Do you guys like the locked doors idea?
blackberrygoo replied to sketch814's topic in General Discussion
That's why they should just make it so you can't log off or in a locked building , it slightly breaks immersion for a second but it's the only sensible solution to problems like that or the opposite ; kids who are sick of getting sniped by a sniper in a locked tower , the ones getting killed could try to log off outside and go on another server and log off in the tower where the sniper is but as soon as they log in to the server the snipers in they will find themselves respawned outside of the tower on the street somewhere close to it , that way the ONLY way to get into locked rooms is to destroy the lock or hack the doors down which is coming ... And I honestly would LOVE to see default locked doors with a 10-15 percent extra chance to spawn a gun or something valuable seeing as it's locked :) . It would just make for a good experience, not only would we be able to raid peoples locked bases but we could also find some houses as a fresh spawn that might not have any people inside just good loot but the thing is you have to find the tools to open it and take the risk of someone being in there (as you won't know the difference between a player locked house and a default locked house). -
In my opinion they set them to break very often to see the "my feet is sore" mechanic and if it works for everyone , basically a stress test.. My guess is that before the stable update well see maybe another experimental with more negative effects of feet being sore but with tweaked values of how Long they last for (hopefully).

How many did you actually kill ? I've been through elektro on stable and experimental and there's usually only about 10-15 in elektro .... Just kill them all with a melee and make sure to keep count ! Zeds pathfinding IS complete but there are many other facets of the zombies that play into how they work , like their sensors , the sensors I believe allow them to see us even when were behind closed doors or hidden well. So although pathfinding is done there are a couple of other things that need work and I must say the zombies don't run through doors and walls nearly as much as a couple months ago .

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist
blackberrygoo replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
Good idea ! But I have to say I feel as though this is already planned , every feature added is a placeholder generally so I'm not really expecting the lock picking to stay simple ... Glad to know you're adept at Lockpicking though :) . -
Honesty I have to agree with DAC , I hate campers and I hate their smug ass attitude when they tell everyone they just sit and camp waiting for a kill ... I mean you must be interested in pretty simple things if that gets you excited :P ... No offense to anyone who does camp as their only way of playing this game because it IS a real tactic., but in a real apocalypse I would NOT BE CAUGHT DEAD sitting in one area for more than a day or so , and for these campers that do this in game , they more than likely stay in the same spot like next to the NW airfield and camp for 3-5 hours til they get bored , then they rinse and repeat the next day, which for me creates a completely unrealistic play: survivor one : "should we go into the NW airfield?" Survivor 2: " no because were guaranteed to meet a camper coward , let's just skip it because we almost 100% know there is one " ... Ya not my idea of fun but hey to each his own , i play cautiously friendly when I'm alone never trusting anyone til I really get a good feeling about them , and I haven't succumbed to a KOSer/camper in over a few months , all the while running anywhere I want (airfields) on 20-40 player servers, mostly because I'm usually hidden and get the drop on other players and this is where my confessions come in : Whenever I'm alone I'm a glorious bandit killing hero known from novodomitrovsk all the way down to kamenka , many children and women speak of the great deeds Grapefruit has done , men fear and respect him and all Bambi's prosper under my guidance ... Many Bambi's try to kill me after helping them to which I reply to them with an axe to their legs , leaving them where they tried to betray .. But low and behold that's not my confession but this is ... When I'm not lone wolfing hero-style saving the world , I'm playing with my friend Ster Comma Lau the Vengeful Bandit of the West , playing as my alter ego "Lemonberry Slush" I role play a confused bandit who never knows If he wants to make an unjustified kill or not ... I'll say to the wicked bandit of the west "should we kill this guy ? He only has like a moisin ?" While I ask this my tutor of death and destruction is already lining up his shot ... Lol needless to say when I'm playing my alter ego I'm very subject to peer pressure, but when I'm in a right state of mind I play as my hero and save the world .. And sometimes we play a good cop/ bad cop scenario , where I'm playing as grapefruit the hero and he as Ster comma Lau the bandit of the west , it creates a very well balanced play seeing as I look out for the good guys and he kills all the bad guys :) (and some good guys lol !). Long story short : we ALL have confessions as we ALL have to kill once in a while , but take it from these confessions (as many confessed to being camping KOS deuchers lol) and try NOT TO rack up these confessions lol because the more bad you do the easier it is for someone like me to sniff out your BS when I start talking to you .. And for those "elite" campers , I'm sure I'll never meet you as I don't play on 3rd person servers XD !

