    Optimize optimize optimize

I can confirm that you are wrong. You want a solid base to work from, not a pile of rocks. What if later they find out that the way they are handling items (from the format they are loaded from, to the way they are transferred over the network) has a huge performance impact? It would be much more work to go back and fix everything compared to getting it right and then working from there.

They could add the most baller shit ever to the game but if the game isn't a smooth, enjoyable experience who will want to play it? The more the add now, the more the work it will cause when they attempt to do some optimization. An alpha is meant to focus on the core gameplay, not all these frivolous ideas they've come up with.

Hot Spawning, Ghosting, Combat Logging. @@@

I bet if you reversed their priority list we'd see a lot of gameplay issues fixed, insteading of getting spray paint, and burlap bags on our heads. I understand the make it work, optimize it later development mindset, however, they have system in place they don't even work correctly (unless I've just always done things wrong, and they're doing it the proper way) and they seem more interested in just adding "cool" stuff instead of making things work as intended. I would really like to know if they're even using their new "network bubble." Based on what I've seen so far they're using it and it's not working as expected and that's just fine for them, or they weren't able to get it in a useable state and dropped it to the bottom of the list so they can focus on important things, like making the wildlife take shits. Isn't the point of an alpha to flush out and fix game breaking issues, not push as much content as possible, while introducing more issues?
  4. Considering they didn't even get the "network bubble" right (I don't think they quite understand how a true client/server design works) and that's what they kept saying was holding back the the alpha release, I wouldn't be surprised to see a final release date sometime in mid 2016. I see the same excuses being throw around by everyone, "it's alpha, they did a total rewrite, blah blah blah," based on the progress they've made this far its not a shot in the dark to says its going to be quite some time before they get out of alpha. They have a full team working on this... and well... it really doesn't seem like it.

Ultra realism Vs Balanced game design

Thread is TL;DR Here's the thing about DayZ... It is 100% unreal, as in it would never happen. Therefore, anyone who argues that something should be done in a certain way because it is "realistic" has already lost the argument. Do you have weapons training? Probably not, you'd be useless with a weapon. Perhaps you could scare some animals away. Do you have advanced medical experience? Probably not, you can bandage small wounds. Want to do something more? Good luck not doing more damage. Are you a pilot? Doubt it... Can you run for miles? Have you ever run more than a few miles? Again, doubt it... An average "realistic" person in an environment like DayZ would be 100% fucked and 100% useless, they would be better off dead... A realistic DayZ sounds like tons of fun... Tons. What everyone should be talking about is way to make DayZ a more interesting, enjoyable experience, not realistic. When I want a realistic life experience I have no problem finding it, because I live it.
  6. killing on sight is not something new and many games have tried to develop systems to reduce it, usually unsuccessful, if you think dayz is going to be the one to develop a magical system that makes people not want to murder each other, you're wrong. if you want a strictly zombie survival game go play state of decay or some other single player game. if you're playing a multiplayer game and people have to option and means to kill other players, they're going to. get over it.
  7. A majority of you are the reason why DayZ will never see a great amount of success. You're mostly too elitist and only want this game to be how you want it. I never once said that you opinions were wrong, nor did I say anything about the style of play you prefer. You're jumping to conclusions and making assumptions. I don't play on PvP servers, I don't enjoy spawning with a DMR and a M9SD, I also don't enjoy running around forever, it gets old fast so I play on server with extra vehicles. I also hate many of the extra "features" almost all server have. DayZ is not a hard game, it is not hard to get gear, it is not hard to "survive," I only experience tense moments while I'm playing against other players, the zombies are just there to let me know there's players around. There isn't much to do in DayZ, don't get me wrong, it's fun, but there isn't much to do. If you think a lot of people are against PvP server or "casual" server then why are many of the top, usually full servers, a PvP or casual playstyle? Do you really think many of those players would continue playing DayZ if those server weren't there? The overall population would be dramatically lower if these server weren't there. Oh shit, I never said anything about how you guys are wrong and I'm right.
  8. So what about people that don't have the time to dedicate to spending days find good gear? Because I have a responsibilities which prevent me from playing hours upon hours a day why should I be punished? I want to play DayZ and enjoy all the experiences it has to offer as well... If I had to spends a week or more to do that I would quickly become bored and simply find something more rewarding to play. The mentality of a significant portion of the people on here is so fucked I'm not surprised these forums are highly ignored, even shunned.
