    No game ever made lets anyone play the game the way they like. No game will be made that will allow this either. You are always stuck playing in the confines of a game. You can play chess "the way you like" as long as the way you like follows the rules. DayZ is a survival game. It's not a game where you get to do whatever you want otherwise it would be marketed as such and even then, you can't stick your dick up a cows arse. The game is survival and that is what it is. That's the game and within the confines of a "survival" game, you can play how you like only as far as the code will allow you to. So I think we need to stop saying we can play games however we like because there is no game that allows that and it gives a wrong impression. Minecraft comes close to playing how you like, but you can't stick your dick up a.... So DayZ is a game about surviving a zombie apocalypse. So the focus of the game, i.e. the objective, should all be about surviving and there should be enough tools and challenge in the game that is fun and makes us feel like we're trying to survive. If people start complaining that they're having to spend too much time on "surviving", I don't really know what to tell them. Maybe ask why are they playing a survival game then. I also believe the MOD is still available so why don't they play that? If the devs can make an authentic survival game and move away from the MOD so they're distinct experiences the outcome could be really good.

    Even if you do spawn in Kamenka and berezino it should take 15 minutes max finding each other. I like it as well. You're all alone and then you navigate to the place and see ur mate and it's good times again :)

    This to an extent. I think there needs to be more effort in marketing this as a game where the focus should be surviving. The idea that the longer you can live being the aim of the game and not gearing up or pvp'ing. The survival element should be a challenge but also a fun part of the game that people can enjoy and get to grips with.

    People also forget how shite the mod was as well. The zombies never worked, they were a joke and the last I was playing the actual official MOD, they were going down a more realistic route. What brought people to the MOD was the apocalypse and survival aspect. I don't think people got that and whilst the MOD was brilliant, it had many issues but it was still amazing fun to play. Now we have the SA we can get a more fulfilling experience but if you released the MOD again today, right now, people would not rush out to play it again. Sorry, nostalgia got you OP and you're remembering the good times which were brought about because it was the first of it's type. You're forgetting all the crap too and unfortunately, that "MOD feeling" isn't going to come back for us Vets I'm afraid. New players to the genre love it though and they'd be the ones we should be asking to see if they feel the same way about the SA as we did about the MOD.
  10. Are u raising your fists before r/clicking? I doubt that the game code has re-written itself to be different on your PC so we need to establish what everyone is talking about first. As you have remapped your keys, can you raise your fists? Whatever key you use for this is what you need to press to bring your binos up. Can you aim down sights on a weapon? Whatever you use for that you press next and should give you the bino view :)

    Zombies do matter after all...

    I'm the opposite. I want them to constantly be changing the AI (or even better, make an AI routine that changes the zombies behaviour randomly or make it even evolve itself so we're constantly on our toes. The MOD zombies were crap and way too easy to beat to the point where they were just annoying because you wanted to search something and a zed shows up. The zeds should be something you fear, not get annoyed at because they're keeping you from looting.

  13. Are these ever going to be fixed? Yes I know it's an alpha but we had the same shit in Arma 2. For some insane reason, BIS think that all cars make their side windows so low that when you look out of them, your eyes are level with the top of the window making them SHIT to look out of. This error is so fucking obvious that to miss it just speaks volumes. Lower the damn seat height already!

    I use track IR, my head turns fine, it's the height of your head. Your eyes are almost just above the top of the window pain meaning you can't really see out the window enough out the sides. The view is restricting and nobody makes car windows this way though I wish I could give you a screen shot.

    This was what I was getting out. An RPG can do things but in DayZ, I'm betting there will always be a better way to do something so I think 1 of 2 things will happen. 1) RPG will be kept forever, unused at someones camp. 2) People will just use it to nuke the first thing they see. I doubt there will be many times there's a real "need" for it and who the hell runs around with an RPG in a zombie apocalypse? How about working on the Zombies, the animals, the survival engine etc and and crap like the RPG and chopper last? We had choppers in the MOD - I mean my mates and I. I didn't care for them because you only ever had a chopper for a day or 2 before you logged off and someone else came and took it - rinse, repeat.... Now it's just me and a friend and we run all over the map when we play - we don't so much because RPG's are being coded in whereas the fun stuff is being left out. When we are playing and moving we talk all the time about things in or out of the game. We make plans of where to go, what to see, what to try out and see what's new or different. 6 months after the prison island was made we finally went to see it a couple of weeks ago - probably the last people to do it and...... it was ok. There's only so much to do and the new rendering engine still isn't in which as meant to be first quarter this year? The year is almost over! No zeds, no proper survival aspects, no funny water.... practically no animals - when are we going to have something to do? Running around a map collecting things and growing vegetables isn't that much fun I'm afriad.

    Vehicale Windows Attempt Number 2 This is NOT a bug, it's sloppy modelling on behalf of BIS which has persisted since OFP. This is a discussion to make sure BIS 1) Fix the idiotic positioning of the driver height and 2) to make sure they don't copying the idiotic modelling to every other vehicle they introduce. Even in an alpha state, the animations have been set for the height in the game meaning some rework is going to be needed. Is that going to ever go to be changed or can we expect our side windows to be useless like they were in OFP, Arma, Arma 2 and DayZ Mod? Most people when they turn their head can see out of the window and up as well. Maybe we could have the same for DayZ vehicles too, please? PS. I PM'd Bones to unlock my thread and have heard nothing though he was almost instant to lock it. If that one gets unlocked can you merge them please and in future, maybe not be so quick to lock them?

    Because all their clothes would show through and they'd need to go through the lot and redo something so they wouldn't. They'd also need to add code to make a layering affect and how warm or over warm it could make you. Or we could have an RPG.

    Ooh player made bases. I love it in & Days to Die but in DayZ I'm not so sure. They have them in H1Z1 and they're everywhere and who wants to see that crap. In an apocalypse where most people are dead it seems funny that there's hundreds of shacks all over the place. Originally they said an instanced player base so I hope that's still on with a camouflage entrance like a trap door.

    Not quite sure what an RPG is going to be useful for. Are we expecting the zeds to start attacking us with armoured vehicles? Very limited use this thing will have to the point of making it practically obsolete. Oh and talking about windows, time for another rant thread about those dumbass things.

    Ok now let's move the setting to one where you're in a survival world. There is no way you're going to get deliberately wet because of the risks associated with that. You might like to get wet and you can do that now anyway. Most people want to stay dry throughout the day - day after day, month after month, year after year.
