Armed Helicopters Are NOT Overpowered
Jex replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Aren't they still making underground bases we can build? Tents would be better if they didn't use a shitty texture and made them the same colour as the earth or grass - at least then they would blend in a little but choppers in a zombie apocalypse? It borders on the realms of reality with just one per server. We should be having to eventually produce methanol and ethanol for fuel and regular maintenance of cars just to run them. How on earth are you meant to maintain a chopper? -

I didn't say they had no use i said they don't add anything. As for flying, been playing flight sims for years and DayZ will never see the kind of flight modelling ToH has so, like I said, I doubt it's going to be much harder but may require more button presses. -
So 3rd person attackers can now attack from perfect safety never even having to expose themselves when you can just fire over things.

The issue there is people loot barns and will find your shit. Hiding tents in the wild is doable from the ground but impossible from the air - it's like forests don't exists from the sky. -

I seriously doubt flying will be much more difficult but you may have to press a few more buttons. -

Epoch has Cobra's and THIS is the mod everyone wants to play?? This is fucking ridiculous. But wait, what am I thinking! Of course gunship helicopters would be flying in a zombie apocalypse! No to helicopters full stop. They don't add anything to the game. "Oh we have a chopper......and we can get to places quicker!" You can also view the whole map and see where everyone's shit is as well. No thanks - keep them out. -
Everybody's friendly when they have nothing.

Nice :)

Play like a HEDGEHOG!!

No what needs to be done is simple. You join a server and play x amount of time. You quit the game and when you restart you can rejoin the same server with no time penalty. You get DC'd, you can rejoin the same server with no time penalty. If you leave that server and join another server, you cannot join the original server for at least 30 minutes. Problem solved.

I'm wondering why you even need to ask this question? You can't work it out for yourself?

Assault vests and webbing distrubute weight pretty good. Trying to remember what I had in mine but it was some time ago... Webbing, jacket pockets and vest) Webbing Gas Mask 1 litre water bottle (full) Cooking and fuel apparatus survival kit food (tasted great in the field - never try eating that shit when ur at home lol) weapon cleaning kit Jacket Pockets various things for making life easy like bungees, ties, clips, tape etc. Binoculars Assault Vest Ammo Pen knife. Compass (that's another thing! WTF is that compass in DayZ - from an antiques shop? Give me a modern compass that glows in the dark, surely they're not that backwards there are they?) I never put anything in my trouser pockets except a map. There's more stuff I'd put in there too I can't remember right now though but I do remember I wasn't particularly weighed down - I mean I didn't really feel it as the weight is distributed

Even though people here try to say "It's dayz, you're just going to get shot anyway" that actually isn't the case all the time. My ex was playing one day in the mod a year ago and was using side chat to try and meet up with people. At least 6 pricks decided to start calling her an "attention whore" for the simple fact she dared to write something in side chat. Even in these forums when girls have posted there's been a bunch of dickheads giving them similar treatment. We're all gamers, whether you're a boy or a girl shouldn't matter but we still live in an age where some boys feel threatened by girls out doing them in things. A lot of people will KOS regardless (they probably got told to tidy their room before they could play games) and other people are just knobs - whatever.... that's not going to change but when you stop playing and shut down ur PC. You go off and do something different but they still remain knobs ;)
-
This is a pretty stupid change but then in dayz, the only binoculars that people have are ones made 60 years ago. A standard combat jacket would fit a pair in the lower pockets so jackets should have x2 4 slots pockets at the bottom and x2 2 slot pockets at the top. The assault vest should have in the region of 20 slots - seems to me somebody isn't really thinking this through properly.

