  1. No everyone DOES NOT have the same advantages. Try thinking about scenarios and you might find out why this argument is asinine. Go ahead and name me one example where 2 players have the same advantage as each other. Then think of all the other ways to gain advantage over other players by exploiting 3rd person.
  2. Cars and walls are static objects and non threatening so I don't care if they can be seen. Why do YOU have a problem with wanting to see people you can't physically see? Why should people go the the trouble of using cover only to be seen by you when you can't see them? In what universe can you see through things. In the FPS world they're called "wall hacks".

Does it get dark in SA?

Roadmap video - rocket stated in this.
  4. This. I'd prefer someone to follow their vision rather than bow to every little thing other people want. Could you imagine this in the movie industry or novels? "I don't like the fight scene in this part" or " the ending sucks at the end of the book, you should make it so..."
  5. Yes this is correct however there is some confusion and people are using different words to mean the same thing. What people are talking about are servers tweaking the settings and also lumping the mods into that because they detract from the base game. The overall effect which is what the main cause for concern is that by opening up the SA to modding and server tweaking on private hives is that we'll see the same thing happen. Now, the argument is "let people play what they want to play" and given the almost infinite spectrum of opinions, getting to that stage is impossible. But if you took away all the mods leaving only the base game, we need to ask ourselves, "is the base game so bad people won't play it?" No it isn't. We have 1.7 million SA sales and over 2 million downloads for the original mod so we know people loved playing the game. We also need to appreciate the longevity of games. UBIsofts's model is 5 or 6 months I think - they make a game to last that long and it's move on to the next. Games don't last forever and it's almost a pity the development has gone the way it has. Had the mod never existed and the game was just made and released it would be all new and exciting. The problem for the SA is that people have been playing it for two years before the game was even made, albeit in a buggy and rather crappy format. My purchase of DayZ was for the the mod, not the SA. I didn't bother me to think the SA might be awful as my money was going to support BI in their effort and support of the modding community. I really like the SA right now but I also see an issue in that given free reign, modding could be an issue and this is what other people are worried about. I don't think anyone really wants to take away modding. Hell, OFP and Arma wouldn't be the games they are today without all the amazing things modders do. What the main concern is the dilution effect that having tons of different mods and then on top of that hundreds of different servers that gravitate away from the original concept. It's weird, because that concept is what brought everyone to DayZ but look how it got abandoned.
  6. What game will they be playing? It won't be DayZ as most of the servers have gone way way off base for it to even be associated with DayZ. On most of those mod servers you may as well remove the zeds and be done with it - most of them make the zombies useless anyway because they get in the way of PVP which DayZ is not about. DayZ is surviving the horrors of a zombie apocalypse where any injury you sustain could be life threatening. Where food and water aren't readily available and the infected want your guts. Where you need to find shelter, a secure place to fend off zeds and wild animals and maybe grow some food, dig a well until that fateful night where you hear your barricades being ripped down. A random zombie horde passed too close by and smelled your living flesh and are clawing their way inside. You and your friends scramble to get your guns, shots ring out as zed heads explode. You all climb out the back window, looking over your shoulder a fire has broken out. You can see your crops burning, your livestock being ripped apart knowing you're going to have to start all over again. You have no food, limited ammo and it that a bite mark on your arm.... It is not saving up bars of gold to build tanks and jets so you can go bomb the shit out of people.
  7. Exactly. Also, where would the mod be bow if it was the only one going? I never grew bored of the original though my mates and I did take breaks from the game only to come back a month or 2 later and play it again for another 3 months. We tried other mods but mostly for the maps - really liked panthera and Namalsk was desolate but it felt desolate so that was an awesome map too.
  8. When Skyrim turns into a multiplayer game and then all the servers run "Start at level 100, bests swords and armour and free dragon" then see how much you like it.
  9. Err.... Somewhere in there is a logic fail. The SA is a continuation of the MOD but working. Had the original mod been the only mod out there, would DayZ still be as popular? Yeah actually I think it would. The other MODs all got their popularity from the original. Those were the first youtube video's that everyone saw and everyone went to play.
  10. The Dev team do have a clear vision - have you not seen the roadmap? Clear vision or not. Once you give admins and the community unrestricted rights to do as they please, you'll get 1000+ helis and starting M249,/backpack/selfbloodbag... etc regardless of where the SA goes.
  11. Modding won't be coming for years and the current dev team of what, 30 or 40 people backed by a dev company isn't capable of finishing it? These are the people that made Armed Assault which is 10 times the game dayz will ever be. I think you worfully underestimate what BIS can do.
  12. Shouldn't a heavier weapon make your weapon sway sooner than a lighter weapon? How long can you hold a weapon in an aiming posture before your arms get tired and being to shake? With a lighter weapon this should take longer than a heavier one - what do you think?
  13. LOL exactly! And not to mention they don't want to run around looking for gear, they want it right away so what is the big attraction about playing DayZ as a pvp game when you have COD, BF and Arma out there. Fuck me there's arma games where u respawn 10 seconds after you die with all ur gear - this is weird. ;)
  14. I played there! :) so sad it went :(
  15. This is true. They don't want to play the game as a survival game - against the environment, zombies and players. I suspect all difficult aspects to be removed and zombies made pathetic - just look at the outcry we had from the zed update - well they're going to get worse. Modders will dumb them down so the real pvp aspect can be played - that's what dayz is though right? Fast cars, no effort and killing fresh spawns?
  16. I'm not sure I care what other people think. What I mean is, there have been some legendary games made by people in the past that have been the product of their imagination. Even those games you'd find people wanting this and that and whatever which would ruin the original classic, or cheapen it if that makes sense. These devs just made the game they wanted and seeing what happened with the mod, i'm not sure it's going to turn out well. Guess we'l lfind out.
  17. Certainly a better browser system is needed - dayz currently isn't so good but I'd rather not have a seperate browser liek dayz commander so I hope they have a system to download whatever mod via the game instead of going outside it. I'm not a big fan of opening it up to the community myself - it seems to me in many ways it ruined the game. Rather than being excited about what the dev team were going to make next on the official mod, we had so many mods to play they all blurred into one and it wasn't exciting. DayZ right now is exciting because we don't know what's coming in the next patch - having 20 different versions dampens the whole experience but it's coming and by the looks of things, they're not putting any brakes on it.

Want to prolong your pvp action

So doesn't finding the second gun just add more time before you fight? You still need to find 2 guns so you're not getting more pvp ur just allowing urself to get revenge quickly.