I like the whole jamming and cleaning idea , I agree with Paulie though that it shouldn't jam that often BUT I love the idea of guns jamming so I do believe guns should degrade in quality after LOTS of use (or from being thrown or dropped a lot) which I think is planned , so that badly damaged and damaged guns have like a 25-33% chance of jamming when being used in rapid succession or something like that ?

Seriously people will be fighting over the first one found so hard , lol I can see it now ; a camp of 5 men , 3 protecting a broken down v3s while the other two scour the entire city for an engine part lol so sweet .
-
Read the quote above you man , lol , no sense in getting angry at something that's gonna change very soon !! A few Keywords for all of you that DONT understand : TESTING PURPOSES, DATA COLLECTING , but what chain said hit the nail on the head : it's the first iteration and they need to see the affects of running with broken or ruined shoes . Plain and simple . It's not to spite you guys lol !
-
Can't wait for these : Door state Persistance Injured character Damaged and destruct textures Animal companions Large tent ! Aug steyr And finally implementation of v3s , whenever you come you beautiful beast , I will find you .
-
Ya I'd personally rather fight over a vehicle rather than an Item .. Imagine how hard it's gonna be to attack a clan for their car battery that they could have hidden on some other server making it impossible for you to get it ... So having cars rare and parts semi rare is the best way to go , I know it sounds like it's going to be hard seeing as there will only be ten per server but remember you CANNOT server hop with a vehicle so server hoppers will ONLY be looking(and hopping) for parts and weapons so if those parts are more rare than what dayZ devs want them to be , then server hopping will run rampant (think of how many people server hop for Smersh vests or grenades just because they are super crazy rare ) .
-
Hmmm I wonder when the next status report will come ? I can't wait for those paragraphs of joy and excitement :) gimme moar content plox !
-
So cool.. You know I'm kinda embarrassed to admit this but I used to play warZ before I found the dayz mod , and I have to say I loved how people traded rare items on the forums so having a whole site dedicated to dayz trading is just awesomely amazing . I can't wait to see car parts on that list :) ! Good work tullsy.
-
Wow . Are we close to modding yet lol ? I've seen this one and a trading website made by a forum member , both simple yet great ideas .. I'll probably download this later :) no work today ;)

Ham sandwich I'm sorry but this game cannot cater to people who only play an hour a week .. If you don't want your base to be raided choose a low pop server , eventually I'm sure the ghosting problem will be solved by having it so people can't spawn into barricaded or player built structures they would instead spawn directly outside of it ... Not too bad of an answer sure it breaks realism a little bit but it's much better than people losing all of their hard earned work to someone that has more interest in playing !
-
Hmmm well in my opinion the devs will never add an AI that guards your stuff after logging off . Also for the claiming idea it's ok for people not building on your area while you're logged off but I believe your overlooking how hard it's going to be toget into someone's base ... There was once upon a time a long lost forgotten mod called dayz aftermath , it was as close to the standalone as any mod had gotten and it's base raiding mechanic was like this : the person who built the base (or barricaded an existing building) could build walls around it as well (wooden which can upgrade five times, the fourth upgrade you need to add a lock for extra protection , then metal walls with three upgrades , the last one with a lock) the raider would need a sledgehammer a pick axe, a toolbox (and if they wanted to try to take it down but risk breaking things behind it was to use a hand grenade which worked to destroy walls in this mod ) and the process took a while (30-45 mins for a fully upgraded locked gate, about ten or less for a first level gate) and there was always a random chance to snap your sledgehammer in this process also your toolbox would be rendered useless after every 3 or so failed attempts (slegdehammer breaking) . So long story short it was NOT easy to break into someone's base in this mod , and I believe standalone will do it even better .. We will have traps, pet dogs (I believe) that might stay when we log off to protect things(doubtful though) , and not to mention the strong walls, locks or gates that they will add that we may be able to construct! So for people who really only play a couple hours a week you'd still need to take the time to fortify your base once in a while and of course you will get broken into once in a while by a master lock picker :) but all in all I think it will work much better than rust . And besides chernarus is much bigger than the rust world I believe !

I really like this thermos idea , I think we should definitely have teas that have different therapeutic effects so we can use them as some type of trading currency, and maybe also hot cocoa ,'it would be delicious and quench your thirst while also being a type of currency item people trade because it brings up internal body temp if kept warm in a special thermos after being heated up so you don't have to light a fire ten mins down the road :) !

