Containers have been in talks for a long time , it's just a matter of getting servers optimized enough to have zombies. people, loot and vehicles along with "world containers" like fridges being accessible or stacks of wood being able to be taken ... It's gonna be a whole new game when were able to do that ..

Good Idea mate , this will really show some people that are losing faith in the friendly aspect of this game ... I meet friendlies all the time so the dream is alive for me , I can usually tell when someone's trying to hide something or is planning something conniving so unless I get that vibe I talk to anyone in hopes they are friendly . Moving around at all times if out in the open and telling the other person to back off or you'll shoot if they are getting too close .. It's all about communication but sometimes people just wanna kill so you gotta stay frosty and quick in case they don't wanna communicate :) ! Keep it going atre maybe I'll cross your path one day and we may help each other lol .

Lol rocket , he's such a Myth to us "regulars" but to devs/mods he's just a guy ... Give us dean hall , hicks and maybe torchias in game as well so we may search every server for their names ? ;)

^ thanks hicks .... I honestly have no idea why people think persistence is a problem , I love dropping my stuff down and coming back hours later to see it's still there . The pure PVPers (ones who believe progress towards survival aspects shouldn't happen) will eventually quit when this game is at it's final product, actually having to SURVIVE instead of attacking a newly spawned person who was lucky enough to find a gun and a backpack (don't deny that pvp lovers cuz all of you openly admit to killing ANYONE with a gun and backpack, as if it quells your guilt for killing fresh spawns , yeah right ...) So these persistence haters/hardcore PVPers will soon either quit because it's too "hard for them" (except for harteman , he "powers through gaming" or whatever he said lawl) , or love persistence as much as I do when all the kinks are worked out and item degradation comes in! That's no insult that's just the truth seeing as the worries of these guys seem to be something that can only hinder the progress of the standalone, it's like they would rather just go back to the mod and have no progress towards a better game , which by all means if they are looking for a pvp fest disguised as a survival sim then go play one of arma 3's "zombie survival" mods .

Baby tree ent lol , but seriously I can't wait until this game is optimized , grass will be MANDATORY for every computer at every distance ... We will no longer be "baby tree ents" !!

Probs the best info you need to know for this game ^^ My cousin just bought a brand new computer with an I7 processor at 4.0 ghz and he can hardly get 30 fps with a great graphics card, my rig runs at all times above 30 and to 60 fps(unless in novo on a full server) and I have an i5-3570K , which Is about a year OLDER than my cousins ... So even if you're torn to buy an I7 ,I would say stick with a late generation i5 as they seem to have a lot more power for this game at least ...

Yes I can't wait until the gas mask has a real purpose , imagine wielding a couple of tear gas grenades and a gas mask , bein the only person not passing out in a building that you just threw the grenades into ... It would be so badass, but of course when you wear the mask in first person you have to sacrifice a little visibility, and gettin through all the smoke will be a huge trip lol but it would be so awesome to be able to purge a building of a clan because they have no gas masks and you have tear gas :)

I think it's actually the more underplayed/underrated "Matt Lightfoot" character ... Lol I want more devs as characters, maybe give us Brian hicks so the Americans can play as an American (sounding ? Or is he ?) character ! ;)

I think this is a great feature because it adds an element of horror into the game .. Also , suicide is going to be added soon and even though that's an extremely sensitive issue as well , it will provide someone a way out if he's captured by a cannibal tribe (slit throat with a knife) .. Even if suicide doesn't do it for you I believe peoples need to eat others will be balanced out by diseases that will most likely kill you off quicker than most bandits will be able to handle (in my opinion they should add a disease that kills the heart or brain quickly due to inflammation unless you consume a bunch of antibiotics, and this would happen 60-70% of the time when you eat cooked human meat .. So even If you were to survive with a constant supply of antibiotics you would have the shakes from eating human meat). Also coming up to a campfire with another survivor cooking at it (which most of us have experienced in our DayZ lives ) would be the most terrifying thing ever , getting offered meat and realizing after having a funny taste in your mouth that your new friend is a Cannibal ... Spooky :) !

It's weird but I tend to stay on the north eastern part of the map, mostly because I love novodomitrovsk and the chernarussian trail that leads to the northwestern airfield by way of severograd (my second favorite city) .. But now that I've been to the new towns up north west (near the area of toploniki) I think I will make my new base there , preferably in toploniki cuz it's a cool ass city and close to the NW airfield so it's always action or loot packed !

I refuse to provide screenshots lol ... But me and a friend found a heli crash at the northwest air field just two days ago on .50 stable .... Nothing was in it besides a pair of gloves and a chemlight .. They are even more rare than before and I believe the loot on the heli crashes are now even more rare as well .. Next crash I find I will post a screenshot ... This was found on a first person sever by the way , and it's been my only heli crash site found in a month .

