Looking back, Do you think that EA release was a good idea?
Jex replied to c00lface's topic in General Discussion
Take WarZ as an example, they blatantly lied about their product and it should never have gotten on Steam. Steam should have fined them a lot of money for trying to rip off their client base. As long as the game isn't lying and isn't bug ridden (ie. it's functional) then that's as far as they need to go. They don't need to review games and shouldn't because that just won't work. It's up to the public to read reviews before they buy a game but they don't need lying to or having a broken game. -

Steam make money off their portal for every game they sell so yes, I expect when making a transaction they do some QA on products like making them at least go through a review process or by tying down the company contractually and fining them if they pull any bullshit like WarZ cunts did. -
What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
Jex replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
No - why the fuck must everyone feel so entitled they need it fucking now? I'm sick of this bullshit "get it out quick we must have it now or we'll die" mentality. 1) It just goes to show what a braindead loser you (not you, you) are that you're whole life revolves around having to have something right now and it makes people look pathetic. 2) More haste less speed except in this instance, quicker just means more bugs and less content. Surely we want less bugs and more content right? So why do we have people screaming to get the job done. Games have a certain lifespan for each person. That lifespan starts when you start playing the game, not when you you want it released so it doesn't matter when it's released, you're going to play it for the same amount of time and in fact if you have to wait longer, you'll be older and appreciate the game more and probably get more game time out of it. 3) It shows a distinct lack of maturity and IQ in a person when they have to have a game now, right now, I NEED IT NOW!!!! With hundreds of games out there to play, it's easy to just play those and wait for the beta release with patience. I play multiple games, i have my favourites that I play more but I split my time - you have a lifetime to play all of these, especially the SP games. Take Tomb Raider for example, the remake. That was an exceptionally well made game. I will play that again and probably again over the years. I still install old games from 10 years ago because they were great games., Yes the graphics are dated but I still enjoy the game as much. Graphics today however aren't really getting much better. We've reached a quality level now where games finally look great. You don't just play a game and then hate it. The great games are ones you'll play over again years from now. So I don't get this mentality that we should have things right now. Would tomb raider be a worse game if it came out today and not 2 years ago? No of course it wouldn't so what's the rush? -

Before you start slinging mud around about a company, perhaps you should try doing the tinyiest piece of research first? Whether BIS are cashing in or not won't affect the quality of the game, they could still fuck it right up. We'll just have to wait and see. -

Your argument is fucking ridiculous but let's blow your points out the water with a nuclear depth charge - do you have your life raft ready? 1) A good game is a good game. People enjoy playing good games and people enjoyed the mod but hated the bugs. The SA is hoped to iron out the bugs, tie up all the loose ends the mod couldn't and get the zeds right plus giving us some new content. "If it wasn't for the mod players, dayz wouldn't exist" WTF??? You might as well say "If it wasn't for drivers, cars wouldn't exist" Of course the MOD wouldn't exist if nobody had played it to begin with! Jesus in a balloon what a stupid thing to say. We all played the mod and we all wanted an SA. 2) Zombie's have never been "a recent thing" just look at the string of movies of the decades and games. Games don't "get old" either. If a fucking awesome game comes out people are going to play it. Why the fuck do you think they're still making civilization if the genre's get old? By you're reckoning games would have stopped being made decades ago since every type of game has been done and redone over and over. Good games sell it's that simple and with youtube now, good games get exposure which generates more sales. 3) Your ignorance is amazing. Have you looked at the type of games being sold at the moment? How many different genres of games are there? Presumably work on BF4 and COD has stopped right because of the zombie thing? If DayZ came out in 3 years time and was an exceptional game then of course it's going to sell! What part of great games selling cannot get inside your thick little head? -

One example of how Steam don't vet anything was WarZ - remember how they didn't check that at all and aollowed people to get ripped off? Look into it further and you'll see Steam do fuck all it seems in QA. -
Well they stuck around electro in the mod until the 24/7 1000 vehicles and starting weapons + 10,0000 barracks servers came online then they all went there. The thing is, this game has never had a decent enough zombie threat to make them anything more than an annoyance. In the mod you just ran full sprint and it was easy. In the SA they need to make the zombies a challenge. If they get it right it could make the game what we actually have been waiting for. You can add in building and all these other things to do but ultimately it's the zed threat that will make or break the game.

I vote we rename the thread, "How to be an asshole 101" -
I did the kessel run in under 2 parsecs....it's too fast I think. I had a full mountain backpack too at the time but I had to dump the contents when I ran across a zombie patrol.

