Yes exactly , and even just for realism purposes this should be done , but I'm all for loot on the ground and randomly spawning loot in containers ... As soon as someone "claims" a container with a padlock (fridges , safes , some wardrobes) or some rope (other wardrobes , cabinets and the like) then the container no longer is a spawn point for loot until it is free from any "locks or ropes / claiming objects" for a certain amount of time (just like the loot spawning mechanism works ). This way there's loot on the ground , loot in containers , and people can use the "containers" but as soon as they start to put objects in it the spawn rate of items is cut significantly (or 100% if possible) and also when a lock or rope (aka claiming object) is placed onto the container the loot stops spawning as said before . I couldn't imagine playing a survival game like dayz that's at beta or further and only has loot on the ground , or only has it in containers , it needs both for gameplay and realism/fun purposes ! So here's to hoping the devs already have some plan for this like they usually do :)! Edit : sorry for all the edits , damn mobile forums lol . -

That's actually not what I was referring to , I only referenced fallout .. That being said fallout had a Loot system in which loot was visible on the ground AND in containers , I'm not talking about the visual aspect of what the inside of the container would look like lol! Obviously we all want a nice realistic visual of what's inside the container like what we have now in dayz when we loot a body! :) -

exactly, when I first started playing online games I thought they were just as easy to develope/configure as single player games , until I finally started playing MMOs back in the day ... You know like Everquest online for the ps2 and shit ... And wow did I finally realize that online games are always a freaking mess and extremely hard to balance correctly . That being said though it's not impossible and things like this have happened before in dayz sa, do you guys remember when we didn't have binoculars ? I did and I was a very sad Kush until they mysteriously popped up in the dev tracker and then subsequently , experimental branch . So for those that don't know , this "fallout style" loot system (with loot on the floor and loot in containers) was talked about a lot by the developers and community early on in the first 6 months . The idea did fall off the map a bit but that's no reason to believe it was scrapped as it was one of the biggest features talked about in the beginning so some word would be issued of it's scrapping in my opinion . -

This is definitely still coming and definitely not impossible (IMO)... A lot of things have been going on yes , but this whole world container thing is bigger than just making it happen ... It's tied into not only more server work so the servers have gotta be really stable to support them and everything else running, but also something to do with persistence/loot respawning as it is .. So in my opinion they are just waiting to get persistence ,vehicle , and more server/ client side stability, as this Is one of the key features of any survival game (smaller games like 7 days to die have this and it's fun to search drawers and such , but loot should also be present on the graphs like dayz is now ) . Besides dayz devs are all about attention to detail , they wouldn't make this apocalyptic world and just leave out world containers I mean, certain elements of barricading will become useless (in my opinion) if that's the case because everyone would rather make their own house with a tent in it rather than board up an old house with cabinets and a fridge in it ! Basically , unless one of the devs simply state that it's not ever going to be in the game , then I'm going to assume it's gonna show up eventually as this was one of those "small things" like persistence that really make a huge difference in gameplay . -

Yep found mine on a first person server , in the officers barracks too ! She was just sitting there at the first top bunk closest to the entrance / little window :) .

Yes . Absolutely yes and the sad thing is , it's not even an FPS!! That's just what you get though with a dedicated (and let's face it , pretty well off in terms of money after arma and dayz mod ) dev team with a vision all their own. Instead of making a cookie cutter game like cod or BF (sorry bf fans , I liked 1943 so don't hate) they (dayz devs) decided to go out on a limb and do something no other team has done : to make a sandbox survival game that lives up to it's name and beats out others at their own genre due to it's originality and attention to detail ! Long live dayz and here's to hoping that in a years time all those cookie cutter devs will have made their games based after Dayz's concept , instead of just repeating the same old ideas .