Oh it wasn't elaborate , took me a few minutes but I always want to help controller users :) but like I said use one of the controllers I'm using (wired xbox 360 or ps3 ) and you won't have to disable your controller in order for it to work in game ;) .

Yes that is correct , apparently tents can be put into mountain backpacks so you don't need to worry. Just find out which stuff you wanna keep and what you wanna ditch .

I have TWO ideas i want to explore and develop when Dayz Standalone allows modding... Ill only give one hint as i don't want anyone "borrowing" my ideas, one of them would be called "Dark DayZ" and has only a little to do with zombies, and it's a period piece with no firearms , except maybe for those damn chinese =).

I've made a video for Weyland or anyone else that is having trouble with their controllers... this way is basically fool proof as long as you have an Xbox 360 controller, or a PS3 controller ... I HAVE NOT tried this on any other controller but i assume it works the same on any controller , the drivers might be stubborn for certain controllers which is why i recommend using the tested xbox/ps3 controlers.. Basic Steps: 1.) Plug in controller to usb port 2.) Make sure your computer is installing the device software (controller) it should show you a message in the bottom right in your taskbar saying its installing driver software, if it asks you to install driver software say yes 3.) Download and install Motioninjoy's DS3 tool (just google it ) 4.) load your controller in DS3 tool (ive noticed that some xbox 360 controllers DO NOT SHOW UP in the DS3 tool , thats ok as long as your computer has installed the "driver software" which should happen automatically after plugging in your controller [step 1]) 5.) Download and open Xpadder (google it) and set up all your controls for the controller VIA xpadder (AFTER you have set Xpadder up by finding a bitmap image of a controller and mapping each button accordingly). 6.) Open dayz and PLAY ! NOTE : some users have told me that they NEED to disable the controller under the Dayz Controls tab in the configure options at the main menu , i DID NOT HAVE TO DO THIS FOR ANY OF MY CONTROLLERS , but if you are having troubles in which TWO commands are being executed at once then YOU WILL NEED TO DISABLE THE CONTROLLER IN THE DAYZ OPTIONS AT THE MAIN MENU! EDIT : to disable your controller scheme in game (only do this if you are having double mapping issues ) : Press escape in game (or just go to configure in main menu) and then click on "configure" then "controls" then "devices" and then it should show your controller name , click on it and there should be a button on the bottom of the screen saying "disable" or "disable controller". EDIT #2 : if you have an xbox 360 controller chances are YOU MIGHT NOT NEED DS3 TOOL, as the xbox controllers USUALLY configure themselves properly BUT if its not working in game after setting up xpadder and you cannot seem to get the xbox controller to show up in DS3 Tool then first make sure its driver (xbox controller) is installed by windows correctly and then go to your taskbar and find the icon that states that the driver was installed correctly(alternatively, open your start menu and look for "devices and printers" your controller should be listed there then you right click it and click "Game controller settings" a new window opens up showing the highlighted controller , click properties in the bottom right and it will bring up yet another box which allows you to calibrate it ) , if you click on it you can then open a window which allows you to "calibrate" your controller , make sure to "calibrate" it correctly (it basically tells you how) and then your xbox controller should then work as long as there are no issues with your computers drivers/ capability to install them... Watch the video to the end theres a SEMI-useful comparison of the sensitivity of the controller versus the mouse at the end of the video (only 3:45 minutes long)

Like I said , you need both ds3 tool and Xpadder .. By saying Xpadder is not working properly do you mean when you configure your controls it just doesn't work in game ? Because besides plugging in your controller you need to make sure it's actually been recognized by your computer and the driver installed correcty... Here's how it works for me : i plug in my Xbox 360 or ps3 controller , make sure your computer installs the driver so it actually responds , then open up ds3 tool and go to the driver managers tab ,load the driver that states your controllers name (it might not but it should be the only driver listed) and then go back to the main page of ds3 tool (profiles tab) and activate an xbox profile over it (if you're familiar with ds3 tool you will know what I'm talking about , but it's pretty self explanatory it basically loads drivers for you and masks that controller/driver as any type of controller you want , and I find masking it as xbox controller works best ) after doing all that open Xpadder and make sure you have mapped every button that you need onto the controller via Xpadder , then just keep both applications (ds3 tool and Xpadder) open while you play the game .. When using ONLY Xpadder the controller seems non-responsive, so if that's your problem I'm pretty sure you just need to activate and profile your controller with ds3 tool which is what made mine work . So if you're using Xpadder correctly and you know that your controller driver was installed correctly then it comes down to what controller you are using , I've used an xbox 360 controller and a ps3 controller and they both work as long as I first install and profile it with ds3 tool and then open my Xpadder (make sure your dayz standalone controls are showing , if not load them in Xpadder otherwise it doesn't know what control scheme you're using) , and then I just jump into game .. So if you're a little more detailed into what's going on with Xpadder that could help :) I trouble shooted this for like two weeks when the game first came out and I've been making little tweaks to my control scheme so that it's almost up to par with my Kbm skills , I just need To figure out how to make the inventory mouse move with my left analog stick instead of the right for quick inventory management ..

