    READ What YOU Are Buying

The people who don't get it are the people who are stupid. It's a very easy thing to work out so you're wasting your time even trying to explain it.
  2. Yep I think it's the best policy. Make a game and then a few months or less before you're ready to launch, start advertising. What's the point of talking about it before hand and then having delays. BIS should have worked faster too. This is obviously a money maker and should have taken precedence over other projects? Or hire in more help. I get the feeling it's rocket and 3 coders plus a couple or artists lol.
  3. Choosing spawn location was the dumbest move by far. It was obvious what was going to happen with it - precisely the bullshit that's going on now. For some reason, the mod team decided that rather than play a zombie survival game, they wanted everyone to be able to play death match, because as we know, there are no death match FPS out there. I don't understand the thinking behind this - why cater for the death match people when there's ton of those games already?
  4. A lot of the time I too walk around rather than run. It will also give you a faster run (you sprint faster initially then slow down to a running pace) and you weapon is steady all the time. I play with friends and we run everywhere but sometimes I'd prefer to walk - we talk anyway, just like you would in RL and sometimes we stop when we see a nice view. Thing is - dayz is a never ending game so there is literally no point in rushing around everywhere. Does it matter if it takes you 10 minutes or 30 to get from this point to that point when you have forever to do it in. If you did make yourself walk everywhere you'd notice things a shit load more too as well as the tactical advantages it gives you (the slower moving you are the less noticeable you are).
  5. Yeah you should have shot the admin but don't feel bad about shooting his cheating ass friend and the reason he didn't care you shot him? He had a mate that could give him any weapons he wanted and could teleport around the map to grab shit. It's a wonder they even bother to move at all - why not just edit the database and give yourself everything.

    Day-night cycle?

Personally I think it should be a 7 hour cycle, 5 hours day, 2 hours night - that way the nights are never that long they're a pain and could actually be useful. 7 hours ensures it's not always the same time of day every day you log on. It's obvious that people don't want hours of darkness - that's right there in stats of current players. Force long nights and players will just go to servers hosted in different countries just to be able to play in the day.
  7. I would also have said wtf but it's him - he never reads threads through so alway ends up arguing a point nobody is making. I'm sure one day he'll actually get so confused he'll end up arguing with himself in a thread.

    12/1/13 Epoch Story.

Yeah so now they're not quite this awesome force they sound like right, and you're not so much the bunch of cowering noobs that you sound like. Now imagine how that scenario would have played out in first person only - I bet it would have been more tense for both sides and had a completely different outcome.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

It's also not a sandbox game.

    12/1/13 Epoch Story.

I'm assuming third person was on? The encounter would have been entirely different if they didn't have that advantage over you.
  11. Well I can't shoot a whole crew and they're putting brooms into the SA now too? :P

    Martial Law In Elektro??

You just experienced a very rare moment in dayz where you weren't just shot right away. You'll probably never see another moment like this for months, if at all. Very few people take the time to do something different in dayz and if it happens again, I would suggest you roleplay the encounter through and see what happens. In a months time you'll be cursing all the people that kill you when you just spawned. Make the most of these encounters, there aren't that many.
  13. Anyone I see with a stupid mask on is getting shot in the face.

    What's the deal with epoch.

I've tried Epoch, I was a little put off that people can destroy your bases as they take hours of work - is it common to come back and find your base ruined? I'm also thinking that using the hardest materials means trying to hatchet through would takes a lot longer than a wood wall?
  15. Because they've done all that and are now just twiddling their thumbs?
  16. acckk! you win! I don't remember the water there though..? :beans:
  17. 10 points to the first person that can mark where the picture was taken on the map!! QUICK!!!
  18. Well I'm sure Peter Molyneaux or Sid Meir didn't have these problems ;) Too many cooks spoil the broth as they say.
  19. Then you should make the mod in the vision you want it to be played. Once you let a committee get involved, everyone wants everything and it becomes ridiculous. Make it the way you want it, listen to people's ideas but only use what you want - that's how games are made that are any good - you stick to a vision and go with it. Once you start adding everything that people want is becomes a clusterfuck - which is what DayZ is now with all the mods - too many choices and the player base gets watered down. Sometimes restricting certain things makes a game better - is your Mod the realistic dayz or is it some cheap BS game that starts you with a convoy of trucks loaded with unicorns that shoot lazers from their horns - tell everyone to FO or get with the program.

Did I do the right thing?

Actually it was the bus driver that did the wrong thing. You roll up in bandit skins and stop right by someone and say nothing more than "get in" you're a fucking retard if you don't think you're going to get shot. It doesn't matter how you got the bandit skin but if anybody seriously doesn't know by now that people don't trust players in bandits skins that's their fault. The OP doesn't know how the situation would have ended and was put on the spot. Maybe next time they'll remember this encounter and play it a little more carefully rather than just assume because they're friendly, everyone must automatically know it and who's to say they weren't going to drive him up to the north edge of the map and break his legs and leave him there.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

It all depends on the method and delivery. If you were using side chat to talk to him and then make him think you were friendly, that's a BS way of doing it - you can't talk to people in real life by logging into a global messaging service - it's a lazy and cheap way of doing it. If you met him whilst driving around that's fine but ultimately pointless - why act like a douche and friend a person you want to kill - probably says more about you than you'd like people to know. Killing fresh spawns is just pathetic. Seeing a player or players and stalking them then hunting them is fine and a challenge and is the least used mode of banditry, well almost.... Holding up a player and using direct voice chat to tell them to hit the floor and drop all their shit and then take it. In the SA, you'll be able to do this and make them take their clothes off - Woohoo! ;)