Why does Dayz not have a proper gun detection system ?
Jex replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Armed assault from the days of OFP have had the gun a physical object. This means you get stuck in doors or narrow corridors and can't turn 180. Whilst realistic, it's moronic because every single human being on the planet knows how turn an object to fit it through a hole. The OP's post is exactly what is needed. you walk the barrel of your gun into something and it raises up. -
Why are there basically no 3pp:off servers - grow a pair.
Jex replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
Oh dear god really? I already explained it and now I have to do it all again just for you? "1. then by that logic 1st is also unfair if one arty is aware and one is not. the attacker has the same advantages. 2. roof campers....yes....if you didn't ADAPT realises that could happen and check the roofs from an elevated position prior to entering the town... Also even in 3rd the shooter WILL have to expose themselves to take the shot. Regular checks of the roofs for that shadow popping up are crucial. Theres 2 reasons its harder in 3rd, less time to aquire target when exposed, and more concealment for the enemy." 1) By what logic are you referring to because it's not logic. In 3pp one party can NEVER be aware the other is there - why am I having to explain this? 2) Presumably you're using your hot air balloon to float over the area to check out the roofs are you? Again, why am I having to explain this?? WTF - expose themselves?? Of course they will jesus in a balloon! However in 3pp they wait until ur back is turned from their position where they can't be seen. Less time to acquire a target WTF are you taking? You have all the time in the world to plan and move up on people and never lose track of them. Try keeping up with someone when ur restricted in ur view. Since you can't even make an argument let alone a decent one or understand how 3pp is easier I'm not even going to bother addressing anymore of your post. The ramblings above show clearly you don't have a clue. -

Yeah just as I thought. Quote mined and taken out of context completely. Nice try though and a win on your part for being disingenuous. -

I did a search for "easy mode pricks." and only your post comes up. -

Try TrackIR. You move your head, your head in game moves - it's awesome, nowhere near as pricey as OR will be and works great in driving or flight sims too. -

Yeah nice of you to to take the actions of a few individuals and apply them to a whole group you bigot. -

No it is not a level playing field at all unless both parties are aware of each other and start either end of a barn. That is a level playing field. It is not a level playing field when you're camping on a roof exploiting the view and I'm on the street. I cannot in anyway counter your view AT ALL. You have all the advantage and none of the disadvantages. You also fail to realize that not everyone plays the game the same. Some of us aren't bothered about hunting people down. So when I make my way into a town looking for supplies I'll be careful but that isn't going to help me when there's a camper over looking the obvious areas of the town people search (POlice station, supermarket, etc). Does it make it harder? Of course it doesn't. It makes it easier which is demonstrable. In 1pp it's way harder for you to track me, it's way harder to mover around as you can't magically see zeds. If you get into a fight it's harder to see your opponent and harder to engage. You think it's harder "for the other person" which is not the way to look at it at all. Since when do you judge how hard a game is from how hard it is for someone else? It's easier in 3pp view to look around corners before you move. It doesn't make the game harder for you just because someone else can see you and you can't see them. Once you are fighting, you use 3pp to check every angle and then move. 1pp you poke out your head and hope a bullet doesn't go through it, scan quickly and duck back. You keep repeating this move, often repositioning yourself to try and see different angles. 3pp makes this job a completely different game and people are robbing themselves of a more intensive and lifelike experience. 3pp gives an attacker all the advantages and gives up nothing against his opponent. In most other games or sports, when one person holds all the cards giving his opponent no chance at all they call that unfair advantage. All 3pp does is gives the sociopaths, the KOS'ers, the people most of us can't stand a huge advantage over the people that want to survive and loot and meet a few people and get into some gun fights. -

This really needs an explanation? 1st Person you have to find a better position, it's harder to keep track of your target and by doing so your target can also see you. You have to move more and by moving more you expose yourself more. 3rd Person sits behind a wall, scans the area then runs up to another wall, waits till the victim has his back to him and shoots. Put yourself in berezino with 20 other people and you be the only one in first person - see how that works out for you. -

The fact that you need to explain what competitive is to these people is probably wasted time. You get into a gun fight, it's competitive - FACT -

This is your serious and well thought out answer? So basically you cam over walls to make sure everything is clear before you venture out rather than play the game. That's your choice but it's not an argument against 4th wall - the point of 4th wall is that you CAN'T cam over to cheat and see where zombies are. -
No camps, this is the original zombie survival MMO and it hates you ;) Traps fuck yeah! Different zombies - probably not just make the normal zeds a threat.