Vehicles were slated for release if everything goes well , for Christmas :) ... Also zombies DO roam randomly , but for now they have a set area to roam which is rather small , leaving them to roam the same hill .. But again by Xmas I think we will see another advancement of ai (including zombies) . "Placeholder loot" you speak of , well I wouldn't call that place holder as my suspicion of the devs purposely turning off water wells so we would have to drink the natural water which in turn could be the start to disease contracting , could be right ... I hope they are really adding diseases very soon like my paranoia believes , as it would make use of these "placeholder lewtZ" to become incredibly useful . Waiting to play dayz so I must discuss :) .

Its a good question really , my friend always asks me the same question .. We both normally get 2-3 bandit kills a session , last time I played with a controller I only got one compared to his 3 lol but I still survived and i can adapt to this in time . I'm sure I'll be expert on the controller in no time so although controller players are at a disadvantage they just have to practice harder to get to that L337 (elite) status again lol... And also it's so much more comfortable playing on the couch / bed with a controller rather than Kbm on desk . (In my opinon cuz my desk setup sucks ).

Oh poor you, did you get shot by a hacker two months ago and now are back to express how bad you suck at staying hidden ? Lol if you're a complainer like this guy has always been id say wait until vehicles are in cuz that's all these complainers want ... But on the real flip side , horticulture and barricading is in although simple right nOw , temperature is in but it's an extreme WIP , military guns are more scarce but guns and ammo are every where , persistence works on most servers and will work 100% within this month I can guarantee it ... Degradation of items coming very soon as on this patch everything is pristine so they must be preparing for something .. Tents do work and are in the game don't listen to the kids that get butt hurt simply because their tent disappeared because they didn't test the server they were on first before plopping down their favorite item lol ... Cooking and trapping is still basic but yet we already have a better trapping mechanic than in the mod lol , and I can guarantee you that we will have a much more advanced cooking system in beta .. Oh and I don't know about you guys but I've never had experiences on dayz mod like I do on dayz standalone , the player to player interaction is by far wayyy better in standalone than in the mod for many reasons : standalone has handcuffs giving more than enough reason to take someone Alive. Standalone has only direct chat forcing people to talk while in front of each other not over side chat so anyone can talk to anyone on the server without being close to one another .. Standalone is way more balanced than the mod , in the mod all you have to worry about after a gunfight is "did I get hurt, did my car get shot ?" .. In standalone it's more like that PLUS : "shit did my backpack or any of my items become useless ? Did I break my arm ?" Which creates a much more valid excuse to leave a town when spotting someone else as opposed to just fighting them like in the mod .. So my suggestion to all of you , If you're not into human interaction , attention to detail, and a real survival experience with temperature involved (mods temperature system sucked you only got cold in the water and you never get hot ) then I guess the mod is for you because you can just drive vehicles and make bases. But if you've played the mod for years like me and have realized that it's not going ANYWHERE because of all the limitations of being a mod , and simply because the mods are always more pvp oriented rather than survival oriented then stick with dayz standalone , it will have vehicles and base building within the next few months ... Vehicles are closer to being implemented than base building but still base building is not far off. But go play dayz mod for now if you can't stand the glitches and constant re-balancing that is guaranteed to happen with an Alpha , you'll only see yourself addicted to dayz standalone come Christmas/ New Years time when everything is in and semi - balanced .

You don't need to do this !! All you need is both motioninjoy ds3 tool , AND Xpadder ... Configure your controls with Xpadder , load up ds3 tool , you might need to go to a section in ds3 tool that allows you to load drivers (if you're controller doesn't register with ds3 right away) after doing that choose the xbox profile (regardless of what kind of controller you have , although ps3/xbox 360 seems to work the best) .. Make sure not to set the controls for your controller in ds3 tool as it will mesh with the controls you mapped with Xpadder and mess things up... After all that's done you don't even need to disable the controls in the assignments section of dayz , you just play .. Ds3 tool activates the controller even more so it seems , because without it (only using xpadder) my controller only half works.. Hope this helps I will post a video in this thread when I'm home later showing you that mine works at least ... Oh and the right analog stick seems to be the only one I can make the mouse act as ... I can't seem to figure out how to make the mouse move with the left analog stick but that's not a big deal really just makes you a bit slower in the inventory screen.. And after this recent patch I swear they made it easier for us controller users because the sensitivity is jacked up ! My character using a controller can now move just as fast as a mouse user , and I can still make it more sensitive ! A nice touch If the devs really did change something there ...