Improvement Ideas: Amputation and Medicine

I would love this to be in game , it's not a question of keeping things sterile (I mean the apocalypse literally just started In dayz lore ) I highly doubt all sterilizing liquids (including crude alcohol) would be gone from the face of the earth .. I mean we find morphine everywhere , we give the patient a morphine drip using an emptied out saline bag and IV (or just slowly inject morphine into the patient) and then begin the amputation with one of those mid 1900's medical bone saw sterilized (the ones that aren't electric) i think they are specially made to cut bone , but I'm not sure if it's used ante Or post mortem ... Anyways as long as the patient is under some trance of heavy morphine or knockout gas , the bandages/tools/area were relatively sterile and antibiotics were taken every game day after the amputation , and much rest was given to the amputee Id say it would be perfectly reasonable to be able to amputate in the apocalypse .. especially if we found a hospital room that was somewhat untouched ! The only thing I would be worried about not working is the mechanics of it all , I'm sure though with this new renderer swap and new DX well be able to do a lot of things we weren't able to do and I really hope amputation is one of them :)! Edit : double amputations should not be in the game though , I can imagine a clan all with their own personal "pets", pets actually being a human with both of his legs cut off being forced to crawl behind it's "master" ... That's too weird for gameplay lol .. -
Yea they look like downright pussies lol , their "recruitment" is saving hostages from other bandits , and then murdering the hostage after peer pressuring him into their clan lol ! No wonder they have so many , they pretend to be heroes and bandits to present the "all play styles" kind of clan , but really they all just look like camper/KOSers which is neither bandit nor hero lol ... I'll help kill them if you guys know a 1pp server that they play on ?

To fill the v3s you actually have to put the gas canister (Jerry can) in your hands then get into the drivers seat then use the scroll wheel to go the action called "refuel" , but be careful because for some strange reason they decided to put a "empty canister" action directly under the "refuel" option so don't press that unless you want to waste your gas in the can ... I know it doesn't make much sense yet but the vehicle is still in a very prototype stage , and it doesn't hold any gear yet , if you have a passenger that just got disconnected or just hopped out of your truck you usually see the "view contents" button as if you can see what it's holding but that's just a glitch and it unfortunately can't hold anything yet .

Ya I don't know how the rabbit snares actually trap anything because even when placed correctly (by putting in hands then using the scroll wheel Action) it still seems to catch nothin after close to an hour :/ ...

I honestly think that was just a rumor started by dayztv... Could be something they saw in the game files and decided to bring it to everyone's attention , but as far as I know I haven't seen anyone with one or trying to craft one .

That's one of the highlights of quarter 1 , 2015 on the road map that was just recently posted all over the forums .. But I'm very excited I really hope to see a lot of progress on the "fun" stuff like advancement in vehicles , ai , weapons (silencers and the sounds of guns being different/ echoing) , containers and persistence working fully , more advancements in cooking (and by the way it sounds , it seems like we will be able to cook our bullets ? Does that mean flammable objects are coming ?) Overall a very exciting time, I can't wait for the next 4 months to be over with lol I just wanna see the surprises it will bring :) ! Edit : oh and it looks like in the picture that none of the light from the fire is shining through any walls ... Will this be one of the first products of the changes made to the renderer in Q1 2015? I'm very excited to see a fix for the light so people will play night servers more often (gamma should not be able to be changed in game , so when the lighting is fixed I would hope the gamma slider in game would be removed so people can't cheat at night ).

