DayZ Standalone Base Building is almost here! How do you plan to use it?
blackberrygoo replied to DR. IRISHMIKE's topic in General Discussion
No the devs screwed their priorities because they are perfectionists (positive assumption) or they just love making publicity at those silly ass game shows which made them complacent (negative but more realistic assumption). The devs adamantly stated so many times that all the features would be in BEFORE BETA , now they go back on their word because of game show greed . Well done devvies , well done . Base building is still planned btw - devs just screwed us with the timing of the implementation ... i was so disappointed in them when I heard Hicks first announce that , it's literally the one thing I saw as still truthful regardless of all the setbacks ... in spite of all the delays I still had hope that when beta arrived we would all be flying choppers and building / raiding bases , I guess we'll have to wait months , maybe even a half a year AFTER the start of beta to simply play with the mechanics that should have been here long before those two massive graphic overhauls ! a 2-3 year development cycle is slowly turning into a 3.5 -4.5 year cycle , 1 and a half years delay when the game will finally be feature complete I'm guessing - it's typical for games to be delayed but it's not like dayz doesn't have bug crushing help . A year or more of delays just seems like a ridiculous amount for a game of such small scope (we haven't even seen half of the mechanics together , yet they are just going to work as soon as they are snapped into place with the new engine? Doubtful , I'm guessing we're in for a long disappointing beta ride ). -
Agreed . Not much in the game ATM besides some eye and ear candy - aside from that the game hasn't changed in any major way that a non-daily player would care about . Wait for .63 (or possibly even further , as it seems .63 won't even have the features we are all looking forward to) although it will include the new player controller and animation system , which should be fun maybe ...

