    Test Version - 1.8.3-1facc9e

I have a small problem on my private testing server. If I set "verifySignatures = 0" it get kicked and even when all the signatures are ok, the client fails to startup the game. This means I am forced to create signature files all the time and this makes quick testing much slower. Does anyone know any other settings that influences how this works? EDIT: Oh and another question is where does "diag_log" log to? I can't find it.

    DayZ Mod 1.8.3

Had a little bit of time to look at this but did not find it yet. As a matter of fact I could use your help. I need to know if the function server_hiveReadWrite in DayZ/SQF/dayz_server/init/server_functions.sqf line 138 is being called. Debugging should be added in DayZ/SQF/dayz_server/compile/server_playerLogin.sqf before and after line 86 (Code line: _primary = _key call server_hiveReadWrite;). This needs to be tested in two ways: 1. new player logs in. 2. existing player logs in. In case this function is called it would be realy useful to know the exact input and output in both cases: _key and _primary. I don't know if you can test this, let me know. EDIT: Actually I need a third test: Login as bandit (make sure the character has the right skin ingame), then die, and then login again. Same input and output needed.

Not sure which bug you are talking about. Are you talking about the skin defect? Can you give me a link/reference?

    DayZ Mod 1.8.3

Yes, fixes first, changes later, can't agree more as I said myself before. But fix everything and not only parts and pieces, otherwise you never know the exact 'success' of your design and new design changes will only be based on assumptions. The 'no blood test done'-penalty was added in 1.8.3. If it was (as you say) mentioned in any design, then should it not be mentioned under fixes? The reason why I ask you to add it to the release notes is because of the huge impact on player experience. If a player has not red about the design, changes or fixes, this player will never understand what is going on and people will keep thinking that the blood bag system is broken. I speak from experience: I was in Chernogorsk a couple of times with different types of blood bags trying to help. Transfusions kept failing every time because of the bug in the software but at the same time I never guessed that I was only allowed to transfuse O- untill I actually saw the code. So I cannot understand how you can't see how important it is to add these kind of things to the release notes. This change is going in effect from v1.8.2 to v1.8.4 (it skipped v1.8.3. because of the transfusion bug).

Sorry to hear that, hope you will get well soon. Don't spend to much time on that pull request though, it is far from perfect and does not solve all the problems because these are spread out over more scripts and other functions. It is probably better to review your design choices first.

Sorry, not ment that way, I just thought that it is was not a very smart comment to tell someone to come over to GitHub and help out, when that was the exact thing that that person has done, but I guess you didn't know that. "wasn't" = "is" or "still isn't" Which was the reason why I did the pull request on GitHub in the first place. I said "sad". I am not mad, just fairly disappointed. But I shouldn't be, looking at the code it looks like that the transfusion system will work again in 1.8.4, and besides that I will be able to exploit it as well and gain some additional humanity points :P. So who knows, maybe I shouldn't have pointed this out to you for my own benefit. But hey you are going to rework it again so it doesn't matter after all, I have tried...

Reading this makes me sad Razor. I spend some extensive time rewriting the transfusion script to simplify blood transfusion. You decided not to use it and now I read you want to make transfusion a little more simple. The initial version that I proposed improves program flow and fixes some bugs that I found like the missing var (no credits, thanks) and other bugs that now are still there. Another thing that I brought to your attention was that I don't understand why you added the penalty (O- only) for no blood test done. This is also still in the code right now (your descission, fine) but then it should at least be mentioned in the release notes to make people aware of this penalty.

    1. Fix the blood bag! 2. Humanity. I red the entire discussion about humanity and I think that people are mixing up humanity with prestige. So my vote to getting humanity points for killing bandits is a big no no. Same counts for getting humanity points for killing zombies because zombies were actualy human beings and I would think you would get totally deranged after killing a shit load of them. So the system of humanity should not change, however it can be tweaked a bit imo. My thoughts is that new players should start with 1 humanity points. Becomeing a hero is based on humanity, however this is just a reflextion that you have done good in helping people. Not getting any humanity points for helping a bandit sounds good to me. Capping the negative points for bandits as well to lets say -20000 because I am fed up with people that are showing of how bad they are. To me it is pretty clear that the amount of negative humanity points creates incentive to kill survivors. At the same time I would think that if someone mananges to gain 25000 humanity points that is a hero for sure. Also I think that one should not get negative points for killing someone in a guilly, soldier or camo skin because that person choose to disguise his or her identity freely. For the rest I would say there should be just many more things (besides the main thing bloodbagging) to get humanity points from. Why should I not be able to get points if I feed someone a piece of chicken? What else can we think of that helps someone survive the apocalypse that could give someone points to humanity? 3. Regards to the update. I think that your versioning system is broken. The last patch was not a patch but a complete change to the game so 1.9.0. A minor version update should be a patch or a fix. I would recommend that you focus on getting things fixed before getting things changed. A couple of examples are that the huey still flies even when the rotor is 100% damaged, the fact that you can carry two axes, the 'clean' water bottle that gets you infected, the waterbottle that can be filled at certain wells while not being able to drink from these wells, cars that have too many windows, fatigue system, gun sway after getting thirsty and the need of a painkiller afterwards, and so many things more... 4. Some minor things Why is there such an extreme difference in animal spawns since the last patch from almost none to animals everywhere? Where is the alice pack? Where is the black limo car?
  10. Hello everyone, I was fairly enthusiastic when I started playing DayZ a couple of weeks ago. But now I must say that my enthusiasm is depleting because of hackers. I have started playing on serveral "Official Servers" thinking that that would be the best way to start. But now I am discovering that even official servers are flooded with hackers (every single one that I have tried). During the first few days of playing I have already litterary been standing next to people spawining in boxes full of every item available in DayZ, helicopters, cars and what ellse... So my question basically: How do I choose a server where there is much better involvement by admins to keep their servers clean from hackers and cheaters? Which server to choose? Is there a list? The term "Official" doesn't seem to make any difference... Thanks for your reply.
