Yep it should be random, across the map but should also be plausible. I don't think randomly spawning in the middle of the woods is plausible - why would you just be out in the woods? However, it can be made plausible by adding a tent and a camp fire. Another spawn location could be by wrecked cars (as in you just wrecked it). In houses would be the main ones but there's other possibilities as well. Coastal spawns are useless now - we all know the map so just make us spawn all over it - there's no reason not to, is there?

With this new Choose Spawn feature, Dayz Turned into CoD

Are there still PVE carebears? I thought they went extinct :o -
Aren't all the servers like this already?

So glad half the dayz pop will be playing that other game when the SA is released.Good bye - you won't be missed!

With this new Choose Spawn feature, Dayz Turned into CoD
Jex replied to TheWizard14's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I see no reason why they have implemented this feature other than to appeal to the PVP crowd. I thought I was meant to be playing a zombie apocalypse game where I was meant to survive, not some PVP cod/bf deathmatch. Let me guess, these will become the more popular servers - it's just like the 3rd v 1st person arguments all over again. So the game get's dumbed down another notch - it's made easier, it's "streamlined" no doubt. If it's meant to help with meeting up, I guess I get lost on the point of playing a game that lasts forever and yet I need to meet up with my mate in under 20 minutes (that's how long it will take you max to meet up with someone anywhere on the map pretty much). To me, dayz is meant to go "There you go, have that spawn fucker - don't like it? Here have some flesh eating zombies for being a candy little care bear prick!" -

I always head north to Zel and then Pushtoska (?) and then the airfield when I spawn at Kamenka. I can make that run in about 30-40 minutes and when I get to the airfield it just run right in, I haven't anything to lose at this point but I might come away with a nice backpack or a nice gun. Once I have that, it's time to start seeing how long I can live whilst finding enough trouble to keep things interesting. -
I've had over a year of fun with DayZ for free. BIS are one of the best companies out there supporting the gaming and modding community. To think that isn't worth £15-20 is ridiculous. Even if the SA sucks (which is highly doubtful), I'm still happy to support DayZ and BIS for what they've already given me. Nuff said.

People that leave vehicles behind
Jex replied to TrickyBot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles aren't really worth the effort. You spend hours fixing them up and keep them for a day or two. You can't hide them well at all (especially from the air) and on a busy server, with people moving all over the map someone will eventually find it. -

Deciding (Sorry if this is in the wrong section)
Jex replied to northriver's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Get Arma 2 and 3! lol Arma 2 is great, Arma 3 is the same but better and improved upon. Thing is with Arma is that you're not buying into a game, you're buying into a community. Just look on youtube for wasteland, Arma Life (I think it's called), Domination, ACE and probably a lot more. Then there's all the vehicles and player models you can download, new weapon packs, islands...all for free (www.armaholic.com) DayZ is a mod for arma just like the other ones I listed which, if you're good at using the mission editor and can code, there's nothing to stop you making your own mod either. When you play DayZ, everything you see other than most of the guns and the map itself is the mod pretty much (hud, loot items, zombies, infection, eating, gutting animals, etc). BIZ should be congratulated in being one of the few companies out there that still allow such a thriving community, the likes Activation, EA, UBISOFT said a big "FUCK YOU" too years ago. -
Facts of patch 1.8 - loot is nonsense
Jex replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Compared to Day Zero, it's like I hit the jackpot every time I hit a loot spot. It's wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. I never have to carry spare food or drink now because I know It's all over the place. Guns are way too much as well - 4 assault rifles in a fire station? 2 GPS's within 2 visits of the same. And wtf is with power line pylons spawning loot now (and zombies) get rid of that shit we don't need it (and the extra cpu cycles it makes) and it doesn't make sense to find car engines by them. I get geared out on 1.8 in the south in about 30 minutes. That kind of gear is considered high tier on dayzero and I'd have to go north for it. Please don't make the mistake of lowering it to ridiculous levels though. -
Tried to jump back into DayZ...
Jex replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Having played Day Zero for the last few months, coming back to 1.8 I'm amazed at how much loot there is. DayZero doesn't even have half the loot you get here. You might get a rifle in the fire station if you're lucky, I found 2 GPS's in 2 visits. Even with less gear on DayZero, KOS is still a problem. I also play panthera on ATF - total pvp, guns and loot everywhere and KOS all the time to the point were people with makarov's are trying to shoot you with an M16 acog from 100m away. Did meet 5 friendly people in a row though funnily enough and we hooked up on TS. -
Does anyone else think the tractor is hilarious?
Jex replied to Jex's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe in future patches we can craft saddle bags for them -
I want to tie people up and drag them off into a cabin in the woods to torture them.
-
Yes let's re-introduce the 2 worst weapons in the game what a brilliant idea!
-
I heard it helped ward off infection but I think that's probably nonsense. I'd rather they just left out useless stuff like this if it serves no use.

Is DayZero any good and has Breaking point been improoved?
Jex replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Breaking point? Tried it months back, buggy as fuck (to the point it's entirely unplayable) and not only that but no policing on hackers which we ran into far too often and left them to it. Shitty broken mod with loser hackers = shit game. -
Seriously? What's hard about running through town and grabbing gear when the zeds are so easy to lose? Granted, when you first start playing it is but once you've learned how the zeds work it becomes real easy. Hopefully the SA will sort out the zed issue to make them a threat, I really hope so. I want to be able to creep through towns hiding from them but knowing if I make one small mistake I'm likely to die. I think zeds should have a grabbing mechanic that slows you down. Then, as more and more close in your dragged to the ground and see them pull out your guts...HURRRRRRRRR!

KOS is human nature? I'd love to see the evidence for this and also for how our species managed to get were it is today with this mentality.

So I realized why I'm so attached to my gear.
Jex replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You get attached to your gear the longer you spend collecting it. The thought of some new spawn or anyone taking your hard earned loot is aggravating. This is why in games like COD and BF there is never any adrenaline because there are no consequences to your actions. If you die, you respawn with the same gear time and time again. Dayz takes away all the things you collected or fought for over days of playing so of course there's more value to it and why the game instill fear into you. -
If you play with HDR on minimal settings, it will be darker than on medium or high. I never knew this, I have to play on basic settings and it is pitch black. setting it to medium allowed me to see what all my mates were seeing lol. Also an hour is hardly a long time to play in the dark ffs.

Tried to jump back into DayZ...
Jex replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look I know you don't read what other people say, even when they answer but I already answered this in my first post. You can't behave normally, due to that fact you get punished for being an asshole. The punishment only happens if you get hit by a zombie so it's not 100% guaranteed is it. Maybe the threat of infection will slow down the rate of murder just for the sake of it. Or maybe the thought of looking for AB's for hours takes you away from your kill-die-kill-die game? -