"Base building almost here " - Irish; 2016 .... it is now the year 2027 , the apes have taken over mostly everything yet dayz is still in .... alpha ??!? -
Back to DayZ standalone after 3 years - thoughts
blackberrygoo replied to libertine's topic in General Discussion
Ya it's pretty fucking boring to be honest . I can see why someone (OP) who's been out of the loop for 3 years could be pretty upset at the state of the game . Sure it looks and sounds great , but damn we need the mechanics that were promised 3.5 years ago .... base building , barricading , advanced vehicles , birds to hunt , soft skills , new animations , bears , electricity and the generators , zombies bashing in doors and windows, weed / alcohol / cigarettes (all shown in completed trello pictures over the past few years) and that's just to scratch the surface . When we get all of that we can truly have fun in dayz - but until then it's apple picking , kill everyone with a better weapon simulator . -
.62 is great. Random Chainsaw and heli crash questions
blackberrygoo replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Actually they won't lol . Devs have stated they won't ever make the heli crash visibly like in the mod again - due to too many resources needed to load in all the heli crashes , and honestly besides the heli exploding there's really no way it can just disappear logically . -
I don't believe now is the turning point . Too much fluff and not enough , well , turning . The animation and new player controller is just taking far too long , I say this based off of the initial 3 roadmaps , all planning on having all of the features for the game in by beta - obviously those marks have been missed and that's ok I suppose but it has created a stagnant feeling for dayz IMO . When they finally manage to push out the new animation and player controller systems maybe that will be the "turning point" as we will be much closer to seeing some of the mechanics we have been long waiting for , but right now I have to say we are in a stagnant period of nothing but fluff to keep us strung along so to speak . The interactions of dayz are great , but with such a spread out map now (lots of points of interest) the game feels dull and empty after so many years of running around the map doing nothing but legit waiting for better days(z). I used to be able to put in 10 hours a day to this game , but the novelty has worn off and after all these years of waiting for something better to evolve out of this old carcass , I believe I have burnt out and cannot even put in 2 hours on a day off as I just get more satisfaction out of almost anything now adays . i can't wait to see the game complete , hell I can't wait to see the condition of the first "beta" patch , but that's likely still another 6 months or so away , so any excitement I may have is quickly destroyed by realistic expectations based off of dayzs patching history .
-
Then why push off all of their beta priorities for multiple graphic / audio patches that could have been pushed after beta release ? They were working with a clear , concise goal during the first 3 years but I feel like their priorities went bad somewhere along the 3rd to current year ; they fell behind and felt bad that it happened so they threw some graphical patches at us that they probably weren't even planning on pushing before beta , that's my opinion that forms the idea of their priorities being backwards , but again it's my opinion . At least the games still patching , but to anyone else outside the loop of dayz development the game looks like it is ignoring its ultimate goal of reaching beta and eventually 1.0 , and For those in the loop of development we are either waiting for better patches or playing in some infatuated manner mostly tied to relaxing solo adventures or play sessions with friends that are really enjoyable because of those we play with , not the game itself . Honeymoon phase has died for most of us with dayz , now we are waiting for that "after therapy" phase where we can feel like we love each other again ....
-
Haven't tried driving vehicles yet , most likely not my rig .... it's easy to tell when before the patch I had 45-60 fps in towns and now it's down to ~ 30 fps everywhere except the woods .. clearly plenty of optimization to be had with the new lighting and such , I'm not going to complain too hard due to the fact that I'm not really playing dayz like I used to ; it just doesn't have much to it still and isn't enjoyable with even less frames . I can't wait until .63 debuts and brings some content with all this fancy eye candy .
-
I have to agree with him , the fps is garbage compared to .61 . Sure it looks nice , but I want playability before good looks , I guess the devs think the exact opposite way .
-
Be obsessed with the game all you want : I went through that phase and can tell you there's far better things (other games included) to spend your time on . When dayz is fully released you have my permission to go full fan boy, but right now it's just as hard defending dayz as it is defending the neo nazis freedom of speech .
-
lol the helicopter ? Haven't you heard ? The devs aren't pushing anything interesting until after beta , the most we will get at this rate is the new animation and player controller (in its most bare bones form) for .63 beta . .62 will hold nothing new except visuals and audio . A purely disappointing time for dayz fans , nothing but regurgitated reptitiveness from the devs on these status reports . I have 2k hours logged in dayz but I've stopped dead in my tracks due to this game being nothing but a repetitive time sink of desyncy zombies , vehicles and decent pvp - too bad there's plenty of other games out there with decent pvp and better overall fluid play , as dayz in this state just isn't fun compared to the plethora of other games that have spawned in the time dayz has been in this grey state limbo . I never questioned the devs until now , and to be honest I think they fucked up bad in the past year of development ; somewhere along these lines they slowed their workpace to a crawl , wether it be due to challenging code that couldn't be worked out quickly enough or too much publicity outings I'm not sure , but what I am sure of is that many people have lost the itch for dayz , and that itch won't come back until the devs give us the product we have all been waiting for for almost threee and a half years now .
-
I agree man . They are greying the lines of alpha / beta to make up for the small , small , SMALL amount of progress they have made in the past year . I'm so disappointed at their decision I can't even express it enough . Once we were told the end of 2016 we would see beta and now we aren't even going to see a FEATURE COMPLETE (what they told us all this time) beta at the end of 2017 - probably even longer due to the slow crawl they are at , which IMO is due to their obsessive need to put themselves at every game convention to get more publicity for their upcoming beta . the devs have changed their tune , they are still transparent but they are now IMO taking the worst route of addressing the beta , they messed up and are now making the community pay by screwing Us with this poor version of .61/.62 (which we now know won't have anything new besides sound) for another 6-8 months .... Highly disappointed :( - hopefully some of you can enjoy dayz as it is now , but me and all of my steam friends / squad mates cannot .

blackberrygoo replied to Baty Alquawen's topic in News & Announcements
Wow ... guess I'm not playing this game until beta . Devs you were supposed to put in all this fancy shit (advanced vehicles , soft skills , base building , barricading , so on and so forth ) BEFORE THE BETA . Not after . I'm very disappointed to say the least . -
Need moar features in .62 plox
-
All that plus soft skills . Soft skills are going to be the real story creators!

