  1. A 5.56 is effective because it is designed to not pass through actually. The back of the round moves faster then the tip on impact, folds over itself and breaks apart causing a larger wound then the round itself. That has a devastating effect to the body but does not necessarily have instant killing power when placed in a not lethal zone. We call them the walking dead, they have received a lethal wound and are alive but patching the external damage is not going to save them because the internal damage cannot be fixed without causing more damage that will kill them anyways.
  2. A firearm is more deadly then an arrow because firearms can deliver multiple rounds down range at a larger range, rapidly and accurately. Like the guy posted above soldiers are trained to target the kill zones and that what makes them effective. I know a lot of guys who have been hit by the inaccurate blind fire of insurgents and are alive today. An arrow specially with the right head delivers way more area damage then a smaller object traveling at high speed.

    [Experimental 0.44] Zombies are fixed?

I've noticed the melee damage has had an impact on more then just zombies. I was attacked by a guy wearing a motorcycle helmet and carting a splitting Axe, all I had was a machete. He was flailing his Axe around madly and hit me a few times but I took calculated swings based on his movement hitting him in the head most of the time, one I defeated his helmet the next swing knocked him to the ground and I killed him. I was severely messed up in the end but came out the survivor.
  4. I haven't played since Arma 3 came out, correct. I played wasteland, dead nation and breaking point till the standalone came out.I played the mod a ton before then including others such as wasteland, and the dayz mods. When Arma 3 came out I did what I have stated enough times, I moved on to something else I enjoyed. When the standalone came out I stopped playing the Arma 3 dayz mods also, but I still play Arma 3 for its main content and wasteland. You still like to resort to the same defense of attempting to strip my credibility based on that you have played the Arma 2 mod more then I have, and call me a fanboy. From my point of view I have spent more time on other options out there and am more content with trying new things. Seems to me like you may need to adjust to changes, because that is what the standalone is, or play the mod. It's not the mod, it's design path was never intended to be the mod, and the mod is still avaliable(and supported by the mod community). Again if you are such a fan of the mod why are you here? This is the standalone community.
  5. Yes if they release a game with 300 more features that don't work it would be a game with 300 more features then the previous, it would just be a terrible game.Quote me where I said the features are better? You asked what features are in that were not able to be done in the mod, I listed them, I have not once said they were better. I enjoyed the mod even with its bugs(like the never solved breaking your legs from sneezing too hard or zombie wall walk). I also enjoy the standalone with its lack of features, since I understand it is an incomplete game. If the standalone did not develop beyond what it is I would loose interest in it and move on, but I am interested in seeing where it goes. The mod was abandoned because it is a game built in 2009, my copy is a CD Copy not a steam copy. The standalone is a full game being built now, comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and oranges; yes the standalone was initially going to be a port of the mod with some lipstick put on it then put out, the dev team have realized that by doing that will not bring up the standards of the game to today's market and essentially are rebuilding core mechanics of the game. Most of the issues seen are there because of the legacy components still in the game, I don't doubt they will solve them when they get to the phase of development because I also play Arma 3 and have since it released on early access. You want to strip me of my credibility, and in all honestly if it makes you feel mighty then go hard. What is yours? I've helped out a few mods in development in my spare time as a "military advisor" and dabbled a bit in world design. I've seen first hand how development projects work, have you?

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

    Yeah, I know that voice
  7. Regardless if the features are working as they should at the moment, these are the features of the game that were not possible in the mod
  8. I dunno I think it's fairly real, I've been playing it...If enjoying the game makes my ignorant then so be it lol. You are free to have your own opinion, so am I, and everyone else here, trying to shove that opinion down everyone else's throat is what they have a problem with. The developer is also free to create the game they want, I have made my suggestions but in the end if they like it they will use it, if not they won't. I play the game as long as I enjoy it, if I don't I move on, and if I really want to see my ideas come to light I will for a mod team or design my own game. Oh and for the record I'm not blind, I actually have 20/10 vision... it let's me see outside the box. ;)
  9. Does it have all the features of the mod? No, they have a long way to go at rebuilding things, not using what is already in Arma 2Just because you don't like it doesn't make it any less a feature, and your question was things out of tge concept of the the mod, maybe you should reread your post. I actually do like it and the direction it is going is better then the mod in my opinion. You complaining about every little detail saying the mod is better just makes me wonder why you even come on here? I don't go on the forums of games I don't like, I post here because I do like this game and what my input on development and link with the real community here. If the mod is such a perfect game for you then don't buy the standalone, no one is holding a gun to your head, play the mod then...
  10. Since week one of its release.Only 3? -Simplified controls with the inclusion of hotbar assigning items allowing for hands to be emptied or non-weapon items being held in the hands. -Item durability -Server architecture -Melee system being independent of firearm systems -Accelerated night/day -Clothing containers, containers in containers and mags -Rebuilt mouse controls And that is just currently what is in now Lol did you ever play the standalone?

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Lol yeah I encountered that hacker yesus on a server with BE enabled, he seemed to have no powers again, my 7.62 bullet in the back of his skull confirmed this for me.

