Maybe stop playing altogether?
-
Seems as though you didn't answer to anyone's satisfaction.
-
Firstly, it was a "presumption" ;) So every firefight you get to choose your position? I don't believe you one moment and I bet when you start taking rounds unexpectedly you go for cover and you're not moving at all for a few minutes, let alone 30 seconds (or if you are you're not charging at the enemy) which was my point. Fights in dayz can last a long time which gives combat loggers plenty of time to log off.
-
LOL absolute bollox - I've never heard anyone say that was ok.
-
Nope it's your reading skills that require attention as you've not read the responses in this thread, 95% of whom disagree with you, vehemently. So are you going to answer the question on this magical ability you have to know when you're being trolled by a KOS'er? Combat Logging is only ever OK when someone is cheating, like hacking or wall glitching. Any other time you're just a bad sportsman. How do you know when your player is being trolled. You've been asked this repeatedly.

At present yes, you can just find food and you're lucky to even see an animal. This will hopefully get better though as the game progresses to release, where canned food should be rare and hunting and growing vegetables is going to be the main way of staying alive. There's plenty of interesting terrain. Three valleys, Pobeda Dam, the fields in the north, Black lake, the burned down village, all the rocky areas, the towns nestled in valleys, castles, *looks nervously around*.......green mountain....... Forests differ between Pine and what look like beach maybe (I think up the road from electro). There wouldn't be any mountains in an area this small but I agree on rivers, they would have been cool to put in. The terrain is realistic, it feels realistic as well and most forests I've been in, look the same from one to the next where I live. The road from Orlevets to Palona is pretty cool too.

But you can't do whatever you want. It's not a sandbox game because what you can do is finite. Minecraft is a sandbox game because you can pretty much do anything in that.

I think people forget this is a zombie survival game - will be a zombie survival game when it's finished. The objective is to survive the elements, the environment, zombies and potential psychopathic players. This means that your day to day "life" is going to be hunting, fishing, foraging whilst protecting against the above.....that's the game, that's it. You fill your time and try to live as long as you can. Personally, I find the map fantastic (other than the stupid amount of extra cities they put in but, whatever). There's plenty of cool spots to go and see and credit should be given to the map maker of the original map. What's needed now, since the map is such a HUGE PART OF THE GAME (DEVS!) is to include interesting buildings like, The old opera house of Eletro. The abandoned fun fair outside of Zelenogorsk. The nuclear power station, the country estate house, a farm, whatever it is, since we are expected to move around the map so much, make some interesting points to visit on the way. Copy and pasting cities one after the other is boring. Another thing that is boring, that I'm going to just say I reckon 90% of Dayz players hate are those fucking apartment blocks! Does anybody like searching those things? ;)
-
Presumably you don't get into many firefights in Dayz?
-
Does anyone else get hungry when they play Dayz? As soon as I start eating in game I want to eat in RL.
-
Does anyone else want to be captured/tortured?
Jex replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Can i be kidnapped and tortured by bandit sluts please? -
And baby Mohammed too. They both cuddle when people ghost and combat log.

How is quitting the game playing the game. You've quit it, that's not playing the game once you leave the game. How this isn't blatantly obvious is beyond me. In any game, if someone who's about to lose quits to save themselves from losing it's considered bad sportsmanship by everyone. It's a completely dick move and to argue otherwise is contrary to everything that is sportsmanship. Now tell me, give me one example where unsportsmanlike behaviour has ever been ok.
-
Yeah I was going to say - Nice swerve there to avoid the argument at hand. You can't tell who's a troll or not and page 4 you're still defending combat logging as ok because you don't want to lose ur gear. Well, the majority of people don't want to ever play with people like you so we'll make you a special server to play on called "Combat Loggers Only".
-
Could be - I didn't really look tbh I just chose servers for low pop to see if I was just unlucky. I'll keep an eye on this so thanks :)

Buy iPhone, take hammer to iPhone, see if Jimmy's dad is cool enough to do that ;)

Well now it seems our problem is finding anything AT ALL. The first time we got in, 2/3 days ago we had no problems gearing up with the basics (axe, matches, clothes, first aid kit, some food) and we survived for 4 hours until we both got shot. On our 10 subsequent lives we've died of zombies, starvation and hypothermia. We've been playing dayz since the mod so we know enough not to be dying stupid but we can't find any gear anywhere. The tip is always, go inland but even if you didn't, you'd find a few useful things. In about 8 hours of gaming (and dying over and over) I can barely find a hat. My t-shirt goes for bandages. No backpacks, no food, nothing to open food with. I've found weapon wise, a hoe (brilliant), stun baton, pitchfork, (useless) and fire extinguisher. Of the other items kicking around, spanners (wrenches), pliers, hammers, compasses, gas stoves or lamps, jeans and tracksuit bottoms, sickles (I can't pick these up), books literally everywhere, defibs, shoes gallore, pants of every description. Go inland, change servers, it made no difference - literally 99% of every item found was like the above so entirely useless when you need to eat and stray warm. Never found an axe from hundreds of buildings searched and the boredom.... OMG the boredom. House after empty house is boring to say the least. They also need to fix the duplication of items. Finding 5 pairs of pliers in the same place is stupid. This used to happen in the mod too where you'd find one thing, then keep finding it. What's with the "make things random" line in the code? Did they forget to add that? I'm going to give it another try tonight but if I get the same it's breaky time for another 6 months for me :) As for 75 man servers they can keep them. It's a zombie apocalypse FFS. That means people are rare and 40 players on a server on this size map is crowded. This is catering for the PVP crowd that don't want to play a survival game, they want more people to shoot at. Why they're catering for pvp at all is beyond me considering the genre. Concentrate on the fucking zombies and environment!

Loot spawns - anyone else frustrated?
Jex replied to johnny0964 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
You mean it's like that on fucking purpose???? DEVSSSS!!!! FIX THIS NOW OMFGZ I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS SO SHODDY AFTER 10 DECADES OF ALPHA THIS IS UNACCEPTABLEZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAA WAAAA WAAAAAAA!!!!! ;) -
I drag the screwdriver over the can and it opens for me. Canned tuna you can open without the need of a tool btw.
-
I think you'll find they're focusing on fixing everything.
-
I wouldn't bother with a canteen at all. There's so many ponds and water pumps you can find a drink anywhere. Just top up whenever you come across one.
-
Having your character in game whilst you're not playing is the most stupid thing I've ever heard of. It's so stupid I don't even know where to begin. Who's ever fallen asleep in a hostile environment so deeply they are completely removed from the entire planet and it's effects?
-
Don't the pliers also open them?

Nope this was the north end. more than half the chopper was buried under the ground too - i think it was a hip. -
There's a 30 second timer which is not much use at all. When you start a fight, unless you're an idiot you aren't just going to charge blindly in. Most people check around them, move up, check, etc which is way over 30 seconds. A guy runs into a house, you're outside. How long are you going to wait until you move up, knowing he could be aiming through a window at you? The timer is only going to work in a few cases. Most PVP encounters if I logged at the start of them, I'd survive most likely.
