Pvt George Smith? I remember seeing that name on my game from time to time when I was leaving the game or logging on or something. Im sure its nothing to worry about, unless the hacker George smith is stalking me too :huh:

just download dayz launcher and type in PVE in the search box, I just did it to check and there are at least ten busy non PVP servers. Hope this helps brother

Dayz launcher works just fine, its what I use and I haven't had any problems with it, reason I use it is cos it looks better than the multiplayer version, and reminds me of good 'ole Commander :)

I tried a no pvp server when I first played a year ago, and the first message I saw on side was "hey some bastard just shot me" Theres no escaping PVP on Dayz!

Just watched your public hive episode 2 vid there on youtube, and I must say it was very impressive. Up there with a Frankie vid IMO. Keep up the good work!

Its not about 'anti-hack' servers my fine fellow, its about finding servers with good people on them, admins AND players. The mod is infested with hackers, the secret is to try and find a server that is self-policing.

Just reading through the above posts, I can see no benefits of trying out this mod. Its like dayz on acid

Thanks for the help Borges my good man, thing is I have the dayz mod, been playing all the other versions(vanilla, epoch, overwatch etc) for the past year or so. Just cant get this latest update up and running. Tried everything you said, but everytime I start up dayz mod via steam it still tells me im running 112555! Im not complaining though, I must be going wrong somewhere. beanz for trying to help anyway :thumbsup:

borges my good man, I am confused with all this latest update stuff, and playing wirh certain mod clients and so on, I thought I had it all sussed when I worked out dayz commander lol! So I got 1.8.1 running on dayzcommander, but theres an updated patch out that you can only access through steam? And only on certain servers? I like the sound of it, but to be honest Im struggling to get to grips with how to play the latest version, and what servers to play it on. And there are probably a good few like me!

what I thought was poignant about the end of dayzsurvival.net was the outpouring of grief at the end of the seaweed guy protecting them, much like when sherriff Rick Grimes could protect his 'flock' from the outside world no longer on the walking dead.. I am just pissed off that I never discovered this server until it was too late...

its July 1st today my good man! As for the playerbase being dead(gone), I agree with you, its far from being dead.

sadly zerosurvival is closing down, I only tried it once and because someone spoke to me straight away when I joined I thought I was the victim of hacking and logged out lol, how wrong could I be? next time I tried it was in the process of closing down... Talk about missing the boat! sounds like it was a truly great vanilla dayz server. Anyway, if any of you come across me on the vanilla servers, I am one of the good guys.

Cant think of one bud, played servers where you start with loaded guns, played servers where you start with nada, but none with an empty pistol.

Funnily enough, a few weeks ago when I was playing someone offered to cover my dead body when I respawned to get my loot back. I was dubious, thought it was a trap. Probably not though after reading this! Thing is, I play Dayz for the survival experience, therefore the idea of going back to my own dead body to loot it is a game breaker for me, when I die, I die. Time for a fresh start.

I feel your pain brother. I too play to be a hero, and by that I don't mean running around bloodbagging folk and stuff to get a hero skin, I just mean playing as a good guy and being nice to any fellow survivor I bump into. we are out there my good man, keep the faith!

as the man above me says, dayzcommander. use the filter box to find the version you want to play. Just type 'vanilla' or 'epoch' and a list of available servers will come up.

Unlucky my good man, good vid though! You should have known better the minute the guy started swearing at you and ran for your life... Proper friendly folk wouldn't cuss and threaten an unarmed player.

Just remember my good man, epoch and overwatch are mainly PVP. When I first started out I would jump onto overwatch and epoch servers, not knowing the difference from the pure vanilla Dayz experience and that it was players killing everything that moved. Get 1.8.1 and hop onto a vanilla server, better chance of being able to play the hero role there.

So what are the general mod populations thoughts on it? Personally I love it, fast as hell hard as nails zeds, hardly any loot when you do sneak through the hordes and a general feeling of hopelessness, just what the dayz doctor ordered! The zeds are a bit too difficult, but its better that than being a bit too easy. The latest patch to me feels like the 28 days later movie, you really don't want to get spotted, when you hear the zeds scream? Its time to panic! I haven't had the time to delve in properly yet, but the fact that your blood slowly increases giving you a chance to survive against the odds if you hold your wits, mixed with having to shoot and cook animals to survive and have to drink from water pumps instead of surviving on endless cans of cola and beans? I know Im just scratching on the surface of the new patch, but already 1.8.1 looks like the business... Thoughts?

fair play kabuki my good man. Didn't realise you were looking for non 3rd person vanilla. To me 1st person is taking things too far as you have to press keys just to move your eyes from side to side, it just feels too clunky. 3rd person has its flaws, but at least it allows you to see whats going on around you without having to bash the keyboard.

Theres no need to kick the man when hes down, hes only asking for a bit of help to get his server a bit busier. hardcore servers are still out there my good man, you just have to find 'em!
