-3 year development cycle is slowly turning into a 3.5 -4.5 year cycle , 1 and a half years delay when the game will finally be feature complete I'm guessing - it's typical for games to be delayed but it's not like dayz doesn't have bug crushing help . A year or more of delays just seems like a ridiculous amount for a game of such small scope (we haven't even seen half of the mechanics together , yet they are just going to work as soon as they are snapped into place with the new engine? Doubtful , I'm guessing we're in for a long disappointing beta ride ). -
Agreed . Not much in the game ATM besides some eye and ear candy - aside from that the game hasn't changed in any major way that a non-daily player would care about . Wait for .63 (or possibly even further , as it seems .63 won't even have the features we are all looking forward to) although it will include the new player controller and animation system , which should be fun maybe ...

"Base building almost here " - Irish; 2016 .... it is now the year 2027 , the apes have taken over mostly everything yet dayz is still in .... alpha ??!? -
Back to DayZ standalone after 3 years - thoughts
blackberrygoo replied to libertine's topic in General Discussion
Ya it's pretty fucking boring to be honest . I can see why someone (OP) who's been out of the loop for 3 years could be pretty upset at the state of the game . Sure it looks and sounds great , but damn we need the mechanics that were promised 3.5 years ago .... base building , barricading , advanced vehicles , birds to hunt , soft skills , new animations , bears , electricity and the generators , zombies bashing in doors and windows, weed / alcohol / cigarettes (all shown in completed trello pictures over the past few years) and that's just to scratch the surface . When we get all of that we can truly have fun in dayz - but until then it's apple picking , kill everyone with a better weapon simulator . -
.62 is great. Random Chainsaw and heli crash questions
blackberrygoo replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Actually they won't lol . Devs have stated they won't ever make the heli crash visibly like in the mod again - due to too many resources needed to load in all the heli crashes , and honestly besides the heli exploding there's really no way it can just disappear logically . -
I don't believe now is the turning point . Too much fluff and not enough , well , turning . The animation and new player controller is just taking far too long , I say this based off of the initial 3 roadmaps , all planning on having all of the features for the game in by beta - obviously those marks have been missed and that's ok I suppose but it has created a stagnant feeling for dayz IMO . When they finally manage to push out the new animation and player controller systems maybe that will be the "turning point" as we will be much closer to seeing some of the mechanics we have been long waiting for , but right now I have to say we are in a stagnant period of nothing but fluff to keep us strung along so to speak . The interactions of dayz are great , but with such a spread out map now (lots of points of interest) the game feels dull and empty after so many years of running around the map doing nothing but legit waiting for better days(z). I used to be able to put in 10 hours a day to this game , but the novelty has worn off and after all these years of waiting for something better to evolve out of this old carcass , I believe I have burnt out and cannot even put in 2 hours on a day off as I just get more satisfaction out of almost anything now adays . i can't wait to see the game complete , hell I can't wait to see the condition of the first "beta" patch , but that's likely still another 6 months or so away , so any excitement I may have is quickly destroyed by realistic expectations based off of dayzs patching history .
-
Then why push off all of their beta priorities for multiple graphic / audio patches that could have been pushed after beta release ? They were working with a clear , concise goal during the first 3 years but I feel like their priorities went bad somewhere along the 3rd to current year ; they fell behind and felt bad that it happened so they threw some graphical patches at us that they probably weren't even planning on pushing before beta , that's my opinion that forms the idea of their priorities being backwards , but again it's my opinion . At least the games still patching , but to anyone else outside the loop of dayz development the game looks like it is ignoring its ultimate goal of reaching beta and eventually 1.0 , and For those in the loop of development we are either waiting for better patches or playing in some infatuated manner mostly tied to relaxing solo adventures or play sessions with friends that are really enjoyable because of those we play with , not the game itself . Honeymoon phase has died for most of us with dayz , now we are waiting for that "after therapy" phase where we can feel like we love each other again ....
-
Haven't tried driving vehicles yet , most likely not my rig .... it's easy to tell when before the patch I had 45-60 fps in towns and now it's down to ~ 30 fps everywhere except the woods .. clearly plenty of optimization to be had with the new lighting and such , I'm not going to complain too hard due to the fact that I'm not really playing dayz like I used to ; it just doesn't have much to it still and isn't enjoyable with even less frames . I can't wait until .63 debuts and brings some content with all this fancy eye candy .
-
I have to agree with him , the fps is garbage compared to .61 . Sure it looks nice , but I want playability before good looks , I guess the devs think the exact opposite way .

lol wut? Hiding in a tree is painful ? Not sure if you've spent enough time outside !
-
Preeeetty sure that steam ids don't show up in the freaking debug monitor when someone hits you - that would be an awkward invasion of privacy .
-
Lol , it's the same shit week after week after week , can you really blame them? Dayz devs like to talk so much that everyone listens , but only for so long becuase we know that most of the info is either going to take another year to become reality and they will talk about it every damn status report they get , or that it won't happen at all and plans will Change completely (like how they now want to redo the audio completely - which is NOT necessary and just puts us further away from beta) . dayz devs did it right at the start, but now they are just stalling - for what I do not know .
-
Be obsessed with the game all you want : I went through that phase and can tell you there's far better things (other games included) to spend your time on . When dayz is fully released you have my permission to go full fan boy, but right now it's just as hard defending dayz as it is defending the neo nazis freedom of speech .
-
lol the helicopter ? Haven't you heard ? The devs aren't pushing anything interesting until after beta , the most we will get at this rate is the new animation and player controller (in its most bare bones form) for .63 beta . .62 will hold nothing new except visuals and audio . A purely disappointing time for dayz fans , nothing but regurgitated reptitiveness from the devs on these status reports . I have 2k hours logged in dayz but I've stopped dead in my tracks due to this game being nothing but a repetitive time sink of desyncy zombies , vehicles and decent pvp - too bad there's plenty of other games out there with decent pvp and better overall fluid play , as dayz in this state just isn't fun compared to the plethora of other games that have spawned in the time dayz has been in this grey state limbo . I never questioned the devs until now , and to be honest I think they fucked up bad in the past year of development ; somewhere along these lines they slowed their workpace to a crawl , wether it be due to challenging code that couldn't be worked out quickly enough or too much publicity outings I'm not sure , but what I am sure of is that many people have lost the itch for dayz , and that itch won't come back until the devs give us the product we have all been waiting for for almost threee and a half years now .
-
I agree man . They are greying the lines of alpha / beta to make up for the small , small , SMALL amount of progress they have made in the past year . I'm so disappointed at their decision I can't even express it enough . Once we were told the end of 2016 we would see beta and now we aren't even going to see a FEATURE COMPLETE (what they told us all this time) beta at the end of 2017 - probably even longer due to the slow crawl they are at , which IMO is due to their obsessive need to put themselves at every game convention to get more publicity for their upcoming beta . the devs have changed their tune , they are still transparent but they are now IMO taking the worst route of addressing the beta , they messed up and are now making the community pay by screwing Us with this poor version of .61/.62 (which we now know won't have anything new besides sound) for another 6-8 months .... Highly disappointed :( - hopefully some of you can enjoy dayz as it is now , but me and all of my steam friends / squad mates cannot .
