Funny you should mention this I wore a helmet for the first time the other day and instantly thought my view should be restricted. Same goes for gas masks but before that's done, gas masks need a use in world so the lack of vision gives a bonus for breathing clean air.

What's wrong with making people wait 15 minutes to switch servers? Then 20, 25, 30?
-
Coupled mags should be fixed and if we can couple 30 round mag, we can couple 40 round mags. The 60 round sustained fire needs removing asap.
-
Turn ur mic on, pick up your guitar and play it that way lol

Time compression confirmed by Rocket up to x64 server sided so Admins can now set the lengths of day how they want (will be able to) and yes, bring back tents I love hunting them down!

getting wet: visual effect instead of text messages
Jex replied to Octavian (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I like it too and it shouldn't drain processes - the effect has been round for years. However, it's kind of redundant, both systems. Usually when I look out a window and see it is raining I don't think I'll be anything other than wet standing out in it - it's a no brainer. Of course I'm going to get wet! All we need is a status indicator in our inventory with some descriptive text Damp Wet Soaked Why even both with either system when we really don't need it? -
Yes we need things like this across the map, creepy places to add to the horror and desolation. The ruined village needs to have a permanent layer of ground fog around it I think too. The state of the buildings should reflect the passage of time since Day Zero. Has it just started or have we been here months?

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
Jex replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think it's forward and fast forward or turbo - i set my joystick throttle to it but I'd prefer a key bind. -

You already have... Auto crouch Auto run mode auto prone mode auto aim mode etc How does having a constant run make the game any different to play because you don't have to continuously hold down a key? -

Jex replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
WTF? I fail to see the difference between holding down a key as to just pressing it. So - from your argument we can conclude There should only be a hold run, crouch, prone and sprint key - as we don't normally do these actions we should have the hold down buttons for each otherwise it's just like autorun. Why can u just press one button for these states and not for running continuously? See how that doesn't make any fucking sense?? -

This is where automove is needed most. Some of us do actually crawl kilometers to survive. -
It was never "included" in the SA - it wasn't taken out of it is actually the truth and that's a big difference. The mod fix is fine btw and it won't turn into a dev sinkhole - some random guy just made it you don't think BI who wrote the engine don't know their own engine and couldn't implement this? This is the fix that is needed for the game. If your AV cannot physically see other players, zombies or animals then they don't draw for you until you expose yourself to be seen by them too.

So with the recent patch my FPS went up a little so I was playing more 1st person. I was running around with an axe, a rifle over my back and wearing an orange raincoat and a red hard hat and a red mountain back pack with the intention of supplying anyone I met with whatever I had. I expected to be shot but I survived 12-15 people, gave them some gear before some douch murdered me and this guy (I met earlier, we grouped up) by glitching through a 3 story house in electro. I could have got away but he shot my new friend first so I just taunted him running back and forth laughing as he sprayed about 60 shots trying to get me. Funnily enough when I respawned, my new friend was 20 feet from me. Then some German assholes came over, fully geared, told us to get down and then just shot us. Every 3rd person server I've been on I've been KOS'd.

I see what you're saying and to a degree that is correct however, in a 3pp server what you can eliminate is risk. Without ever have to move from your safe spot you can just sit and wait for people to come by, watching with impunity. In 1pp you cannot do that. You have to physically look over things and around things and thus take a risk of being seen which now means you have to think about your positioning to get a tactical vantage point. Take the KOS'er who sits tucked behind a wall or on a roof top, completely invisible and unable to be discovered, using the height advantage of his camera to scan the surrounding area for someone to shoot. When he spots a victim, he tracks him via this method, completely safe. When the victim stops with his back towards the KOS'er, that's when the coward strikes and shoots the guy in the back. Now go through that scenario in 1st person - you already know that it is significantly harder. Since a lot of players are just scavenging for loot and not hunting other players, the tables are massively in the favour of the hunter who only needs to get into a position and then camp. If he engages a player in close range, say the newbie is unarmed and flees, the newbie can't even run away because the magical eye-in-the-sky is up there keeping tabs on everything. In first person, running through buildings and dodging around walls makes it possible to get away but it also makes it possible to get yourself cornered. Also, the chaser has to think about the walls he's running around after the guy, did he stop around that wall and is about to punch me? Is there someone else with a gun? All the tension and tactics disappear when you give yourself a camera in the sky (Effectively a crutch). On 3pp all the advantage goes to the guy hiding and he gets a free ticket for camping (something I'll remind you all that is considered one of the lowest things to do in a first person shooter game however in those, both parties are restricted to first person. I'll ask anyone this challenge: Name me one action (other than aiming) that is harder to do in 3rd Person View over First Person View.

So you mean it looks like real life then.
-
maybe someone can find you and try and bump you. The only other alternative is death but what a sucky way to go after living so long (It's happened to me, 39 days alive over at BMRF servers and I did coming out a castle and being catapulted off the wooden steps). It just sucks more when u die to a glitch.

I was quick enough one day to take the blouse of a zombie lady/ OoooOOOOoooh.....

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
Jex replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Why does everyone assume players aren't going to be at their keyboards? I just explained what I do in the post above yours. Why are you assuming people are just going to run in a straight line and what does it have to do with you if they chose to do that? -
Who's he looking at, a giant? Modding tools? Does anyone know how far that's going? Are we going to have different versions of the game and "24/7 daylight 1000 car start with sniper rifle and personal nuike!!"

Jex replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I'm surprised at all the negativity towards this myself. I would have thought everyone would be all over this like a rash. I use a different method for my autorun I couldn't find a picture for just my throttle but this'll do. Push forward and I'm off to a sprint. Now I can easily use my alt key (or track IR if my frame rates are being nice to me) to scan around whilst I steer with my mouse and strafe. In a game like this why wouldn't I want an autorun feature. I don't "think" my feet forward each time I walk. -

LMAO 115 beans given! -
Oh I'm a massive BIS fan, mainly because they've supported the community over the last 15 years (?) and haven't taken away modding capabilities like Activision did with COD, turning all of that into paid for DLC's and no ability to host ur own server. Look how Codemaster's royally fucked up Operation Flashpoint (using a rally driving game engine). They were convinced it would be all this and that and it came out and it was awful. The Arma series is the only FPS shooter game where I feel like i'm inside the world and have you seen VBS3? Edit Arma 4 anybody?
-
My Suggestions were optimistic, not realistic ;) My point being that to get a really good zombie game like dayz would need it's own dedicated engine. There must be things in the arma engine that are superfluous to dayz needs. It's never going to happen but it's nice to dream :)

OK the pics were a joke and now I'm asking reasonable questions but it's your world boss.