My First Bandit Kill On Standalone

Cold blooded murder. Happens in lawless society, that's why your don't trust everyone so easily.

    Is Dayz still the Anti-game?

I think some things should be simplified and comforatable(like controls). Complexity should be put into gameplay mechanics. They seem to be pulling that off, slowly but surely.
  14. 1100 hours in the mod does not mean your know what your are talking about. The standalone is based off the idea the mod came from not the mod itself. This allows them to try brand new things that have not been done before, and if it hasn't been done before then there is no data to see how successful it could be. Development will be much slower while they develop test results and data to modify new ideas. The fact that they get to do this because of early access is great and should mean less patching directly after day one of full release. Fact is like other great games before it DayZ has set a bar in the industry and has been an inspiration for other games, that on its own deserves recognition.
  15. BIS has done a great job with creating great non-casual games before, including when they were paired with codemasters to make Operation Flashpoint(regardless of the bugs and all the stuff people commonly complain about), with and without Deans vision with DayZ and I'm sure the final product with DayZ will be no different. In some ways I wish DayZ had some of Arma3's elements and in some ways I wish Arma3 had DayZ's elements. I would take the bugs in BIS's game any day over having my tactical shooter options be limited to the big game studios. Rainbow 6 was once a great game that was also destroyed by casual play after Raven shield(Rogue spear being the best)
  16. But to appease the people who would leave would require changing the game design to what they want, if Deans vision is not what they want they will ultimately leave. I don't want to see Dean or BIS to change the vision of DayZ to suit the wants of the late joiners. I'm not saying I want them to leave also but there are enough games that take the "safe" route to appease the masses. I am one of the minority that is unhappy with the direction mainstream games take and throughly enjoy the direction games like Arma 3 and DayZ are going, u would hate to see that vision die due to trying to appease the masses. In all honesty I don't think anyone could have predicted how huge the market was for not taking the "safe" route in game design in today's age of gaming.
  17. If they are going to leave they will leave, unless dayz becomes what it is not to keep them here. In the end they will still own the game and play it from time to time just like I may buy H1Z1 and play it on the odd occasion when I need a DayZ break, DayZ will be my go to game primarily though. Gaming choice is always a good thing, you don't need to dedicate yourself to 1 game to remain loyal. They can encourage their friends to play another game just like I will and have encouraged and introduced mine to DayZ. DayZ has nearly a 2 million player base, I don't think it's going to become dead anytime soon.
  18. You say that like it is a totally bad thing. They are creating a similar game that I can almost 100% guarantee will not provide the same survival depth as DayZ, making it an easier pickup and play game. In the end people who want a simpler game will move on and those of us who like the complexity of DayZ will remain here and not have to filter through all the casual players asking for things to be made easier, adding in HUDs, etc. I'm glad Rocket has stuck to his guns and is building the game the way he wants for the most part with adapting a few small changes from suggestion he likes, not just community pressure with the growth of a lot of casual player coming in. This game for its genre is a one of a kind, there are and have been many other "zombie" games that have hit the market, but Dean stepped into a relm of breaking all the core development rules and created a following by doing so with all the people who got fed up with the way games were being developed, DayZ isn't without its faults, but in my opinion the good far out way the bad.
  19. that's what I'm saying lol, I don't impulse buy. I check out their website, reviews, youtube videos, etc. before I get a game. I'm picky with what I like. I always assume that their upfront advertising is designed to draw interest more then it is to explain the game, but that goes for everything, not just games. I understand the want for high quality control, but with higher quality controls comes more expense to indie developers to get their games on steam, that could in the end hurt a lot of small developers trying to get started. For example: look at what Dean said about getting DayZ onto Xbox One, because of their rules it probably wont happen since they need a major company as a publisher, and some up front costs. There is more then enough information on the web for people to make informed decisions before they purchase a game, if they don't want to loose their money to a poor product they need to: a. Research b. Not purchase on the day of launch till more information comes out c. Not buy into early access games

Please help! Cant play the game!

Did you try changing from stable and experimental and see if one or both are an issue?
  21. I get what your saying, and it is a horrible game that did horrible things but steam is about allowing small gaming companies take off, I think steam has inspired more creativity then caused harm. If I spent $20 on a crappy game i play twice then so be it. You could always go back to spending $60 a pop on Frappe mainstream games that are no better. Dota 2 has never been completed and it is one of the most popular games
  22. but there is. WarZ was kicked off of steam for awhile because they included a list of features that didn't exist yet.
  23. Steam does a pretty good job I think. I am fine with the associated risk when I buy an alpha game, I've been screwed over for thousands of dollars before from worse things then buying an alpha game, I moved on.

Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?

Everything you are able to do correct. Hence why this thread is opening up conversation on the opposing position to limit things like this. If you didnt need to eat/bandage/find ammo would you? What you find enjoyable someone else may not.Accolyte already addressed the why, and it's not to protect your play style, it's because their isn't much point. The dev team spent time creating in game radios, do you honestly think they don't want people using them over other sources?

Getting a detailed facial customisation would be nice, don't need to modify bodies though.