They're still redesigning major parts of the map and adding in cities. After all that they need to add this other stuff in but if you were the guy in charge of designing that map, wouldn't you want to add all that in and make it look the part? I'd love to be able to make something like that.

Mine was in the mod with a fishing rod. This kid shot at me trying to kos me, then he couldn't hit me, then he got hit by a zombie and was bleeding and told me to stay away whilst he bandaged himself telling me he's bandage me so I ran over and started wacking him with the fishing rod, he got out his gun and shot me and broke my leg but I rolled behind a tree as the zeds started eating him. I was laughing my ass off the whole time - that was the funniest thing I think as well.

So presumably the two software houses they purchased to (or it was one and then paid a team to do other work) at $x millions has done nothing to speed up production and this was after the major sales of the game. -
Looking back, Do you think that EA release was a good idea?
Jex replied to c00lface's topic in General Discussion
Not really. I can't remember much of Epoch or Origins, both have building things, one has an island with AI on it but they all still suffer the issues the mod had in shitty zeds that weren't a threat. The mod will have base building in it too. Why am I not into mods for DayZ - they took away from the original concept and diluted the player base. Then the full loot and hundreds of cars further divided the community. Unlike Arma which most things were for the main game type which was fighting as soldiers, the alternate game types splintered things fairly well., I'm all for modding maps and other items though not sure about different complete mods. Once you open the door you can't close it. The same is said for servers. Server operators running private hives are going to tweak the databases to provide more loot, start off fully kitted - most of the servers running dayz and the mods seemed more concerned with PVP and building shit, not taking the game down any sort of survival path or working on the zeds. What brought me to DayZ (and most other people) was the survival aspect of a zombie apocalypse and how we would cope in it. What came after that was a clusterfuck. -

Yes I got skyrim a while back but then stopped playing as I saw all the cool mods that add to the grpahics. So I stopped playing and when I get my new pc, I'll restart and play it in ultra high def! Even saying that, the arma series literally has thousands of mods and tens of thousands of missions for it - I don't think anything comes close to BIS for community made things but who knows? The real point here is that game companies should support their communities and allow modding and hosting our own servers. COD is a good example of ripping us off and Activision can go fuck themselves. They regurgitate the same shit year after year. After Modern Warfare they removed modding support (they wanted to sell us shitty DLC see) and the ability to host youir own server. I suppose it's still the same but I wouldn't know, I have nothing to do with that company anymore and I'm not going to check. I'd rather give my money to companies that support their communities and I think they could go a lot further with this too and reap huge benefits as a result. -

I haven't been a part of a single game that has ever done the scenario you suggested. I also wasn't directing my post at you, but more going with what you said and giving examples of what these people are doing. Also if I made a game I would never promise putting things in the community wanted. I would make the game I wanted to make and any suggestions that were going to add to my overall game I would add in. -
What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
Jex replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yes but they have no effect on you so it's kind of moot right now. Dean said on the roadmap that weather and clothing is going to affect us (there's going to be snow too but unfortunately none on the ground), so I'm not sure what the issue is - they're not putting it in quickly enough for your taste? -
The only thing I would have said to do different (and this is in hindsight of course) is to have run up the steps, one on each side as soon as you heard the voices and then covered from there behind the hay bales or boxes. They then have to come up the stairs and ur close enough those 2 barrels will scrape their face off (and you can easily cover each other too). After I was in position, I would then move onto plan B. Find the most aggravating and highest pitched bag pipe music I could find on YT and play it through direct voice and sit there for an hour with cheese in my ears. Basically as soon as you're cornered and if you can get into a good position it's all a waiting game then.

You're still here showing us how ignorant you are? Kilch will be along soon to remove these two posts btw) -
LMAO Look at all the hours people have played on this game. Most SP FPS's only last up to 10 hours, maybe a little more. Tomb Raider was about 20 hours for me and cost more. 660 hours?? No wonder you're bored.

But even if it was the top seller on steam... A) it told them NOT to buy it on the sales page - duh! B) Don't be a fool who buys any shit without looking into it - duh! C) Don't post on forums complaining about something you bought that you never researched and were warned about - duh! I mean come on! LOL how the fuck do these people tie their own shoe laces? Oh, they use velcro well whatever they do to get their shoes on in the morning isn't that important. -

I know, $15k lol but i think that gave them rights to a book deal or something. Still there were or are 10k packages. Yes it is odd that people sign up to basically test the game out and test out new things they add and are told the game is in development then come crying here when they have to test the game out and wait for new things to be added.