[POLL] Old Chernogorsk vs New Chernogorsk
blackberrygoo replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I like the new Cherno - it looks like a real city instead of just a bunch of buildings hastily put together like in the mod / old cherno . The only Thing I miss is the city hall building in which you could climb the drainage pipe on the side , there was loot on top and it felt so cool to be up there !! -
Vehicle Desync - Will this be addressed soon?
blackberrygoo replied to Storymaster's topic in General Discussion
I'm not losing faith but I am starting to believe that the devs are stuck and can't go any further until something is solved - there seems to be a lot of roadblocks and it doesn't seem like they are progressing through it quickly at all due to this patch , .60 patch AND .59 patch have all been 3-6 month patches that really brought some good stuff to the table but not nearly enough to change the scope of the game . I want to be done with .61 - I'm tired of the game in its current state and I just can't accept how slow the devs are working due to the Regurgitated status reports and all the silly game expos and meetings they are attending - to me this is nowhere near their A game and I'm somewhat disappointed that the end is going even slower when technically it should be progressing much faster . -
Why does it still feel like im 'driving' a tank, instead of a dude wearing a t-shirt.
blackberrygoo replied to stilton's topic in General Discussion
Stilton controller support is not implemented yet , so it's a do at your own risk endeavor . If you want to make a controller work most of the time (depends on the patch) then use motioninjoys ds3 tool to activate the controller under a profile recognized by the game (usually Xbox 360 profile , sometimes you use PS3 profile depending on the patch) and to keybind each and every key to the controller you use Xpadder , a program that uses a bit map image of a PS3 controller and interactive shapes to create a layout of a controller which can then be filled with keybindings on your controller that correspond with the pc controls of the game . New player controller will help make the game feel more smooth , but I share your frustration at this point - the devs are repeating their status reports to a point that no new info has been given in months , they are out doing their fancy game expos and they say that they have all the old legacy systems ironed out of the game internally, but yet we sit in stale mate with these damn desync issues that are all related to these systems that just can't be removed from the public branches yet for some reason . At this state / speed I predict beta ending around April of 2018 , maybe the full game being released a few weeks after , but it definitely has stretched beyond anyone's imagination of a 2.5-3 year development cycle , and every week / month that passes by I lose more and more interest in the game due to it being stale in the state that it's in (vehicles back to stable was nice but short lived for me due to horrible desync) - there's only so many meaningful interactions you can squeeze out in the 2,000 hours I have under my belt and since I've done literally everything pve and exploration wise I'm starting to crave what the game has promised it will be for over 3.4 years now : base building, barricading , advanced vehicles , soft skills , new physics animation and player controllers , electricity , birds , bears, advanced crafting , advanced cooking , full controller support so on and so forth . Cant wait to see all these features and not be frustrated with this game anymore , but unfortunately that still seems pretty far off - here's to hoping the devs get back on the hard work tRain they had been on for the past 3 years - IMO they have been going ten times slower ever since the start of 2017 , they said that at this stage the patches would be fewer but with more content and breakthrough mechanics , so far that hasn't been the case at all :( . -
Still looking for all this , and : • base bullding • advanced vehicles • soft skills • birds • advanced cooking • advanced crafting I hope they can get this next major patch up and running in the next six months (preferably sooner) but as of right now all I can get enjoyment from is pvp , as I've already done everything there is to do 1,000 times over pve wise , so I unfortunately am in a spot of not desiring to play the game at all - due to its dream not being realized in time for me to "burn out" so to speak ... so I can't wait for .62 maybe it will provide a fresh dayz but so far from the devs words it looks like it won't be a whole lot different , oh well time to wait for the long run .63 style .
-
I have to agree , and in my opinion this .61 patch and all of it's issues have been getting neglected by the majority of the team so they can crunch for all the game expos coming up by working on their internal milestones (like .62 / .63) rather than their external (public branch starting with experimental). The devs are working hard like they always do , but I fear that they are focusing their energies on the future and not the here and now (like they have before .61 - working through each patch one at a time and only really having the internal patches be so far ahead , not having the team divided into working 4 different sectors of the game - .61 stable , .61 exp, .62 and .63 - which is what they are doing now and I truly believe that alone has stagnated the progress of .61). Patch .60 seemed to have lasted half a year , now .61 is struggling to move after almost 4 months , I fear for the release date at this point and all I can say is I appreciate the devs hard work but I hope they continue at their original pace (pre-.60) soon after pax east is done .

Why haven't more people liked this yet ?? You sir, are the Spider-Man of Dayz !

Will we be able to tame wolves, falcons or other animals?
blackberrygoo replied to Salty seadog's topic in General Discussion
Untrue , the developers and Hicks have stated many times that morphine will not be used as it is now when the advanced medical system comes in , im guessing it's already been worked on behind the scenes but the full implementation may start after the new player controller / animation system is implemented . morphin healing broken limbs is simply an old legacy mod placeholder ! -

This would be so awesome. It reminds me a lot of the classic resident evils ; there is always some locomotive you have to fix to get to safety. I would be the first locomotive operator / mechanic when soft skills come out XD -

Are helicopters still being added to SA?
blackberrygoo replied to djshauny1's topic in General Discussion
Yes , what makes you think they are no longer being added ?