By the way Barbossa1955 you CAN take tents to another server, you just empty out a moutain backpack and put it in there after dropping your backpack with all your gear on the new server (so that way you can have both) OR better yet just throw the tent IN your hands and you can hop servers with it !!! A video game is very complex , you can't get to the middle of it without taking out the outer parts first ... So when you ask "why are things added then removed" the answer is just that , because when they add other mechanics they sometimes interfere with earlier mechanics and need to be temporarily taken out .. But If were talking about loot items , balance is needed ... So even though not everyone is running around with automatic guns like the start of dayz back in January , people still find M4'S and FNX's all over (just not nearly as much which is how it should be for gameplay purposes , not everybody runs with a group like you, imagine a lone wolf trying to fight off hunger, cold , zombies AND a group of fully automatic bandits), not to mention the helicopter crash sites are all located on NON PERSISTENT servers (maybe you've been visitng the wrong servers ?) and in them contains all the items you have been missing plus many guns that were just added that you might have missed ... Have faith and don't think that everything is done out of spite towards you and your group just remember normal games take about 2-3 years to make and this game has only been available to the public for LESS than a year (it came out December 24th, 2013 I believe ) and don't try and count the year of 2012-2013 when everybody was just talking about how dean hall wanted to make a standalone game , because production on dayz standalone really started I think around June 2013 under wraps, but that was just to open up all the houses that were never accessible in the mod and to make a new inventory and new look for the game I'm assuming . Just take a break but know that you will lose a lot of your gear but you can avoid that by picking up your tent before Wednesday (apparently the day they wipe the servers of tents if they are pitched , so just pick it up the night before) and avoid freshly restarted servers and server hopping as that is the two main reasons why people frequently lose their gear .. Just stick it out and you will be rewarded with most likely the best survival multiplayer game around in about 6 months to a year . -
So you would prefer 15 zombies chasing you stopping randomly after 200 meters , crashing the server or client because most can't handle it at this unptimized stage (my friends computer crashes when the v3s is audible , just imagine his computer trying to visualize 30 zombies and a v3s going down the road in this optimization) .. Or all the zombies chasing you getting caught on a fence simultaneously making some sort of makeshift zombie kickline dance, as opposed to the same number now with improved AI and then adding numbers every patch like they have been ? I'd say it's smart to do it the way they have been , although they have a LOT to work on everywhere else at the same time which is why you aren't seeing the "quick results" you would like ... Balancing it like this is the best option though because they ARE working on melee as well unlike what that other guy fears, and they need the servers to be up to par along with the clients fps to be decent enough to add things like hordes which makes sense to add more and more zombies every optimization patch .. So what we are getting is much better and more enjoyable than just throwing in extra zombies and having to deal with terribly optimized servers , and then working on ai most likely late because they had to deal with implementing much more zombies just to appease the masses that never seem to happen to experience the times when they walk into vybor , myshinko , or elektro and there's like 15 zombies all around coming one after the next trying to get at your nuts lol ... Long story short I can wait for hordes because I don't want to see how much more "dumb" these zombies will be , and I know that in some cites they are already hefty in number and respawns, and to top it all off I can see the true priorities required for more fun and playability over pleasing a small certain group of people who are unhappy with the game at the time .

Well you told me something I didn't know , that all stable servers are by default persistent , i would really love if that's the case because it would mean they are getting closer to fixing Persistence ... I just want my truck to stay after restart lol it's already pretty hard finding them in one restart let alone get to where you need to go !

Ah ok thanks cpthiner , I always wondered why people liked searching for them ... But honestly I'm with tree top on this I hate the scroll wheel reload options , we should just have multiple reload buttons or like the ability to press 1-5 at the same time as "r" to switch to other magazines or something like that ...

Well honestly there seems to be no use for these , unless I missed something , everytime I would load one of these into my moisin my character would take just as long when loading the single bullets ... So it seems to not be much of a difference and not worth looking for over the loose bullets .

Trading window in my opinion has no merit in this game ... Trading is fine , Papajo , have you tried trading with someone and they backstabbed you ? If so just go on the trading section of the forums there's some trusted traders that will never do this to you . otherwise I believe this is the only way as dayz is supposed to be as realistic as possible (the only things we cut out for the sake of the game are things like needing to crap in game , those are things that truly don't need to make it into the game world ) but a trading window is just too arcadey/unrealistic for any game trying to have free open world decisions ; If you wanna trade in the apocalypse you must take the risk of getting robbed, because in your argument, the only reason why we need this is so you don't get killed whilst making the deal which removes all aspects of apocalypse and fear... Besides all that even if there was some nice little trading window , who's to say the guy you just successfully traded with doesn't shoot you after the deal is done ? That's what makes trading sections of the forums flourish , people love to make unofficial trades in the game that usually ends in blood because people are just dicking around , but if you're serious to trade then it only makes sense to find the other traders dedicated to it which IMO is a great way to trade in the apocalypse lol .. -

Awesome idea tullsy , any way that we could somehow see what server type the person/items being trade are coming from ? For example , John Q wants to trade an m4 for a Smersh vest and he is in 1St person only servers ... As some people like me only play in one type like first person , just so people can ignore the trades for the opposite game type . -

That should be the case , but as said before , the gas stoves + frying pan / cooking pot always burns everything instead of cooking it right , it always comes out burnt even if you watch it ... So for now we all have to use regular fires , I can't wait until we can boil some water and cook some type of Stew in it or something :) !
