Now you're asking me to rely on my memory of forum posts from years back. I think one of the main issues with people playing at night was how dark it got, where you literally couldn't see anything no matter the gamma setting. There's also a lot of fumbling around as well compared to day and we know how easy players like it. I think hours of fumbling and not seeing much is a turn off for a lot of people. I think they'll put up with some of it, but not hours. Personally I like playing in the day. I like the different states of light you get from morning to evening and seeing the vista's the landscape has to offer. I like starlit nights too, I don't hate nights like some people but gamma exploits put me off too. If I have to turn my gamma up to compete and make my game look shit (I like the night effect, not gamma induced crapness), then that puts me off too. I also think there's a certain feeling that when it's dark you kind of settle down instinctively - humans do things in the day light, generally they don't do a lot during the nights (especially with infected on the loose). I'll put up with a couple of hours of night, I might even play a few occasions where it's night for a lot longer so my whole play is in dark as a "one off" but generally I prefer daylight play. Gotta go, be back tomorrow :) -

NVG's take the available light and increase it by tens of thousands. They aren't particularly limited in range and they work in the rain but a torch/flashlight in the face will fuck em up. They are extremely OP if you have them (why do you think they were developed?) so I'm leaning towards a no. Something about battling by torch light seems like it would be a lot of fun and as someone said in another thread (maybe it was you), if people know NVG's are in the loot table, they'll stay away from night servers because that's where people with NVG's will go. -

Aah but I'm telling you what I think should work, so who's right? lol All I know is that from playing the mod, night servers were generally avoided. I was adding a logical reason as to why you wouldn't be out at night. The actual reason is most people won't play at night which is why I like the 2 hour night thing. I'd rather experience 2 hours night than 24 hours daylight but I don't want 8 hours of night or even 4. 2 hours also seem long enough to satisfy casual gamers too who can only play for a few hours. -

I'm hoping they make it so you can creep by them if you're careful by using any stance. There was a time in the mod where you literally had to crawl to avoid zombies and it was boring. It wasn't a challenge because it worked all the time and it was boring because crawling 300m is BS. I want to be able to move from cover to cover and I don't want a zed seeing my heel or my ear and going all aggro. They should need a see a significant portion or you make a noise and they come investigating or something. -
I never said they weren't, I was just replying to others on how to make sure to know they're bandits. Your method, getting shot by them, whilst it does certainly give away for sure who is a bandit, I prefer my method ;)
-
Presumably, one would think, that before you start killing "bandits" you make sure they are bandits first. That would mean stalking them until they kill innocents.
-
Why did they change everything about zombies but the worst problems?

What part of ALPHA don't you understand? What part of testing or place holders don't you understand? What part of coding an ALPHA development don't you understand???? Go away, come back when the game is fully released then moan....like a zombie.....like...hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr -
RO is a great game though I preferred the original, especially the tank battles. We had some amazing battles in tanks not to mention the infantry roles too.
-
They have to have an animation where you stick it through their face then hoist them up and wave them like a flag! edit: I forgot damn it! Flaming torches!! How could you not add flaming torches when you added pitchforks!!!! OMG why!!!!! OGRES!!! and OGRES!!! Why didn't...

Happy birthday cat :)

Doesn't steam check file integrity and fix - or at least have the option to run this? Is the only fix a reinstall if this happens?
-
I know I was trying to make it bigger than it really was. Though.... When they do implement it, I'm going to start dropping them all over the place <_<

My mate and I are heading up to Pobeba Dam (sp?) later today. It's the only place we haven't gone to see on pretty much the entire map. One of my favourite spots and the entire map is pretty cool from a hiking perspective - the hidden in plain view objective. How many people actually explore the map just to take it all in.
-
Would you want to eat a random leg of boar u just found? And who's going round leaving these all over the place?? We need to know the answers, DAMMITT!!!!
-
lol ok game on! However, the whole mechanic is wrong. There should never be an instance where u can just run up to an unsuspecting player and bloodbag them or handcuff them, whatever, be you a 7 foot tall trucker or a 5' 4" chick with a face painted like a little cat :) or mouse...maybe a shrew...
-
Why can't you do this anymore? So really, this should only be an option if you have the player in handcuffs. Any other time the other player should be asked if they allow another person to do something to them right? You can't just run up and handcuff someone, or force an IV needle in their arm or force them to eat food. Go try it on a 7 foot tall truck driver in a greasy cafe and see how that works out for you ;)

LOL I faked the pic! I couldn't resist it :)

I guess it depends on what BIS want. Do they want the money or do they want the game? Dean already tried to get CEO of BIS to make the game more expensive to buy and the CEO said no. They could have charged more but they decided not to so maybe Money isn't a huge priority for them (I know right, is that even believable? Doesn't it show how fucked up humanity is when the thought of a company doing something other than for money is completely unbelievable? ;)) -

They'll just have to allow for all night servers then I guess. Trouble is, most people don't want to play at night and you're timings means that every day I get home from work, the same server will be the same time of day, everyday. Servers that have elongated nights don't get populated. -

Yes I was thinking maybe 15 minutes "twilight" before sunrise and after sunset. I would still let the nights go really dark on moonless, cloud filled nights but I'd adjust the weather patterns so it wasn't so cloudy so these kind of nights would be rarer. Not sure I want night vision. What does it achieve anyway? As soon as they introduce it you're going to know people have it and then you're at a disadvantage - it's literally like fighting a blindfolded man so why even introduce that (And I'll bet too that the people who find NVG's only ever take them to night servers so they can pwn people on them and will leave them in a stash at other times. -

I'm all for tougher zombies by far. Make one bite infect and kill you imo. I want it so I have to avoid them or take out a select few so I can weave a path through them all. Make it a challenge to get through a city and if you fuck up, you better have a good escape plan. As for nights, why would we want 8 hour long nights? Why would you be awake during the night? It makes no logical sense at all. Shorter nights however make it that people know they're not agonizingly long and are more likely to stay on the server. There's no reason to have long nights and the server populations prove it. Very few people play on night servers and a 2 hour window gives plenty of time to people who like playing at night but also introduces it to other people that aren't crazy about it. Everyone also gets to experience morning and evenings with a 7 hour cycle. This seems to be the most logical choice I can think of to suit everyone rather than 99% of servers on a 24/7 mid day setting. Personally I love the idea of planning a raid, say on a base or airfield, getting my mates in position just as twilight is falling and then moving in under cover of darkness. The NW airbase can easily take an hour to check every spawn location (unless you just leg it through) so 2 hours is plenty. What do you need the extra night time for? -
Rocket did say in a interview last year that he would like an ACRE type of system but not as complicated. ACRE is brilliant and just makes playing Arma 2 so much more immersive which is most felt when ur mates all get killed and ur on ur own trying to pick up anybody on comms but u get nothing back so you start moving. Then, after a while you hear a garbled comms and know ur getting close.

Train would be awesome but they'd need to complete the loop and also have a couple of routes?

I have a girl av on HC servers and she has pink trainers and a pink hoodie (that says it's red but it's pink on my, like a baby pink or a soft pink, not like a cerise and I found a lovely handbag and some matchi.......wait! WTF is happening to meeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