Although these third world countries are indeed used to some pathogens in their water , it does not make them invincible ... They still have frequent stomach cramps and diarrhea , probably throwing up and fevers occasionally if they drink from a really stagnant lake .. So us survivors would hardly get used to it , id say if you chose to drink out of polluted rivers you'd have the smallest chance to get a disease (but it should still be a 25% chance or so) seeing as rivers are moving and naturally a little more sanitized , but if you were to drink out of a pond or lake your character should get very sick to the point of throwing up and maybe even get weaker so that he can't run until he heals from it . Although it would be tough for freshspawns it would be more realsitic because like said before people like in Mexico are used to the small pathogens in water that make you have upset stomachs and such but when they drink from a water source with a pathogen their body is not used to (which can happen to anyone no matter how native they are to the polluted area) they will get flu-like sick for at least a short time .

Shotguns, reloading internal magazines, and Chainsaw / power-tools?
blackberrygoo replied to KnoXy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
You'll be happy to know there's a new shotgun (the baikal mp-133) in the new experimental version ! But i would love to see a saiga in game :) -
Almost everything on this list has been talked about and I'm pretty sure most of the "realism" suggestions have already been approved . I know for a fact searchable containers (cupboards and such) are coming as soon as optimization is better , you will never see the ability to use crossbow bolts in a homemade bow because a bolt is much shorter and thicker (meaning you'd need a bigger bow to shoot the heavy bolt far , but then with a bigger bow the bolt would be too short !) . More realistic night time settings (not being able to change gamma in game) has been thoroughly talked about and I'm sure a unique answer to this question will be made by the devs as they usually devise their own plan on how to tackle common problems like that.. The sunglasses and combining of matches are a huge thing I've wondered about and many have suggested , I don't know the devs stance on combining matches but I'm almost 100% positive that he (rocket) talked about sunglasses and their realistic uses in the future .. Rain affecting your screen is now in the experimental branch so if snow does appear in the game im sure it would affect your screen as well . Fires will soon have timers now that we can make fires without logs (on the experimental branch we can make a fire by putting sticks into a fireplace kit instead of needing a log) so in other woods it's too easy to make fires in experimental right now so I know they are going to add timers soon .. I would love to see the ability to roll up our sleeves to keep cool when were overheating and can't take off our shirt :) . I love your idea of black backpacks though , I rock all black all the time as well so I need a black backpack but everyone thinks it's a bad idea for some reason ! Maybe a Black taloon backpack ?
-
Found two on an experimental server last night ;) ! But I like this idea , at first ,before I saw how big the fireaxe was on your back , I was going to totally disagree with you but it does make sense and would be better for realism purposes ... But I like the crafting mini hatchet idea and I think they should also have a "craft sling" mechanic so we can make those magical floating weapons have a place to be held if we don't have the tools to cut them down in size :) !

This actually happens to me on my 64 bit windows 7 on my digital storm .. But it only happens when I log in for a minute or so , but it does it everytime I log in , things slowly start to load in but i can see through the damn walls floors and ceiling lol ! I've seen a number of people in buildings next to me when this happens :O

If you have bad fps you run slower , it's not meant to happen like that but since the game is not optimized players speed is dependent on client fps which would be your fps ... But if you have a good computer it could be server Desync pulling you back? But even at full sprint zombies do not catch up to me so it seems to me just like my friends computer that your fps is bad causing you to run slower .. Also make sure you're not crouched !

I have had hundreds of interactions with stranger friendlies , and only about 30 encounters that turned "sour" so to speak after approaching And talking to a so called "friendly"(of course I've had at least 100 encounters where someone just shoots without me seein them or them saying anything first but that's just dayz and as long as you run for cover you should be good) . But honestly don't listen to the PVP addicts like Heav , they just sit on top of towers and wait for people to come by so they can get a quick easy kill . Be like the many of us strong survivors (hero or not) that have so much more fun finding other people and talking with them and doing things with them .. Sometimes you almost (or do get) betrayed but as Long as your smart, suspicious of anyone, and careful you will make it out alive ! So when you see someone next yell to them either "you friendly ? Put your weapon down if so or lay on the ground otherwise I'll be forced to shoot " or "put your fucking hands up bro I'll blast you" lol the ladder seems to get more aggressive "fuck you bro" responses (however if you're super aggressive people sometimes just get scared and listen) so I usually use the first one : simple suggestion that if they don't stop what they are doing I will shoot , it's worked for me over 100 times now , after I strip the player of his ammo I trade with him and talk to him until I feel unsafe again and go on the move but I'm a lone wolf most of the time so three out of five times I don't ask to buddy up with the newly met freindly but regardless of that would you rather just shoot some dude you see and have one second of adrenaline or would you rather meet with a potentially great survivor who could help you out but will definitely provide an exciting moment for longer than just killing the guy would .
